Missouri Tigers push Miami Hurriances to 0-5 in Fiesta Bowl
Tigers outgain Hurricanes 550 to 172 in 42-6 victory
The Fiesta Bowl is not something most Miami Hurricane Fans care to talk about.
Whether it's the 1985 battle vs UCLA, the heart breaking 1987 national championship loss to Penn State, the 29-0 drubbing to Arizona in 1994, or the lost national champion to Ohio State in 2003 it's just a sore subject.
The 2016 Fiesta Bowl was never in doubt, as Miami took the opening kickoff and started their drive at the 22 yard line. Jarod Steele threw a bullet to K. Hall from Missouri, who took it to the house for a 31 yard interception return and a 7-0 lead.
Miami marched down to the Tiger's 3 yard line before fumbling the ball, and Missouri took over on their own two yard line. 17 plays and 98 yards later, and the Tiger's were celebrating a 14-0 lead thanks to J. Ross's 3 yard dive.
After taking a 21-0 lead after one period, and a 35-0 lead after the first half Missouri let off the gas and coasted to the finish, allowing two Miami field goals, one in each period of the second half.
Missouri POTG: Nick Bailey went 17 for 21 for 211 yards and 1 TD
K. Hall had 5 tackles, 2 INT, and 1 defensive TD
J. Ross had 16 carries for 105 yards and 1 TD
"It was a great game, and I am proud to have seen us play so well," Joey Davis said about the Missouri Tigers effort. "When the defense plays so well, we gave up under 200 yards total all game, it's hard not to win. The offense played great also, it was never in doubt."Comment

Utah edges Nevada 45-43 in triple OT
Nevada's perfect year came to a close in a bad way as Utah's Tyler Robinson dove into the endzone to end the 3rd overtime with a 2pt conversion, giving Utah the 45-43 victory.
Nevada played ahead the entire game, up 10-0 at halftime, and 24-14 at the end of the third quarter. Utah closed the gap and forced overtime at 27-apiece thanks to a 31 yard field goal that barely cleared the bar with 27 seconds left.
The Utes and Wolfpack each gained a touchdown in the first OT, and a field goal apiece in the second overtime, making it 37-37 going into the 3rd OT.
Nevada had the firepower, but lacked the depth, and it hurt late. They lose a lot of seniors this year, so don't expect a return to the BCS next season.

Re: When the Defense Roars: Missouri Tigers Dynasty
I'll just modify the Big East, probably move C-USA there, split the MAC into 2 groups (MAC East will be CUSA, MAC West will just be the MAC).
The +1 will be the hard part, because to do it I have to play the whole season, then go back in time to a saved pre-season dynasty, schedule the #1 vs #4, #2 vs #3, and then go back again and do it yet again.
Thank you all for following. I had a lot of fun and will continue to play this dynasty, but posting is now finished. I will post all the bowl results either tonight or tomorrow.Last edited by Kcordloh; 02-14-2012, 09:54 PM.Comment

Re: When the Defense Roars: Missouri Tigers Dynasty
So I finally stopped playing this dynasty.
Made it to 2021.
2017
Missouri won the 2017 National Championship over Boise State. Missouri went 13-0 in the regular season, defeating #2 Kansas in the Border Showdown 35-32.
Boise State finished ranked #3 at 12-1, their lone loss coming to Nevada.
Missouri beat #4 Kansas in a re-match, 47-35. Boise State defeated #3 Stanford (12-1) 19-10, and then Missouri won the BCS Title 41-20 over Boise State.
Missouri finished 15-0.
2018
Missouri lost twice, to Arkansas (13-2) 27-20 and to Kansas (15-0) 35-0. They finished 11-2, winning the Capital One Bowl over #15 Michigan (9-3) 7-0.
2019
The 2019 Tigers were a steel curtain throwback, no offense except running the ball. But they had an insane defense, ranked #1 in every category except interceptions (#5).
Missouri went 13-2, winning the Big XII title over Kansas 6-0. They were ranked #1, but lost to #4 Alabama (11-2) 9-6. They then lost the Fiesta Bowl to #11 USC (10-2).
2020
Missouri went 9-3, losing to #1 Arkansas (15-0) and #2 Utah (14-1) in the regular season. They lost to #20 Ohio State in Outback Bowl 23-17.
Arkansas beat Utah for the BCS National Championship 63-42 in a lights out offensive game.
2021
The Missouri Tigers lost the season opener to #2 Michigan 14-0. They then went on a 12 game winning streak, beating #1 Oklahoma 44-0 in the Big XII Championship to become #3 in the nation. They upended #2 Michigan (13-0 at this point) 35-7, and then whooped #4 SMU (14-0 at this point) to win the 2021 BCS Championship, their 3rd National Championship.
It was a great dynasty, and I enjoyed it.
Sold my copy yesterday. So it's completely history on my hard drive now.Comment
