Re: No More Brady - A Ryan Mallett Patriots Story (Madden 13)

Last Minute move by Coach Gerard
        Stephens-Howling is now a Patriot

Foxboro, MA - Late in the week before going up against the Jets on that Sunday, Coach Gerard dug deep into the Free Agent Pool. Sitting nice and pretty near the top of the names was HB LaRod Stephens-Howling. The coach was already at the 53 man cap on his team so he had to make a decision.

In a desperate move to find room for the talented HB, Gerard sent LE Jake Bequette to the practice squad. With the recent acquisition of Shawne Merriman, he felt like he was too heavy in Defensive Ends. As we don't expect LaRod to take many snaps, if any, we may see his skills as a kick returner. With the fumble last week by Julian Edelman, I know the coach is not happy with his performance. Does Coach Gerard have the audacity to remove Julian from his special teams? We will soon tell...

          Down and Out in Overtime
          Welker/Hernandez and 3rd straight game...LOST
          PATRIOTS 31 - Jets 34 (OT)

Foxboro, MA - The season is starting to take a turn for the worst. Not only does the Patriots lose their 3rd straight game and have a losing record on the season, but they lose 2 more key players. Welker went down clutching his foot during the first pass of the game, and Hernandez had to be helped off the field after catching his touchdown to tie up the game.

Add these injuries to the already full injury list including top prospect HB Stevan Ridley and All-Pro linebacker Jerod Mayo. Now you ask me if anything good came out of the game? Well Brandon Bolden was able to tear up 100+ yards on the ground and Ryan Mallett became a gun slinger and put up 400+ in the air. Mallett's good stats come with his bad, while he did throw 3 TDs, he threw 2 extra ones....TO THE OPPOSITE TEAM. That's right, 2 pick sixes were thrown, and the Patriots were in great field positions when the Jets took them to the house.

The Patriots actually had a chance to win this game in the 4th quarter. Patriots had the ball on the Jets 42 yards line with 21 seconds to go in the game. Gostkowski's longest this year was 54 yards and we were looking at a 59 yarder here. The win was directly in his face too. The thought crossed Coach Gerard's mind to just do it, but a late second decision said to go for it on 4th down. Play call was perfect and Mallett hit Gronkowski down the middle of the field to get to the 14 yard line, but the Patriots being without a timeout left couldn't get to the line to spike the ball in time to set up for the game winning field goal...off to overtime we go.

Jet's received the kick and quickly went 4 and out, gave the ball back to the Patriots. Patriots couldn't move it as well and had to put the ball back. Jet's then moved methodically down the field and the Patriots had them at a 3rd and long on the 40 yard line. If stopped, the Jets would have a long field goal for the win, but they called a draw play to Isaac Redman and he ran the ball for the first down...game over.

Another notable play was Matthew Slater's kickoff return for a TD late in the 4th quarter that got called back because of a holding on Visanthe Shiancoe. That was a buzz killer and gave the Jets more fuel. The Jets did not earn this win, the Patriots gave it to them with all the mistakes. I do not know how the Patriots are expecting to recover from this.

Patriots have one more game before their bye week. They're going across the pond to play in England against the St. Louis Rams. Get your warm beers and ugly women ready for this battle in foreign soil. Peace out...

Foxboro, MA - Looking at the injury report above makes me sick to my stomach. Four key players needed to make it to the playoffs are not available. Due to our WR depth being an issue, the Patriots had to place replacement MLB Lofa Tatupu on Injured Reserved. His season is over as he was only in there to replace the missing Mayo.

In return for placing Lofa on IR, the Patriots once again hit the free agent market. Sitting there waiting to be signed was speedy Danny Amendola. What a perfect player to stand in for the injured Wes Welker! Mr. Amendola is 4 years pro out of Texas Tech. He's listed as 5'11" and 188lbs. and believe it or not is bigger than Wes Welker himself. Danny has played his entire professional career in St. Louis and what better than to pick him up to play against his former team in next week's matchup.

Danny will be the slot receiver along with Brandon Lloyd and Julien Edelman on the outside. Ever elusive Danny Woodhead would actually be your 4th WR and will be switched in and out with another former Ram, Greg Salas. Salas was a rookie last year with St. Louis and the Patriots picked him up before the season started. Let's hope for at least the next 3 weeks we can mend up these gaping holes and put a good team on the field.

