Re: No More Brady - A Ryan Mallett Patriots Story (Madden 13)

    2012 - Week #12

Packers in Flux - Big Loss for the Packers as Clay Matthews' season has come to a disappointing end.

Jacoby Ford Doesn't Miss A Beat - Jacoby Ford brought back 2 TDs off of punts versus the Bengals in 38-24 win.

Determined to Score - Adding a "one" to the win column is the goal every week, and Santonio Holmes helped make that happen with 2 TDs this week.

    S. Greene Runs It In - Shonn Greene's 2 TD runs were enough to give the Jets a 47-27 win over the Patriots

Born to Play QB - Peyton Manning continues to deal with the extra eyes that are fixed on him. He's 2nd all time on the passing TD list.

Results in from East Rutherford - The Jets would not be denied this week as they walked away with a 47-27 win versus the Patriots.

Home-field Disadvantage - The Giants were at home, but they could not get the win. They fall 32-20 to the visiting Panthers.

    See Who's Tweetin'
@SkipBaylessEA - Best way to win over your fan base: win at home. #Giants didn't get that memo.
@RossTuckerEA - You can see the Eagles have been coached up to try and take some risks to force some turnovers.
@RossTuckerEA - K. Williams was just exploding in to the backfield this week, big reason why he had 7 sacks.
@RossTuckerEA - 1,000-yd rushers aren't what they used to be, but it's not like you don't want Marshawn Lynch on your team.
@SkipBaylessEA - Running backs may be less important now, but you can't tell me Matt Forte getting 1,000 yards is a bad thing.
@SkipBaylessEA - You just get a sense that the offensive chemistry is better with Calvin Johnson Jr. on the field.
@LArringtonEA - Home sweet home for New York -- they get the win.
@SkipBaylessEA - Look, at some point the defense should have stepped up and showed some pride in the secondary.
@MattMillerEA - Strong showing by Shonn Greene who butchered the Patriots defense this week.
@WingozEA - 1,000 yards for Shonn Greene, and would you really be surprised if he just keeps on trucking?
@SkipBaylessEA - You're paid to score touchdowns, and Peyton Manning gets paid well. #recordwatch #touchdownterror
@WingozEA - Santonio Holmes decided more than a few fantasy matchups this week. #crucial
    @SCollins - J. Ford was a gamebreaker this week. Please don't argue.
@RossTuckerEA - Stay focused Packers. Losing Clay Matthews hurts but there are games to be played.
@mortreportEA - Per sources, ROLB Clay Matthews is lost for the rest of the year. #IR
@WingozEA - Incompetent, unskilled, terrible -- words I would not use to describe Joe Flacco. #AFCPoW
@MikeHillEA - Can always be surprised by players like Robert Griffin III that steup up during the year. #NFCPoW
@Donny_Moore - Two things are certain this wk...1) R. Griffin III is not playing like a rook 2) Somebody getting some Madden Ratings love in the next roster update...
@AdamSchefter - Announcement was just made, Gary Brackett the #NFCPoW
@MikeHillEA - Lot of good performances this week, surprise of the week has to be Mark Anderson though. #AFCPoW

Re: No More Brady - A Ryan Mallett Patriots Story (Madden 13)

Pats look stale, but still win...
Miami shows why they are 2-10
          PATRIOTS 20 - Dolphins 7

Miami, FL - Ahhhhhh, the warm weather on a nice December day. It was 73 degrees in sunny Miami and the Patriots were soaking up every second of it. New England got a must win today as they were ahead when the final whistle blew. Let me read you a headline that sums up the game and you tell me how the Patriots won...

Mallett continues with another interception and Ridley averages less than 1 yard per carry...

Well to my amazement they ended up on top. Ridley was taken out shortly after the start of the second half for poor performance and Mallett looked decent but couldn't find the end zone as much as he should have against the Dolphins. Sure, they won, but what a boring game to watch. I said it myself on the Power Rankings post: Game to sleep through!

Ok, so on to some of the "decent" recaps to the game. Chandler Jones and Ras-I Dowling found the QB twice and the New England secondary was able to pick off 2 balls. What a different defense this was compared to last week's Jets game. They showed up to play and that's all I care about. This win goes to the defense!

With the Patriots at 6-6 with 4 games to go, we have to think ahead to see how much of a shot they have at making the playoffs. Next week is in Foxboro against the 7-4-1 Houston Texans. They have the 8th rank defense but are weak offensively this year. The Jets lost which leaves the Patriots only 1 game behind them in the East. Keep in mind that New York has beat them twice this year and has the tiebreaker.

The Jets have a fairly easy schedule with the Jags, Titans, Chargers, Bills. We can see them winning atleast two of the games which would put them at 9-7. Patriots would need to win all 4 remaining games to take the AFC East. The wildcard is the better option, but the way it looks, the Patriots would have to get 3 out of 4 wins at the minimum.

We all have to stay tuned to watch to see if the Patriots can do the improbable. See you on the gridiron in Foxboro, Massachusetts on a cold winter's day!

