    Re: Florida Gators (CH2K5)

The Florida Gators have produced many NBA players, some successful, while others are still trying to find their way into a roster spot. They include Udonis Haslem of the Heat, Jason Williams and Mike Miller of the Grizzlies, and Matt Bonner of the Raptors.

Nevertheless, it's college basektball time and the Florida Gators are ready. They hope to bring some pride in the school and organization. Needed for this, are the players. So here is your '04-'05 Florida Gators...
    STARTING FIVE

    PG- Anthony Roberson; 6'1", JR
Roberson will be the leader of the team. He will be the focal point of the offense, with his range and court vision.

    SG- Matt Walsh; 6'6", JR
Walsh is the Gators sharp shooter. He can shoot from just about anywhere on the court. He is Roberson's favorite target on the wing.

    SF- Corey Brewer; 6'8", FR
The young freshman isn't expected to make an impact. However, he is a solid slasher who can throw the rock down... hard.

    PF- David Lee; 6'9", SR

This senior is the Gators' leader; being that he is the only senior on the team. He is the main scorer from the inside and can dunk, rebound, and defend in the low post.

    C-Adrian Moss; 6'9", JR
Moss isn't expected to do much, except for pull down the boards and make some plays defensively. He is pretty much just the big guy in the middle.

    BENCH
    G- Lee Humphry
    G- Taurean Green
    F- Chris Richard
    F- Joakim Noah
    F- Mohamed Abukar
    F- Cornelius Ingram
    F- Al Horford

It was Corey Brewer's first game as a Gator and had a great way of making his name known. Brewer, a freshman, led the game with 22 points to go along with his 6 rebounds. However, when asked about his performance, he said: "I played great and all, but I did airball a freethrow and the coach gave me a dirty look." Brewer was referring to a freethrow that he airballed late in the first half.

Brewer had help in the form of guard, Anthony Roberson, who dished out a game high, 9 assists, as well as scoring 14 points. Matt Walsh chipped in with 16 of his own points, but shot poorly going 4 of 12 on the court. David Lee, had a team high 10 rebounds with his 6 points.

The score would be of a greater margin, had the Gators played smarter basketball and had they sank their free-throws. As a team, they went 17 of 27, with 2 airballs- one from Brewer, the other from Walsh. "We better hit those next time," said Coach Laurence Bro, "because those are costly down the line."

For Jacksonville, forward, Haminn Quaintance, led the way, scoring 17 of his team's 60 points. He also had 8 boards and 2 blocks. David Lee, of the Dolphins mind you, scored 13 while center Ljubisa Vrcelj chipped in with 12.

                            Current Record: 1-0
                            Current Rank: #15
                            Current StreaK: Won 1
Next Up: Florida Atlantic Owls (0-1)
