Brewers Continue Winning Ways, Lose Upton For Season

The Brewers were looking to continue their winning streak and extend it to 6 games. They did exactly that on the shoulders of a great pitching performance. Jorge De La Rosa pitched excellently in his debut after the All-Star break. He continually shut down the Nationals and gave the Brewers all that he had.

De La Rosa pitched 8.0 solid innings and collected 7 strikeouts in the process. The only player on the Nationals that had marginal success was Christian Guzman who had 2 hits in the ball game.

The Brewers on the other had got the scoring started in the 4th with a Carlos Lee home run. His 29th of the year, which leads the MLB. The Brewers were again rallying in the 7th inning when tragedy struck. BJ Upton was running to first base and he pulled up lame. He thought it had to do something with his knee and he was carted off. Junior Spivey took his place in the lineup.

After the game it was shown that Upton was going to be out for the season with a torn MCL. This is a great setback in the development and success of the young shortstop for the Brewers who was acquired in June by the Brewers.

The Brewers went on to win 3-0 and continued their winning streak. They now look for the series win tomorrow.

        Brewers Break .500

When the second half of the season started the Brewers didn’t know they were going to rely on their pitching so much to start. But with their only representative in the All-Star game being a pitcher and outsider might have thought so. The Brewers definitely have struggled since the first game out of the break, but the pitching is what has been keeping them in ball games.

This time it was Edwin Jackson. The youngster pitched what would he a complete game in most games but didn’t get any run support so he wasn’t reworded for his efforts. He pitched all 9 innings and only gave up 4 hits. Livan Hernandez also pitched well for the Nationals.

The Brewers final got on the board in the 10th inning when the bases became loaded. The Brewers had Matt Seanez step up to the plate. All he had to do was hit it marginally deep because the infield and outfield were playing shallow. He got a 1-2 hanging slider and drilled it off the right field wall at The Dole Dome. It was almost a walk off grand-slam but it was just a RBI single for the youngster.

The Brewers extended their streak to 7 games and are the second hottest team in baseball. They look for the sweep of the Nationals tomorrow.

Re: Milwaukee Brewers Owner Mode (MVP 2005)

It is hard to beat a team 2 times in a row and even 3 times in a row is more difficult. However, in today’s day and age, the baseball series doesn’t end at 3 games all the time. Sometimes there are 4 game series and in order to sweep a team in a 4 game series you need a little luck and you need a very hot baseball team.

That is exactly what the Brewers are and that is exactly what the Brewers did to the Nationals on Sunday. The Brewers skipped the start of the 5th Starter and put the ball in the hand of Scott Kazmir. However, his outing started off kind of shaky. The Brewers left hander gave up 1 run in the first, third, and fifth innings of the ball game. However, he did get more run support than the Brewers had offered their last 2 starters.

In the 3rd Inning the Brewers put up a big number. It was a 5 and it all started with Geoff Jenkins. Jenks had a great day at the plate and he was 3 for 4 in the game. He increased his average to .301. The Brewers got 5 in the 3rd and then capped it off with a Jenkins homerun in the 6th.

Jose Capellan came on in the 9th to get the save even though he gave up a run. This was a rare run for the young closer , but it was good to get it out of the way with nothing on the line and a 3 run lead. It was his 32nd of the year.

The Brewers now have an 8 game winning streak and look to series against the Cardinals and the Reds for playoff positioning.

            Brewers Hot

Winning is really fun especially when it comes in bunches and the Brewers are definily on a streak where the wins keep coming. They are now on a 9 game winning streak after the 4-1 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals.

Ben Sheets made his comeback after his 9 game injury layoff. However, he didn’t miss any starts in th

e rotation because of the all-star break. He pitched marvelously and led the Brewers to victory. The ace of the staff went 8 innings only giving up 4 hits. He was great at getting the first man in the inning out and didn’t allow the sluggers of the Cardinals to get anything going.

The Brewers scored in the 3rd and 5th. The rally was lead again by Geoff Jenkins. He is on such a hot streak as of late and has his average up to .302 on the year. He hit his 22nd double of the year.