Re: No More Brady - A Ryan Mallett Patriots Story (Madden 13)

I hope you didn't ignore the Week 11 recap...Kyle Williams got 7 sacks in one game. I was then ready for him to be written into the Players of the Week, but lo and behold....he didn't win.

I'm not griping about how the PoW is calculated in Madden but I hope something goes into it next week. Give each stat category a point system so you can compare offensive and defensive stats to give everyone a chance.

Let's take a look on defense first. On average the highest sack leader is a little over double than the leading interception leaders. Give sacks 1 point and interceptions 2 points. Give tackles 0.5 points and Forced Fumbles/Fumbles recovered 1 point each. Defense done.

Offense is hard, but I would follow fantasy football stats to rank them.

End of rant......how do you think I did against the Dolphins?

Re: No More Brady - A Ryan Mallett Patriots Story (Madden 13)

                2012 - Week #13

Out With The Old - J. Schwartz is going to a fresh look by choosing to remove Kevin Smith from the starting halfback position this week.

2 TDs for Vincent Jackson - Vincent Jackson was a focal point for the Buccaneers today, and he came through with 2 TD grabs.

Always Ready - Tony Gonzalez continues to chase after many of the greats that came before him on the all-time receiving yards list. He has just surpassed Cris Carter.

Winning by a Hair - The Cardinals went into New York and got the narrow victory over the Jets 24-23.

Now What Happens - Neither the Titans or the Texans could find a way to get the game-winning points today. The game ends with a tied score of 24-24.

Anything But Road Weary - The Lions failed to get a win at home versus the visiting Colts, going down 43-24.

Dolphine Undone At Home - The Dolphins fall to the visiting Patriots 20-7.

                See Who's Tweetin'
@AdamSchefterEA - Dolphins couln't stop a nosebleed today, and no way they were stoping the Patriots from winning.
@LArringtonEA - The Patriots defense had all the answers agains an under-perfoming Dolphins O-line, tally 4 sacks.
@MarkSchlerethEA - Coaches love a guy like Ray Rice who can go out and get you consistent yardage on the ground.
@SkipBaylessEA - Hate how playings go for the ball rather than make a tackle, but the Chiefs at least force turnovers.
@WingozEA - 1,000 yards for Jamaal Charles, and would you really be surprised if he just keeps on trucking?
@SkipBaylessEA - You just get a sense that the offensive chemistry is better with Dwayne Bowe on the field.
@WingozEA - Good season continues for Steve Smith as he eclipsed 1,000 yards receiving this week.
@WingozEA - Never discount the value of winning a game on the road. Never discount the pain of losing at home.
@mortreportEA - Only 17 ties in NFL history before 2009. Add this one to the list.
@mortreportEA - A solid, hotly contested win for the Cardinals against the Jets.
@WingozEA - Is there really any doubt Tony Gonzalez is going to keep moving towards historical receiving yard numbers?
@MarkSchlerethEA - If your QB puts you in a place to succeed, you got to reward him like Vincent Jackson did.
@mortreportEA - #Lions have determined Kevin Smith doesn't have what it takes to start, per sources.
@MarkSchlereth - Michael Boley was clearly eating plenty of my hot chile this week. #NFCPoW
@RoFloEA - Did not expect to be saying 'Terrence McGee' this many times on air this week. #AFCPoW
@Donny_Moore - Two things are certain this wk...1) Andrew Luck is not playing like a rook 2) Somebody getting some Madden Ratings love in the next roster update...
@RossTuckerEA - Michael Turner is a premium player, and he's paid to win awards like this. #NFCPoW
@MikeHillEA - It shouldn't come as a shock to hear that Andrew Luck is the AFC player of the week.

                    Question to the fans/viewers...

I will be playing my game hopefully tomorrow morning against the Houston Texans @ Gillette Stadium. How should my running game go? Mostly Ridley? Split between Ridley and Bolden? Or let Bolden have a chance?

                    Let me know your thoughts...

Bolden seems to be less Hot/Cold for you. I would kinda venture a guess Bolden/Woodhead 75/25 split. Woodhead last couple has decent yds/car but is only your 3rd down back right? So he only gets a couple carries a game.

                        Wes Welker Returns from Injury
                        ...and other news...

Foxboro, MA - Well it seems that we'll see Wes Welker back in the lineup against the Houston Texans. We should not see any setbacks as Wes is one of the toughest guys on the field. When he says he's ready, he's ready. In order to make room for the return of Welker, the Patriots had to release Greg Salas. Greg made a few catches in Welker's absense, but was the low man on the depth chart with the addition of Amendola.

In other news, with the inability to provide big plays by Stevan Ridley, we are going to see Brandon Bolden make the start today. Depending on how Bolden does, you may still see some carries or maybe a few drives that feature Ridley as the back. We may even see more of Danny Woodhead as well instead of on third downs.

Coach Gerard has a plan and will be sticking to that plan. The Patriots are in a 6-6 mess with thousands of other teams. They need to create some distance if they want to make the playoffs. See you on Monday Night Football at Gillette Stadium...

