Sounds good. Can't wait to see how Andre Booker does for me next year (the HB that transferred from Marshall).

Thanks, I misunderstood the original posts.. I thought the recruits were being created in the 2010 season, not the 2011 season.

        thanks again.

          WEEK 2 RECAP

          (1-0) VS

          GAME PREVIEW

When the EWU Eagles made the transition to FBS Division I, Coach Beau Baldwin stated his first goal was to establish a heated rivalary with the Washington State Cougars located just 89 miles away.

Washington and Washington State have the Apple Cup.
Idaho and Washington State have the Battle of the Palouse.

Having not played each other in over 100 years, this rivalary needs a name. Both schools set out polls in both Pullman and Spokane and the winner was announced.

          The Paul Wulff Trophey

The Paul Wulff trohey is named after fromer EWU and WSU Head Coach Paul Wulff. Coach Wulff coached EWU from 2000-2007 compilling a 53-40 record and took the Eagles to 3 DII Playoff Appearences.

In 2008 he accepted the position at WSU where he play O-Line from 1986-1989.

From 2008-20010 Coach Wulff struggle at WSU going just 2-33 and just 1-26 in the Pac-10.

WSU had seen enough. Wulff was let go and Joe Nelson (JPCaveman) was hired.

Not much is know about Coach Nelson, but he made huge waves in Pullman as he announced the first thing he would do is install a run dominating Offense that would include alot of I-Formation attacks.

          THE GAME RECAP

EWU would dominate the 1st Quarter. SS Z. Johnson would pick off a J. Tuel pass and return it 50 yds for the "Pick 6" to give EWU the 7-0 lead. Then after a 3 and out, Tawain Jones would show his big play ability taking a option play 80 yds for the TD to put EWU up 14-0. After another 3 and out, EWU would tack on a 28 yd FG to make it 17-0 at the end of the 1st Quarter.

Again the Cougars would fail to move the ball and were forced to punt and with 4 minutes to play in the half, backup RB D. Beaumonte would score from 13 yds out to make it 24-0. WSU however wasn't ready to give up yet and with 2 mintues to play C. Winston would break off a 31 yd run for the score. WSU would go for 2pt but fail making it 24-6. With less the 2 minutes to play in the half, most assumed we would see a healthy dose of T. Jones, but instead Bo Mitchell went to the air throwing a INT that would later set up another WSU score as Jeff Tuel hits G. Simone on a 3rd pass to make it 24-13 at the half.

Both team would struggle at the start of the 2nd half, but with 3 minutes to play Tuel would hit TE S. Stormo on a 21 pass to make it 24-20. A minute laster, EWU would finally get back on the scoreboard as Mitchell finds B. Kauffman from 27 yds out to make it 31-20 but with 41 seconds to play in the 3rd, C. Winston would score his 2nd TD of the game again on a 31 yd scamper. WSU however would miss the extra point making it 31-26.

Up by less the a touchdown, Coach Baldwin knew his team needed to put points on the board but after a Bo Mitchell INT, WSU would add a 23 yd FG to make it 31-29 with 2:56 to play. Looking to run out the clock, EWU kept the ball on the ground but with 25 seconds to play, QB B. Mitchell was hit fumbling the ball, giving WSU the ball in Field Goal range. However J. Tuel wasn't think FG and hit R. Jiles on a 26 yd pass that would set up a 4 yd TD run by C. Winson with 22 seconds to play. Mitchell would get his chance after hitting B. Kauffman on a 40 yd pass, Bo Levi would launch a ball into the endzone but WSU was ready as they get the INT to seal the win, and their 1st Paul Wulff Trophey.

Coach Baldwin comments "This is a frustrating loss. I am going to shoulder the blame. We had this game won in the 1st half, but played stupid in the 2nd half, and gave up way to many yards and let them have the ball way to often"

Coach Nelson comments "It was great to get my 1st W, but even better that it was for the Paul Wulff Trophey (the man I replaced) and against EWU. They are a solid football team and I look foward to next year's battle in Pullman.

