Milwaukee Brewers Owner Mode (MVP 2005)

Hey everyone. I am currently doing an owner mode with the Milwaukee Brewers and am about half way through the season. However, I wanted to post it on here so people can see. I've made a few changes to the team and I will update you about those happenings.

      Sheets covers up the D-Train
Ben Sheets was up against one of the up and coming players in the MLB. Dontrell Willis brought his 7-5 record into the game with the Brewers and the two aces put on a great performance. However, Ben Sheets was just too much. The Brewers first got on the board when Carlos Lee sacrified Saenez home in the 3rd Inning. The Marlins quickly regrouped with a little small ball with a triple by Pierre and then a sacrife to tie it at 1-1 in the 3rd. The Brewers then took the lead in the 6th and added a Jenkins HR in the 9th to go on to win 3-2. Capellan gave up a HR in the 9th but still converted his 26th save of the year.

        Brewers Scramble But Can't Win
The Brewers came into the game looking for their 3rd straight win. The game started off great with an opening inning home run by Carlos Lee. It was his 27th of the year and gave the Brewers a 1-0 lead. This is tied for the league lead for home runs. However, this would only last until the 3rd when the Marlins would tie it up on a series of hits. The Marlins would take the lead in the 6th with a double by Miguel Cabrera.

Scott Kazmirpitched well until the 8th inning when he grooved a slider inside to Cabrera and he belted it deep to left over the big wall. That mad it 4-1.

However the Brewers made it interesting with bases loaded in the 9th, Russell Branyan came to bat and drilled a pitch in the gap in right center. Everyone was coming around to score, and Matt Seanez rounded third base and the cutoff man gunned him down at home. He would have been the tying run and that would have save the Brewers this defeat, however, it was not meant to be. The Brewers face the fins two more times in the series and then head off to Atlanta before the break. They look to get closer to .500. On the hill tomorrow, is Chris Capuano vs. Al Leiter.

Brewers Have Hot Bats, But Can't Cool Down Fish
The Milwaukee Brewers have been playing pretty good baseball. They have not relied so much on the long ball and have been stringing together hits which generate runs. However, in tonights game, they were unable to do that.

The Brewers gave up 3 runs in the first inning when Chris Capuano was a little shaky to start. It all happened when Luis Castillo had a triple that sparked the crooked letter in the inning. THe Brewers tried to answer with 2 of their own in the 4th. BJ Upton had a 2 RBI double in the left centerfield gap.

The Brewers tried to pull even in the 9th with another late rally, however it again came up short. Brooks Kieschnik led the charge however they couldn't get more than his RBI single that scored Upton. The Brewers went on to the lose the game. They are on the verge of a 3-1 loss in the series if they lose again tomorrow night.

Brewers Split With Marlins Because Of De La Rosa

The Brewers needed a win to end a 2 game losing streak and break even on the series with the Florida Marlins. To do this they needed two things. They needed clutch hitting and they also needed a great pitching performance. They got both of these in the game tonight.

The Brewers started out the scoring in the second inning with a rally that plated 3. This included RBIs from Joe Mauer, Russell Branyon, and even the pitcher Jorge De La Rosa got into the hitting act with an RBI.

However the Marlins would not go quietly and they answered back int he 4th with a homerun by Luis Castillo. That was soon followed by Carlos Delgado two batters later when he hit his 9th of the season.

The Brewers however were not to be denied and in the 5th they came up with another run which would prove to be the clincher. Lyle Overbay would double in Joe Mauer from first base and the Brewers would grab a 4-2 lead.

The game would not have happened had it not been for the outstanding pitching of Jorge De La Rosa. He pitched 8 complete innings and only allowed 4 hits. 2 of which were Homeruns in the same inning. It was a great performance.

What would a Brewers win be without Jose Capellan would complete his 27th save of the season.

The Brewers not travel to Atlanta where they will face the Braves and former Brewers' closer Dan Kolb. Could come down to late game pitching and the two players that were traded for each other in the off-season.

                Jackson Wins Duel With Smoltz

When the Atlanta Braves and the Milwaukee Brewers came together they knew that it was going to be a great series. They had similar record and they saw that each team was going to play well. However, they didn’t know that runs were going to be so hard to come by.

This was because of a duel that was taking place between Edwin Jackson of Milwaukee and John Smoltz of Atlanta. Smoltz, the recently converted closer, who hard a great career as a starter earlier in his career was up to his old ways again. He pitched very well striking out 6 and only giving up 7 hits in 7.0 innings of work.

However, he was out done by Edwin Jackson. Jackson went 6.0 innings strong giving up only 4 hits and striking out 6. However, there were a few times that he was in trouble and the bull pen came to his rescue.