Playoffs look dim for New England
                            Mediocre plays yields another loss
                            PATRIOTS 20 - Texans 23

Foxboro, MA - The excitement of this game lasted all of 10 seconds, and that was on the opening kickoff. Gostkowski kicks it down to Justin Forsett and he blows by all the Patriots for a return touchdown. That is how this game started.

Patriots had a great ground attack but Mallett couldn't find the endzone other than one to Lloyd which was because the defense couldn't adjust to the play call. The play was supposed to be a run, but the safeties started to creep in and Mallett signals to Lloyd on his right side. Boom! Touchdown. Other than those two plays it was just ground and pound.

Both teams combined for over 300 yards on the ground with Ridley hiding shy of 100 himself. Brandon Bolden started this game and he played all the way into late second quarter. After that fumble, he took a seat and let Ridley reclaim his throne. It wasn't until Ridley opened up the field that Bolden, on the few plays he got, picked up some decent yards.

Mallett, Mallett, Ryan Mallett. Are you ever going to develop and stop throwing picks. This is the 4th game in a row that he's thrown an interception, and out of those 4 games he's thrown a total of 9 of them. Draft is coming shortly and your coach may decide to go another route if he has an opportunity at a good quarterback. You need to win the rest of the games or your season, and possibly career, will come to a screeching halt. You would need both the Jets and Bills to lose to still remain in the hunt.

Next game is against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday Night Football. You choked on Monday night, let's not see you choke come next Sunday. Hopefully you will still have a chance at a playoff spot, but even if you do, I expect it to be a short lived excitement.

                              2012 - Week #14

LeSean McCoy Back for Upcoming Games - LeSean McCoy is looking forward to being back on the field after nursing an injury.

Dominant Pass Rush - The Browns' defense demolished Matt Cassel, racking up 10 sacks to beat the Chiefs.

More Interesting By the Week - As Drew Brees pushes past other all-time greats, the question becomes where will he be ranked among them.

A Number One Option - Double teaming andy Moss continues to be mandatory, not optional. He's now on the heels of Jerry Rice on the all-time receptions list.

Injury Sidelines Matt Ryan - The injury to Matt Ryan will sideline him for the next couple of weeks. The Falcons will have to continue forward without him.

Stealing One Away - The Texans secured a 23-20 road victory this week as they handled their business against the Patriots.

Stalemate - The Titans and Colts were so evenly matched that not even five quarters was enough time to settle things.

@LArringtonEA - Can we just do away with ties altogether? PLEASE?
@RoFloEA - Spoke with Chris Johnson, and he feels 1,00 yards is the bare minimum he should get each year.
@SkipBaylessEA - Jason Garrett HAS to know he'll be in trouble if he doesn't turn this around for the Cowboys. #hotseat
@MattMillerEA - Never know if teams will be patient with coaches or not in the midst of bad years. #hotseat #Lions
@mortreportEA - Things look bad for the Browns, which means things could look bad for Pat Shurmur at the end of the year.
@MarkSchlerethEA - Stevie Johnson has been on the same page all year long with his quarterback. #keepthrowing
@RoFloEA - Fantasy owners, be sure to say thanks to Robert Griffin III -- or curse his name if you had to go H2H against him.
@RossTuckerEA - 1,00-yd rushers aren't what they used to be, but it's not like you don't want Ahmad Bradshaw on your team.
@RossTuckerEA - Folks want to talk about how K. Whisenhunt has done this year, but there's still games to play. #hotseat
@MarkSchlerethEA - It's not a coincidence the Cardinals have done this on the ground. Great blocking, great talent.
@WingozEA - The Cardinals have had a ridiculous year on the ground, racking up 2,000 yards of rushing offense.
@RossTuckerEA - Been fun watching a perfectly balanced running system in Arizona this year.
@SkipBaylessEA - Nothing better than seeing a rushing attack that just dominates the game. Passing isn't the only option!
@MarkSchlerethEA - Coaches love a guy like Frank Gore who can go out and get you consistent yardage on the ground.
@mortreportEA - Great game in New England where the Texans held out against the Patriots.
@MarkSchlerethEA - Looked even more serious when it happened, so good to hear Matt Ryan will only miss a little time.
@ScottWrightEA - Randy Moss was always such a projectable athlete, that's what GMs loved about him before he was drafted.
@MikeHillEA - He was expected to be a star from day one, and that's what's most impressive about Brees still. #recordwatch
@mortreportEA - Eagles are more than a little thrilled to get LeSean McCoy back.
@LArringtonEA - Browns win on the strength of 10 sacks. Brilliant scheming from their defensive coordinator.
@MarkSchlereth - Jairus Byrd was clearly eating plenty of my hote chile this week. #AFCPoW
@AdamSchefterEA - It's been a good week for Jabari Greer that will be topped off with #NFCPoW honors.
@LArringtonEA - Nothing new for Joe Flacco to get some publicity. #AFCPoW
@AdamSchefterEA - An impressive week ends with a fitting reward for Adrian Peterson. #NFCPoW