Tough and frustrating loss for EWU. Just have to make sure you repay the favor next season against WSU.

Booker is lightening quick! He tried to transfer to Buffalo after my second season and I was able to talk him into returning to MU. I use him as a returner and work him into the running game as a back-up.

Very frustrating. I played stupid in the 2nd half, but they also did a great job of stopping T. Jones. Even though he finished with 102 yds, 80 of those came on 1 play so the rest of the game he was 15 carries for 22 yds. Not excactly big time back #'s.

I got the Oregon vs BSU game and EWU vs Oregon State games played. Have to go back to work tomorrow and Wed but should have time to post them in the evening. Look for Recruiting Updates in Week 5 which should be available on Thursday my next day off.

                      WEEK 3

                      #5 vs #10

                      GAME PREVIEW

In 2009, BSU opened up the season against Oregon on "The Blue" now it was the Broncos turn to travel visiting Autzen Stadium "The Zoo". Ranked #13 as the toughest place to play with Sold out crowds avg over 56,000. The Ducks have compiled a 294-164 record well playing at home.

The 2009 game made even more national coverage after the game as RB L. Blount punched MLB B. Hout after exchanging some trash talk. Blount is gone, but Hout remains starting at MLB and is ready to resume his trash talking skills.

                      GAME RECAP

QB K. Moore has played better then anyone in Week's 1 win over Georgia and Week 2's win over San Diego State throwing for over 800 yds 10 TD and 2 INT.

Tonight would be no different. Moore would connect on TD passes of 35 yds (T. Shoemaker) and 73 yds (TE K. Efaw) as BSU took a 14-9 lead in the 1st Quarter.

In the 2nd Quarter D. Martin would score his 2nd TD of the year and FR S. Brown would add a FG as BSU took a 24-12 lead into the haf.

In the 3rd Quarter it was the Kellen Moore show once again as he connects on TD passes to his brother Kirby (13 yds) and another 67 yd pass to Tyler Shoemaker, to help BSU to a 34-19 lead at the end of the 3rd.

Oregon would rally in the 4th scoring on 3 Touchdowns, 2 by RB K. Barner (2 yd pass and 4 yd run) after a INT by K. Moore his only mistake on the night. The Ducks would go for the 2pt Conversion on all 3 attempts converting 2 of 3 to take a 41-39 lead with 2:56 to play.

Leading his team back onto the field, Moore would complete 4/4 passes helping set up a 4 yd TD run by D. Martin (his 2nd of the day) with 1:23 to play to give BSU the 45-41 lead. Oregon's D. Thomas who had also already thrown 4 TD's on the day would try and make it 5 as he lead the Ducks down the field for the game winning drive, but FS C. Febis would step up huge picking off the pass in the endzone to perserve the win.
                      FINAL SCORE BSU-45 OREGON-41

POST GAME COMMENTS BY COACH PETE

"Obviously I am proud of how the guy's played tonight. Kellen was amazing as usual. His lone INT was a tip ball by the D-Line. Our "D" played great for 3 quarters, but you could tell they were starting to get tired in the 4th. I take responsiblity for not subbing in more guys and keep them fresh. I am really proud of TE K. Efaw. He has been a huge weapon for us, with Pettis and Young gone, he has done a great job of streatching the field and giving us a deep ball option down the field. (He has 20 catches for 402 yds and 2 TD's in the last 2 games)

UP NEXT- (1-1) UTEP in the Home Opener at Bronco Stadium, now rated the #2 Toughest place to play.

It was about a 20 yd pass, that I grabbed in the endzone, kneeled down and then let Martin run out the clock.

Great game! Glad to see you pulled out the victory over the Ducks. Close games like that are always fun, but stressful at the same time. lol. Know the feeling cause both my Iowa and Nevada games this past season were both just as close.

Looking forward to seeing the EWU results.