Again what would a Brewers win be without Jose Capellan converting on a save opportunity for the Brewers in the 9th. It was his 33rd of the year which leads the majors.

The Brewers are now on a 9 game streak. They are 10.5 games out of the division lead of the Cubs and only 5.0 games out of the Wildcard. However, they aren’t even the hottest team in the league as the Padres have won 13 in a row. The Brewers look for their 10th straight when Chris Capuano pitches tomorrow.

13-3 In July For Brew Crew

When you think about 10 in a row. 10 baskets in a row in basketball kind of difficult. 10 of anything in a row is hard. The Milwaukee Brewers have won 10 games in a row in the MLB. This is a great feat.

The Brewers got another quality start from a pitcher. Chris Capuano pitched 7 and a third innings only giving up 1 run. It was a home run to Albert Pujols who hit a 2 seam fast ball to the

opposite field stands in right. The Brewers however, had already given the left-hander a 2 run cushion.

Lyle Overbay doubled down the left field line and sat on second base with 2 men out when Carlos Lee came up to bat. The Brewers left fielder hit a rocket to the left field wall and it snuck over for a line drive home run. It was his 30th of the year which leads the MLB. He is on pace for 51 HR this season according to many services.

Jose Capellan came on in the ninth. Everything looked to be routine until he grooved a fast ball down the middle to John Mabry. However, Geoff Jenkins came to the rescue. He jumped up and robbed the homerun away from Mabry and then Capellan sat down the next 2 men to get the save and win for the Brewers.

The Brewers take on the Cardinals again on tomorrow. They look for the series win and their 11th straight win. They are still the second hottest team in baseball as the Padres won 14 in a row. Rickie Weeks went down with a fractured nose and is expected to miss 3 games.

Capellan Leads Cy Young, Sheets 3rd...Lee 2nd in MVP voting

The Milwaukee Brewers are having a great season. In July the Brewers were 10 and a half games back and they were in 4th place in the Central Division. Since then they have been on a tear. The Brewers have won 10 games or more in a row on 3 occasions and the fans are very happy in Milwaukee.

Jose Capellan, the top prospect from the Braves organization, has done a great job in his first year with Milwaukee. He has been closing games very well and leads the league with 49 saves. He also sports a 1.94 ERA and is leading the National League Cy Young Voting. The rest of the list includes one more Brewers Ben Sheets

                  10. Brett Tomko SF

Another great story for the Brewers has been the play of Carlos Lee. He has been everything that they expected in the trade with the Chicago WhiteSox and more. He leads the league in homeruns with 49 and RBIs with 121. He is batting .310 and is currently second in MVP voting for the National League.

There are also some surprises in the division leaders as well. Of course the Brewers as well as San Diego, New York Mets, and the Chicago Cubs are in position for the playoffs.

In the American League, the Mariners, Tigers, Red Sox and Orioles are ready for the playoffs. With only a month remaining it should be crazy.

                    Shining Sheets

Ben Sheets had a great year last year. He is having the best year of his career this year however. He may not have the strikeout total of last year, but he sure has the most wins of his career. He has put the Brewers on his back and validated his status as one of the best pitchers in the majors.

Today, was Ben Sheets day. He struck out 16 as he pitched against the San Diego Padres. He pitched a complete

He got run support tonight from Russell Branyan who hit 2 homeruns and Matt Seanez added another. The Brewers went on to win 3-0. They now have a record of 87-50.

The Brewers are 44-5 since the all-star break. They have been ripping the cover off the ball and have posted a team ERA of 2.91. They have now won 13 in a row and look to go for 14 tomorrow vs. San Diego.

I am playing on default allstar and I'm going to go up to MVP next year. Yes it is fun to win all of the games. I wouldn't say that it would never happen, because the Brewers do actually have a lot of talent in the minors and such. They could be very good in a few years. But yeah, I'm playing on All-Star and it is very fun trying to build my stadium and winning all the games. My pitching is what is carrying me. Bumping it up to MVP will only make it harder so I'm excited for the challenge.