Don't expect many two TE passing sets without Hernandez. Visanthe Shiancoe will be the 2nd Tight End and will most likely try to run with him on the field. Shiancoe has had 1 catch this year, but I don't expect him to pick up many more balls before the season is out. Looks like the gameplan going forward will be power runs and short passes. The Patriots look to wear down the opposing team and hopefully control the clock.

              2012 - Week #7

The Worst Kind of News - Due to a severe injury, Dwight Freeney will not be able to continue his season. Doctors are hoping he'll return by next season.

Wishing for a Speedy Recovery - Tom Brady leaves a huge hole in the Browns' offense, which they'll have to try and fill during the next couple games.

On the Money - Mark Sanchez stepped up this week to lead the Jets to a 34-31 victory over the Patriots.

Target Acquired - If there's one constant in the NFL, it's the Drew Brees is going to continue to throw touchdown passes. He's 6th all-time now on that list.

Rivals Settle It in OT - The Jets really showed some great resolve against the rival Patriots in their latest showdown. They won in overtime 34-31.

              See Who's Tweetin'
@MarkSchlerethEA - With rivalry games it doesn't matter how either team is playing heading into it, anything can happen. #Jets
@WingozEA - A win for the Bears this week is also number 75 for L. Smith.
@RossTuckerEA - Nice moment for Jay Cutler this week, he eclipsed 20,000 passing yards.
@MarkSchlerethEA - Never take for granted what Drew Brees is doing right now. #recordwatch #touchdownterror
@WingozEA - Love Mark Sanchez's humility: did enough to turn heads. But he didn't show off by throwing for 400. #Jets
@AdamSchefterEA - The Browns now have to hope Tom Brady will be healthy enough to play in a couple weeks.
@MarkSchlerethEA - As soon as I saw the play, I knew it was bad for Dwight Freeney.
@mortreportEA - Per Sources, ROLB Dwight Freeney is lost for the rest of the year. #IR
@RossTuckerEA - Always like when guys like Sam Bradford who maybe aren't 'stars' by some standards put up a big week. #NFCPoW
@SkipBaylessEA - Easy to see that Stephen Tulloch is always one of the top three players out on the football field. #NFCPoW
@WingozEA - Of course Jake Locker was given AFC offensive player of the week, you see his numbers?
@MarkSchlerethEA - Kyle Wilson was clearly eating plenty of my hot chile this week. #AFCPoW

                Brady Watch 2012

As we all saw from Week 7 that Mr. Tom Brady, now of the Cleveland Browns, has gone down with a Pulled Groin and will most likely miss a couple games. Let's take a look at his stats so far this year while playing for the 1-6 Cleveland Browns:

                Tom Brady Stats - 2012
                PassingC/ATTYDSAVGYDS/GLONGTDINTRAT
                Tom Brady116/22412105.4172.9689571.8

I bet he misses being in a Patriots uniform now. It proves a point that the New England Patriots don't need Tom Brady to win a game, and that Tom is just the product of having a good team around him. In Cleveland he has nobody to pass to and has a rookie running back. He may be happy being hurt so he no longer needs to be embarassed by his stats and team record.

Might be a few before you see another game. With the patch out, I gotta perfect the sliders again so my results seem realistic. I'll post next game after that's done.

Wow. I was convinced that Cleveland would actually have a good year with Brady leading the charge. I know it's just a game, but it's amazing that not even Tom Brady can change the course of the franchise...

I apologize. Along with needing to figure out new sliders, I have the flu. The headache is not allowing me to play Madden because it needs to much of my brain. Don't give up on me. Once I kick this flu, I'll be back to try to turn this team around.

The new patch completely turned the CPU running game into unstoppable demons on All-Madden, i guess people were complaining that it was too easy. So i've had to rework my sliders aswell. get well soon man.

I was just curious what sliders youre playing on. When I play on All-Pro I dominate the CPU with either a shutout or a dismal performance on their part. When I put it on All-Madden I feel like Im playing in a parallel universe where nothing goes right.

                            Great read.

I assume there's a way that you are posting all of this information (e.q. box scores, stats) from the game. How do you do it?

Before the newest patch I was using a custom set I liked. Once these headaches disappear I will be able to find a new slider set that works for me.
