Alumni Hall - New York, NY
    Syracuse 74
    St. John's 59

The Syracuse Orange opened Big East play on the road against a struggling St. John's team. Syracuse started out fast and got an early lead that lasted until the 2nd half but they broke down and St. John's got within only a few points before Hakim Warrick and Co. got their act together. Hakim Warrick led the team with 25 points, 12 rebounds, and 3 assists. Josh Pace is slowing becoming the 2nd star on this Orange team, he had 18 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists tonight. Gerry McNamara, although he gets his points, he is a very inconsistent shooter and misses a lot more than he makes. Coach Woodlock voiced his disappointment in his team's free throw shooting and he was absolutely right. Syracuse was 14-29 from the line and are one of the worst teams in FT%.

    Players of the Game
Hakim Warrick: 25 points, 12 rebounds, 3 assists
Darryll Hill: 8 points, 11 assists, 5 rebounds

    Key Players

Gerry McNamara: 17 points, 7 assists, 1 rebound

The Syracuse Orange opened Big East play at home tonight against the Seton Hall Pirates. Syracuse played well after their recent lackluster performances. The Orange are now 14-0 but could easily lose a game next week with 2 big road games. The first is on Monday night against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the other is against underrated Providence.

Easily the Orange's toughest opponent thus far in the season, Syracuse traveled to South Bend to face the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Syracuse jumped out to a huge lead in the first half leading by as much as 18 but Notre Dame kept on fighting. Gerry McNamara was definately the star for Syracuse, he scored a season high 33 points and dished out 8 assists. Hakim Warrick did his part with 22 points, 11 rebounds, and 5 assists. Josh Wright who just got put into the starting lineup at PG scored 11 and had 3 assists. The Irish inside game just flat out abused Syracuse, Torin Francis and Jordan Cornette combined for 41 of the 84 team points. Francis had 24 points, 11 rebounds, and 5 assists.

Does ND make a trip to the Carrier Dome later in the season?

                              Great win, keep it up.
