Hey everyone - life got really busy a few months into COVID, and I stopped my dynasties and forgot to check here. If you all want to do this, I love the idea and let me re-read the thread and bump up the proposal and modify it based on feedback.

Alright, what you can see below was my last proposal. I will let everyone read that, I'll propose some modifications and amendments at the bottom.

Cadence: 12 months

Hall of Fame: Permanent sticky in each dynasty subforum

Nomination process

• Post a stickied thread at the top of each dynasty sub-forum, calling for nominations
• Survey created via SurveyMonkey, that link is included in stickied post. Survey asks for the following:
  • Your OS username
  • Three nominations, which include
    • Link to dynasty
    • Name of the dynasty
    • Author of the dynasty
    • Reason for the nomination
    
    
  • Any additional feedback or comments folks have
  
  
• Leave nominations open for 2 weeks
• Remove sticky from nomination threads
• Spend 1 week tabulating nominations and put together a list of the top 10 most nominated dynasties. (if there are ties, include more than 10 options. For instance if 8 dynasties receive 5+ nominations but 4 receive 3 nominations, we'd include all 4 of them for 12 total)
• Archive all nominees for recognition and future reference. It's a big deal to get nominated

Selection process

• Create new stickied threads in each subforum, list out each nominee with a brief blurb on what it is why it was nominated.
• Include link to SurveyMonkey survey which has a list of the nominees (which are shown in a different/random order to all survey respondents to limit biases based on order).
• Respondents pick 3 from that list, along with optional text field to detail their thoughts on what they chose (and include their OS username).
• Voting period lasts 2 weeks, at the end of it we induct the top 3 vote-getters into the Hall of Fame
• They get added to stickied thread, and maybe we can even add a post where we interview them and get details on what they did.

Possible concern: people stuffing the ballot box. Unsure how to mitigate.

The idea of a committee was proposed, which I like. I think I'd like to keep the nomination process the same, but would change the selection process a bit. See below for a new proposal. I am suggesting we follow the committee process and use Discord as a place to chat. Let me know your thoughts, especially on the committee composition process.

Selection process

1. Create new stickied threads in each subforum, list out each nominee with a brief blurb on what it is why it was nominated.
   1. Folks should use this to get transparency into what’s happening and provide feedback and have discussion on the nominees.
   
   
2. Actual discussion from the Hall of Fame committee happens in an OS Dynasty HoF discord channel set up by me. (I’ll try to be more of an administrator and less of a core committee member)
3. The committee will trim the list down to an eventual 3 winners. If there are enough nominees, we may even post updates as we trim the list down (for example from 15->10->5->3).
4. Any dynasties that are not selected as winners will remain on a nominee backlog for future consideration, that way they are not forgotten.
5. They get added to stickied thread, and maybe we can even add a post where we interview them and get details on what they did.

Committee Composition
The committee will be comprised of respected community members from the following dynasty sub-forums:

1. Football (2-3 members)
2. Basketball (2-3 members)
3. Baseball (1-2 members)
4. Hockey (1-2 members)
5. Other Sports (0-2 members)

Due to the relative popularity of football and basketball dynasties, those sub-forums *may* have more representatives than the others.
I will also be on the committee as an administrator, tiebreaker, and sounding board, but not as an official voting member.

Committee members will be chosen via the following process:

1. A thread will be sticked at the top of the dynasty HQ sub-forum (and advertised across the other forums). Discussion can happen in this thread, but a committee member must nominate themselves by saying “I nominate myself to be an OS Dynasty HoF committee member” and answering the following questions.
   1. How long have you been making sports dynasties?
   2. How long have you been part of the OS community?
   3. What sport are you most familiar with for dynasties?
   4. What’s the favorite dynasty you’ve ever created?
   5. What’s your favorite dynasty someone else has created?
   6. Why do you wish to be part of the OS Dynasty HoF committee?
   
   
2. Once the two week nomination window ends, I will sort through all nominations, perhaps reaching out and asking questions of the nominees, and select our committee.
3. Committee members must affirm their membership in the committee each year, or will be replaced.

I'm all in, sorry for the (very) late reply. It's not possible to make a sub forum inside another, right? Once the nominees start piling up, we might have a lot of sticky posts.

I believe it is possible. Look at the NBA 2K forum, which has a bunch of sub forums under it. (Sliders, etc)

Oh, my bad. I think that's the way to go. I got lucky to be part of the 2K Associations HOF @ NLSC. I throw my hat for the committee, but obviously there are a lot of other members more qualified than me.

Thank you for reminding me. I would like to see this, but also know this will take time and energy that I don't have at the moment (though I may have more in 3-4 weeks).