The Brewers scored the lone run in the game in the 4th. Carlos Lee had singled to center. The Brewers decided that it was time to try and get something started. So they put Lee in motion with Joe Mauer at the plate with only 1 out. Lee was going and low and behold Smoltz sent a pitch right over the middle of the plate and Mauer drove it to deep left centerfield. It was a gapper. Had Lee not been on the move, he probably wouldn’t have scored. The result was a 1-0 lead.

The Brewers did get out of a few jams in the 7th when Mike Adams got Chipper Jones to ground out to short with runners on 1st and 3rd. Jose Capellan also found himself in a jam. Runners on 1st and 2nd with no one out. He got the ground ball and the infielders turned 2. He then struck out Doonan to win the game.

The Brewers are now on a 2 game winning streak and look to lock up the series win tomorrow. The Brewers are now 41-45. Only 4 games under .500 with 2 games remaining before the All-Star Break.

                  Braves Attack Covered By Sheets

Ben Sheets is the ace of the staff for a reason. That is because he gets it done when the team needs it. Today the team needed the victory to continue its climb toward the .500 mark and continue the winning streak to 3. That is exactly what they got from the best pitcher on the Brewers.

Ben Sheets took a no-hitter into the 5th inning and gave up a bloop single to Adam LaRoche. The Brewers, however, had given him some support by that time and they gave him plenty. B.J. Upton sent a 2-1 fastball from Braves’ pitcher Mike Hampton into the left field seats for his six home run of the year. That gave Sheets all he would need.

Sheets did give up a HR in the 6th to Johnny Estrada, however, it was plenty. The Brewers went on to win the game by a score of 3-1. Russell Branyan added a HR in the 9th inning to give the Brewers extra padding.

Jose Capellan converted his 29th save of the year. In some tense moments in the 8th inning, Sheets left the game with an inflamed elbow. However, it is not that serious and he will only miss 9 days. This however, is somewhat good news. He now has the all-star break to rest his ailing elbow.

Scott Kazmir (4-7) 4.68 ERA vs. John Thomson(5-3) 3.35 ERA.

Re: Milwaukee Brewers Owner Mode (MVP 2005)

The Brewers are riding a 5 game winning streak into the All-Star Break. They are only 2 games under the .500 mark on the season and are looking to have their first winning season in 12 years.

Scott Kamir picked up the victory allowing 3 ER over 7 innings of work. The Brewers had a 4 Run 5th inning which lifted them to the victory after giving up 2 runs in the first.

Capellan picked up the save for his 30th of the year and now leads the league in saves. The Brewers go into the All-Star break relatively healthy and look to speed off in the second half.

Re: Milwaukee Brewers Owner Mode (MVP 2005)

The Milwaukee Brewers came into the season expecting great performances from Carlos Lee, Geoff Jenkins, and Ben Sheets. However, it turns out that none of them are the Brewers all star representative in this years game.

That distinction is held by a rookie in the league. Someone who is taking over for another all-star of the Brewers. In fact he was traded for him in the off-season. Jose Capellan, the major league leader in saves with 30, was the only choice for this years All-Star Game in Detroit for the Brewers.

He is having an outstanding year and as stated before leads the league in saves.

Carlos Lee is the lone Brewers' snub. He was leading the league in HR and batting a healthy .282 going into the break with 62RBI, which was good enough for 8th in the league. He is going to prove that he was a snub with his play in the second half.

                              Brewers Crush Nationals

The Brewers came out of the All-Star Break determined to get over .500 early on. This was evident in the rout that insued at The Dole Dome. Carlos Lee wanted to show everyone that he deserved to be on the All-Star team with his league leading 27 HR at the break. He did just that. He led off the game with a 2 Run HR in the first inning which was his 28th of the year. This gave the Brewers a 2-0 lead.

However, the Nationals were not going to go away that soon in the game. They came back with a 2 Run 5th Inning which included RBIs from Nick Johnson and Brian Schneider. This however, would be all the offense that the Nationals would generate.

Chris Capuano pitched 7.0 innings giving

BJ Upton hit a Grand Slam in the 7th Inning to life the Brewers over the Nationals.

up only 5 hits and 2 ER. The Nationals were then shut down by the relief pitchers for the Brewers. Mike Adams and Jeff Bennett came in for two scoreless innings of work. Striking out 3 of the Nationals and giving up 0 hits.

The Brewers however, took the lead in the game in the 7th inning just when Capuano had left the game. Junior Spivey pinch hit for Capuano and singled in a run with the bases loaded. Then up came BJ Upton and knocked a 2-1 pitched out of the park for his first grand slam of the season and his 6th HR. This gave the Brewers a commanding 9-2 lead and the Brewers went on to win by that score.

                              Brewers (44-45) vs. Nationals (35-54)

Jorge De La Rosa (4-3) 2.20 ERA vs. Tony Armas Jr. (1-4) 8.57 ERA
