Re: The Music City Miracle [Titans Madden 11]

    Training Camp 2011

    Titans Notes
    • Chris Johnson Holds Out | The Titans star wants a new contract and he's planning on holding out until he gets one. Johnson, who broke Erick Dickerson's record of rushing yards in a season with 2,343 last year, is scheduled to make just $2.23 million in 2011, a disappointing amount for a star such as Johnson. "I wanna get like, you know, ten or twelve a year," said Johnson in an interview. "That'll be good. Six years, seventy million. Straight up." No word yet on how the contract negotiations are going. The Titans have signed ex-Falcon Jerious Norwood to take Johnson's spot for the time being.
    • Tuck Enjoying His New Team | Justin Tuck has played his entire six year career with the New York Giants. Now, he's a part of the Tennessee Titans after a Draft Day Trade sent him to Nashville. "I'm liking it here a lot," said Tuck after practice. "Coach Fisher is an impressive guy. He knows a lot, and runs a great practice. I can't wait to play here."
    • McRath Ready For Starting Role | Titans linebacker Gerald McRath is entering training camp this year considered the starter despite missing a majority of last year with an injury. "It's a great chance for me to succeed. I'm excited to step up and become an important role for this team."
    • Rookie Safety Somerville Looking Impressive | Fifth round pick Lorenzo Somerville out of Clemson has impressed coaches already through training camp running down some of the fastest players on the team [99 speed]. He can also explode off the line with the best of them [99 acceleration] and has proved to be very agile [95]. Head coach Jeff Fisher has announced that he'd like to see Somerville play a few returns in the second half of their preseason opener against the 49ers.

    NFL Notes
    • Jets CB Revis Holds Out | You all knew it was coming. Darrelle Revis is holding out. Revis has stated he wants to be the highest paid cornerback in the league, which would require him to receive a contract that pays him nearly seventeen million dollars this year, as Nnamdi Asomugha is slated to make $16.90 million this year on the Raiders. Although rumors have come that Revis could be traded, it's unlikely that anyone will be interested in giving up the price tag the Jets will probably ask for him.
    • Bills Shopping Running Backs | CJ Spiller is set to take on the starting role despite not seeing any time on the field in 2010 and with twenty-five year old Marshawn Lynch plummeting down the depth chart, the Bills are talking trade. Fred Jackson, at thirty years old, could also be on the block if there isn't enough interest for Lynch.
    • 49ers Excited About New QB | Late in the first round, the 49ers selected Southern Mississippi quarterback Adam McCann after both Alex Smith and Shaun Hill were released. McCann, a 6'3" 220-pound wowed many with his impressive arm strength [96] but slipped down from the top ten with throwing on the run [65] and deep ball accuracy [74]. McCann is slated to battle Ball State product Nate Davis for the starting role.

Okay guys, need some advice. What do you thinks Revis is worth? I would assume at least two first round picks, probably a third as well. But what if it was a deal for a comparable (same age, A potential) player in the mid 90s? First, Third, and player? I haven't done a lot of looking yet, but it's crossing my mind. I'd love to hear some opinions as I work through the preseason.

Hey thanks. VY is in the last year on his contract, so this is a huge year for him. If he doesn't succeed, the VY Era of the Titans could be over. Big season coming up.

PS | CJ is not actually holding out. I'm just story lining this because I'm expecting that's what would happen.

          Titans Lock CJ2K
It's officially done. Chris Johnson or 'CJ2K' by many, has ended his hold out. Johnson, who was looking for a six year deal in the range of seventy plus million dollars accepted a blockbuster deal, trumping Maurice Jones-Drew's contract this past off-season as the largest contract for any running back. MJD signed a nearly sixty million dollar deal over six years earlier this year, but Johnson 'one-upped' him by signing a massive seven year contract worth eighty-seven and a half million dollars over those seven years. The Titans struggled with just 140 yards rushing over their last two preseason games with Johnson not suiting up or attending. Though they struggled rushing, they did go undefeated over that two game stint. When asked about his new contract as Johnson came to camp, he merely said, "it's ring time boys. Time to go get us one of them Super Bowl rings. Aight?" Seems as if CJ2K is ready for another chapter.

Revis Ends Holdout, Reports to Camp
Forcing a potential lock out of the season, Darrelle Revis has reportedly reported to camp, despite not getting a new contract from the New York Jets. Officials close to Revis said the star cornerback will look for a new deal in the off-season. "If Darrelle doesn't get a new deal then, we'll look for trade options, or potentially sit out the season and become a free agent." said the source.

