    Palmer's Season Done

Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer's first season with the team is done after one game. An MRI revealed that Palmer suffered a fractured elbow during the Cardinals 37-10 loss to the Rams on Sunday. The injury occurred when Palmer was sacked by Chris Long in the 2nd quarter.

Palmer went 5-8 for 72 yards and 1 interception. Drew Stanton is expected to get the start on Sunday against the Detroit Lions.

          LIONS PULL OUT CLOSE WIN
CARDS OFFENSE DOESN'T SHOW UP IN LOSS

Thompkins makes an impressive one hand catch / The Lions picked off Stanton twice

The Arizona Cardinals swindled away a 10 point 4th quarter against the Detroit Lions loosing 17-13 and falling to 0-2 on the season.

The Cardinals were in control most of the first half thanks to the play of their defense. A Jay Feely 21 yard field goal and a touchdown run from Rashard Mendenhall put the Cards up 10-3. The defense also played well in the 3rd but they got no help from Drew Stanton and the offense. Stanton completed 10-27 passes for only 124 yards and two interceptions. The Cardinals didn't get much from the running game either with Ryan Williams finishing with 51 yards on 21 carries.

The Lions offense picked up steam in the 4th as Matthew Stafford aired it out over the Cards secondary. After only having 31 yards passing in the first 3 quarters, Stafford threw for 200 yards in the 4th quarter alone. Backup Joique Bell scored both of the Lions touchdowns. The last one ended up being the game winner as he ran it in with only 20 seconds left in the game.

The Cardinals will now head to New Orleans to take on Drew Brees and the 2-0 New Orleans Saints.

                SAINTS MARCH OVER CARDINALS 46-17
BREES TOSSES 4 TOUCHDOWNS IN WIN

Dansby int was the highlight of the Cards defense / Stanton had another rough outing throwing 4 more int's

The Saints are 3-0 following their commanding defeat of the Cardinals in Week 3. The Saints' offense, and new defense, were on display on Sunday as they controlled the line of scrimmage and the scoreboard. The 46-17 victory included 399 passing yards, four passing touchdowns, two rushing scores and just one interception from Saints' quarterback Drew Brees.

Even thought they lost, the Cards may have found a gem. UDFA Kenbrell Thompkins caught 5 balls for 151 yards and 2 toucdowns. Ryan Williams also continued his impressive start to the season picking up 104 yards rushing with a 4.5 average. And that's where the good things ended for the Cardinals. Drew Stanton had another horrible outing throwing 4 interceptions. He was replaced late in the 4th by Ryan Lindley who went 7-9 for 50 yards and an interception.

On the defensive side of the ball the Cards really didn't do much after picking off Brees early in the 1st quarter. After the turnover Brees proceeded to light the Cardinals defense. Darren Sproles, who was a surprise start, rushed for 2 touchdowns and also caught a td from Bress.

The Cardinals will take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers next week. Both teams are 0-3 so far and still looking for their first win.

                      WEEK FOUR RESULTS

                      ....

                      ARIZONA CARDINALS (0-4)
                      VS.
                      TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS (1-3)

CARDINALS FALL TO 0-4 WITH 33-19 LOSS TO BUCS
                      TURNOVERS CONTINUE TO PLAGUE ARIZONA

Tampa Bay force 8 turnovers / Lindley draws a roughing the passer

Speculation grew that Bucs coach Greg Schiano would bench started Josh Freeman if he didn't play well against the Cardinals. Looks like Freeman's job will be safe for another week as he and the Buccaneers defeated the Cardinals 33-19 on Sunday. Freeman finished 15-29 for 168 yards and 1 touchdown with no turnovers.

The Bucs prevented the Cards from getting into the end zone on multiple attempts during the first three quarters. The Cardinals were held to to 6 points through the first 3 quarters. Starter Drew Stanton was replaced by Ryan Lindley after throwing 3 picks in the first half. Lindley also threw 4 picks himself along with 237 yards and a touchdown pass to Kenbrell Thompkins.

The Cardinals out gained the Bucs 484-293 in total offense yards, but the Bucs had great filed position almost throughout the game because of all the Cardinals turnovers. 2nd year back Doug Martin 121 yards and 1 touchdown on 23 carries.

The Cardinals head back home to take on Cam Newton and the 2-1 Carolina Panthers.
