Re: Run Like Hell - The Legend of Dillon Powers

Dillon found himself unable to sleep for the majority of the night. The visits were done. Reggie would reveal the offers to him in the morning. Dillon had requested that he keep them under wraps until they had done all the visits, that way he didn't fall in love or rule anyone out too soon. There were things he liked about each of the four teams they had visited with, and things he wasn't sure about with each as well. It was certainly not a decision to be taken lightly. He picked up his iPhone and scrolled through Twitter, nothing grabbing his attention. He checked the time again, 4:37. Still too early to wake up Reggie. He got up, went to the mini bar and pourred a drink. He downed it and laid back down on the bed. He picked up his phone again and scrolled through the screens, he tapped on his photos and began scrolling through. Eventually he came across pictures of him and Elisha. He selected all of them and clicked delete.
"Are you sure you want to delete these photos?" He asked himself, reading the screen. He hesitated before tapping cancel.
    "Maybe next week." He thought.
    Eventually he dozed off.

Dillon woke up as the sun crept into the room. He rolled over and looked at the clock, realizing he had overslept he jumped up and looked for Reggie.

"Hey man, sleep alright?" Reggie asked as he csme back in the room.
"Not really, maybe a few hours."
"Yeah I heard you tossing and turning. Lots to think about."
"No kidding. Been running scenarios through my head all damn night."
"Well I've got the numbers when you're ready."
"We got time for breakfast, talk through it there"?
"Yeah, we got time." Reggie answered as he checked the time on his phone.

"I'll have the veggie omelet with wheat toast please." Reggie shook his head as Dillon placed his order.
"Let me get the eggs benedict please." Reggie rubbed his hands together, excited about his order.
"Alright, let's hear 'em." Dillon said with a sigh.
"Here we go. First off they are all four year deals. Oakland is 14.1, Denver is 14.1, Detroit is at 13.2 and Pittsburgh is 9.8."
Dillon exhaled in defeat as Reggie revealed Pittsburgh's offer. If he had been leaning in any direction it was Pittsburgh. All that history and the thought of playing for Coach Tomlin had him excited.
"Did you hear me man?" Reggie asked, raising his voice and snapping his fingers.
    "No, sorry."
"I said, 'What do you think?'"
"I was leaning towards the Steelers but..."
"That's a rough offer, almost insulting."
    "Yeah." Dillon agreed.
    "So Denver? Detroit?"
"Honestly? I don't know if I'm really in love with either of them."
"You can't go to Pittsburgh for that cheap."
Dillon let out a sigh and picked at his omelet.

Re: Run Like Hell - The Legend of Dillon Powers

After yet another sleepless night Dillon had decided he needed to take action. When it was happening out on the road he chalked it up to a little bit of excitement and nerves, he figured once he had made up his mind it would pass. Now, after sleeping, or rather not sleeping, in his own bed for a week he knew there was more to it.

"Hey Reggie, you got a minute?"
"I got all the minutes in the world D, what's up?"
"I'm not sure about Detroit." He blurted out, getting right to the point.
"Honestly, I questioned it when you told me that was your choice." Reggie said, stroking the stubble on his chin.
          "You did?"
          "Yeah, you didn't seem convinced."
          "Why didn't you say anything?"
"It's your call man, didn't want to overstep."
"I need you to man. I look to you for advice man."
          "Alright, I got you then."
          "What can we do?"
"Well we haven't signed anything in Detroit yet."
"I feel like I need to visit a few more teams, like I ruled teams out just to rule them out."
"I'll get on the horn, we'll make it happen."
          "Thanks man, appreciate it."
          "That's what I'm here for D. I got you."

Re: Run Like Hell - The Legend of Dillon Powers

"So what did you think?" Reggie asked Dillon as they got back in the limo. The visits were done, now it was all up to Dillon to make his deciscion.
"This feels like the one." He replied, finally getting the feeling of certainty he had been hoping for.
"We should have our offer this afternoon."
"Unless it's terrible I want to be here."
"It won't be terrible. They want you and as far as they know you want to be in Detroit. Everyone knows Detroit's offer so they're under the impression they need to beat it."
Dillon shook his head and smiled as he looked out the window at the city that he would soon be calling home. He let his imagination take over and he pictured himself living here as an old man.
"Dillon!" Reggie shouted, snapping his fingers.
Dillon snapped out of his daze and looked at Reggie.
"You got ADD or some ****?"
"Nah man just thinking, day dreaming."
"Well cut that **** out." Reggie said with a smile.
            "What's up?"
"I said you need to pick a new number."
