In an effort to decrease salary, the Tampa Bay Devil Rays have traded pitcher, Danys Baez to the Seattle Mariners for pitcher, Rafael Soriano. Both Baez and Soriano were playing in AAA baseball, but both will play for their major league team. Baez, due 3.6 million this year, has struggled in the Majors for Tampa Bay and their AAA team, the Durham Bulls.



Soriano will make his debut sometime during the series against the Toronto Blue Jays.

In other news, the Devil Rays have called up left handed relief pitcher, Joe Beimel and sent down a struggling first baseman, Travis Lee. Beimel is now the only left handed relief pitcher for the Rays.
