On the FIRST play against the New York Jets, the Buffalo Bills saw their season go up in flames.

Trent Edwards suffered a compound fracture to his throwing arm. It happened after a Kris Jenkins late hit sent Edwards to the ground.

"I am bothered by what I saw.", said WR Lee Evans as he knelt on the sidelines.

It is now a matter of recovering and trying to come back from this injury for Edwards.

"I have a strong family in the Bills and I know they are behind me 100%. Even T.O. stopped by to see how I was doing, he's a great guy - even if he is a Jet now."

The Bills finished the Pre-Season 0-4

Buffalo Releases Edwards
After team doctors spoke with Edwards, Coach Rivera and CEO Bruce Smith it was determined that Edwards' career could be threatened by this injury.

Since this is a business, the Bills and Edwards agreed to the release. Smith did give Edwards $5 Million dollars as part of the release - he was expected to receive a contract renewal in the upper $50 - 60 Million range after this season.

"We wish Trent Edwards the absolute best. We hope he can come back and play football again." - Ron Rivera

Asked if there was a chance that Edwards could come back as a Bill if he heals, Smith said, "Trent won the hearts of Bills fans last year, if he comes back from this injury, we will have to fight for him - a lot of teams will want him."

Rookie Quarterback, Tony Pike looked like a veteran in his first NFL game. After throwing his first career interception (in the endzone no less) to Charles Woodson, he went on to complete 9 straight passes and finished the game with 425 yards and 3 TDs to go with that 1 INT.

Marshawn Lynch had a great game as he gained 94 yards and scored 1 TD (other than a fumble on the 1-yard line on the first drive of the game).

The Bills have one of the most dynamic receiving corps in the NFL and it showed in Pike's ability to spread the ball to 8 different players.

Marshawn Lynch had 7 receptions for 87 yards and 1 TD.
Santana Moss had 93 yards on 5 catches and Brandon LaFell took his first career reception 60 yards for a touchdown.