Titans Finish Preseason 2-2, Start Season on the IR
After two weeks, the Titans weren't looking too bad. Yes, Jake Scott was out for nearly two months with a torn quad, but that was the only nagging injury. Unfortunately, over the last two weeks, not only would they lose two games, they'd lose player after player, and appear to have five or more players not suiting up for their season opener against the Cincinnati Bengals. That list includes backup offensive tackle Michael Otto, who's out a month with a broken hand, newly acquired defensive end Justin Tuck, who will miss half the season with a broken collarbone and two tight ends, Jared Cook Jr [3 weeks] and Bo Scaife [6 weeks] with a meniscus tear and dislocated hip respectively. The Titans are reported to be talking to veteran Tony Scheffler to fill the gap left by the injured tight ends.

            Johnson Looks Explosive
It didn't take long for Chris Johnson to look impressive again in the preseason. In fact, it took all of two plays. Johnson motioned out of the backfield, caught a Vince Young pass over his shoulder and was gone for a seventy-two yard score. Playing sparingly over the two games, Johnson seemed in form and looking to be ready to go.

                      Nashville, TN
Tye Hill's two kick returns for touchdowns sealed the fate of the still winless Jacksonville Jaguars. Hill returned the opening kick off 100 yards for a score, and directly after a Jaguar touchdown drive, Hill did it again, giving the Titans a 14-7 lead early. Later in the game, he would also return a punt for a score, but it would be called back for an illegal block in the back.

Vince Young struggled, mustering just a 29.8 rating for the game. He was just 11-of-21 for 119 yards with two interceptions. It appears that many in Nashville are getting antsy to possibly sit Young with his dismal play. Chris Johnson had another 100 yard game as he topped 123 yards with a touchdown in the win.

Simply put, I don't even want to talk about this game. Vince was so bad in the first half, I benched him. Started Dixon and he performed even worse. That said, I think I tried too hard with Dixon. Oh well, 3-1 on the season, getting some of my starters back from injuries, everyone should be back in four weeks. One more week and my offensive line is back intact (Jake Scott comes off injury). Hopefully that will change something. I'm just really upset how this game turned out, I should of played better.

                        ----

Side note. The last two games, I knocked the quarter length down to nine minutes and I love it. Feels much more realistic, and offense is a little bit more limited it seems.

                          ESPNews.com Breaking News Report

                          VINCE YOUNG TRADED
                          Paul Kuharsky Reports

In a shocking move, the Tennessee Titans have announced a trade including starting quarterback Vince Young. Young is reported to have been packaged with fellow offensive player, receiver Nate Washington, and sent to the Seattle Seahawks, who at 1-3, are looking for a move to make a push. In return, the Titans receive a pair of draft picks for the 2012 NFL Draft. Seattle will compensate them with both a second round selection and a fourth round selection. Should Young not play in at least seventy-five percent of Seattle's fourteen remaining games, the Titans will have to compensate the Seahawks a fifth round pick in the same 2012 Draft.

Although members from the Seattle Seahawks were not available for comment, Titans General Manager Mike Reinfeldt was. "We felt it was a necessary move. I know it's a difficult situation, as he was drafted so high and has played so well for us at times. However, that said, we feel that this is the better option right now. We're ready to move on with Dennis [Dixon] or potentially a new franchise quarterback in the upcoming draft." Head coach Jeff Fisher also commented on the trade, "I'm disappointed that it had to come to this. However, we, as an organization, feel it's the best move to make. I, we, wish Vince all the best of luck and hope to see him thrive with Pete Carroll and the Seahawks." Vince Young himself was not available for comment.

Nate Washington had continued to slip down the depth chart and began seeing limited reps because of it. He'll be a great slot receiver for Young in Seattle with both TJ Houshmanzadez and Golden Tate ahead of him on the depth chart.

Gamer's Note | This is the first of two major mid-season trades that will be made, the only one regarding these teams. The other is the Pats-Panthers, and that will be after the next game. Anyway, I felt it was the right thing. If Young didn't perform, I'd never have a chance at getting anything in return. He's still got potential, I just can't "hone" it so to speak. He's got a good 5-7 years left in the tank and has some great receivers to work with in Seattle. They had Hasselbeck starting, who, let's be honest, sucks. I knew I wanted a second round pick for him, so I felt adding Washington, who I think is worthy of a third rounder, would be worth a second and fourth. Washington should thrive in the slot.

It's not a move I had thought about until the preseason. He wasn't playing well, so I picked up Dixon and Dixon played decent. Suddenly, I'm thinking, maybe Vince isn't ever going to improve. We'll see how it works out. I've now got five picks in the first four rounds (no third rounder in Tuck trade) to play with. We'll see what happens.
