Return to Glory: Coach Hat Isback's Diary (HC 09)

Well, it's finally here. I am going to be starting a head coaching dynasty. I love head coach. I think it's better than Madden quite honestly. Here is some info.

    Platform: Playstation 3
    Rosters: Most current with patch
Sliders: A version of Claystone's that have given me good results.

I will have more up in a bit. Thanks for reading.

After my historic college season with SUNC (Southeastern University of North Carolina for who may not know), I was anticipating some type of offer from the next level, the NFL. In case you haven't been following college football lately, SUNC was the first Division I-AA team to ever win the BCS Title game, defeating the University of Florida 33-31 with a last second fieldgoal. Tim Tebow, trying to make the media suck on his jock even more, tried to throw to a then wide open open Percy Harvin. It was picked off by my star cornerback Patrick Murphy. We were able to drive into fieldgoal range and kicked it right through, busting the BCS favortism and forcing them to really considerate using a playoff system.

I have been hearing through the grapevine of ESPN and Fox Sports (who aren't that credible to begin with) that some NFL teams are considering hiring me as their head coach. Whether or not that is true, as of right now I do not know. I have always dreamed of coaching in the pros, leading my team to a victory in the Superbowl. I imagine sometimes my bust in the Hall of Fame. Just thinking of it makes the hairs on my neck stand up. I can just see walking with my grandson and son into the hall of fame, looking at all of the players and coaches that made the game what it is. Seeing Coach Lombardi, Bill Walsh, Hat Isback..........what an honor that would be.

I figure that it will be a team on the rebuilding stage. Most likely it will be teams like Oakland, Baltimore, Washington, Miami.....god I hope not. Detroit as well. That might be fun, since the Packers are my favorite pro team. Coaching against them twice a year would be great and I would also get the satisfaction of beating the Bears as well. HA! As of right now though, no calls. It doesn't really matter to me if anyone calls at all. If it doesn't happen, I still have a great team at SUNC.

Today was a pretty good day. My dream finally came true. I had three NFL franchises call me offering me the head coaching job! I am so excited and thrilled that they would hire me. Now comes the hard part. I do not know who I should go with......the Browns, 49ers, or the Bills. Each have their own pros and cons.

The Browns proved that they can be a winning team last year with their record of 10-6. Derek Anderson was voted to the pro bowl and Jamal Lewis bounced back after a down season in Baltimore. Braylon Edwards and Kellen Winslow are great receivers but the defense is suspect. Sure the Browns won alot of games, like I have previously said, but they won outscoring opponents. The Browns have never been used to winning so this year they will probably go down. Not since before the NFL-AFL merger have they won a championship. I figure it would be quite a challenge to bring them back to prominence.

The 49ers need help all around. Quarterback, receiver, defense, it is just a complete mess. Frank Gore, Patrick Willis and Nate Clements are pretty much the only playmakers that they have right now. Not since the Montana and Young years have they been a serious contender for the Superbowl, but they probably will not be for some time.

The Bills are an interesting prospect, just because I love a great defense. The good thing about the Bills is no matter who goes down in that defense, players always seem to step up and play more than human. The offense is decent, with Marshawn Lynch and Lee Evans, and Trent Edwards is an okay quarterback prospect. Maybe a couple more years and he can be in the elite status.

Whoever I choose, it is going to be great when I get into their headquarters and start running a pro football team the way I thought it should always be run.

I wonder if Chad Johnson will tell us.
