Re: The Career of J.D. Clark (NCAA 14)

I'm good with the new recap style, whatever makes it fun and not too much work for you. Coach Clark definitely has the Vandals playing well. It seems like as long as you don't give up the big plays or turn the ball over in bad spots, you can eventually force the computer to make a mistake... classic bend-but-don't-break. And the offense has different guys stepping up each week, lots of different contributors.

Big game against UCLA coming up, looking forward to seeing what happens, then a three-game homestand that should decide whether or not you get back to the MWC title game.

Maybe I'm just not catching something obvious, but I don't get the Sarah Pellier references as much as everyone else I guess.

The coaching ranks...heck the entire world...needs more of that these days.
Thanks a lot bro. I hesitate to just make too much stuff up, (like about the players) because I don't know, I don't want this to become one of those storyline dynasties as I just don't read or get interested in those. I'll open one up, and it talks about somebody trudging down a long dirt road and I'm like hearing this alarm in my head "evacuate... evacuate...evacuate!" - No one style is better than the other, it's just preferences. However, coming up with a minor back story or something like that for a player might happen once in awhile. The one you're referencing at the top of the page was actually related to a question I asked my dad the other day, looking for more Coach Clark storylines. I asked for a story about JD and that's what came to his mind. He ran an insurance place. People would get pissed about this or that and come in and say they wanted to cancel and he would politely say "o.k., if that's what you want to do" and start looking for the forms and he says most of the time they'd end up begging him to keep them on. I guess he kissed no ***, but still brought in well over 250 a year back when that was a lot..

I definitely didn't want to do too much of it with real players. I agree wholeheartedly about needing more of the blue collar thing. I feel like football coaches are one place you can see it still.

"Sarah Pellier" - LMAO...Man you are a fool haha

Fioleto and Watson are doing damage this season. Did Watson get hurt in that last game? He seemed to be your unquestioned go-to guy going in and he struggled.
As well are you sir, as well are you. For me my first one was around '97 or so, it was Madden and we did basically one post per season. Thinking Man's Guide to Madden was the website. Were you on there? My memory sucks.

      Yes I am...

During the game in question... We ran the ball a lot, and it just happened naturally that when making reads on the few throws we had, it mostly went to the other side of the field. He didn't drop any passes but there were two overthrows that he had no shot at.

Thank you Matt... I do like the new style, I like being able to glance over and see the box score alongside the story; I might eventually add like a 5-line thing for stats for the other team and just do it free type. Or maybe not. I appreciate the feedback.

I'm hoping UCLA reaches into our chest and shows us our still-beating heart, otherwise it's back to the drawing board on sliders.

It was just a dumb thing I did in this story.

I saw the story and thought it was clever, just wasn't sure if I was missing a pop culture joke or pun about her name or something too. Thanks for clarifying.

I hear you about sometimes having to hope the CPU opponent actually shows up and performs well... simness/realism verified via losing to bigger schools, especially when your other marquee non-con opponent in TCU has gone in the tank.

Love the little notes on the top 25 and conference teams too Helli, great addition.

As a Virginia Tech man, seeing UVA football on the rise hurts my soul a little bit but still love to see the insight on what is happening around the nation.

UCLA looks very very good on paper and could be a very stiff matchup for you on paper. I am not seeing a lot of (...well any if we are being honest) holes for them. I would love to see you keep it close though. Good luck man!

Man, between you and B-Dawg, it's like old home week up in here. I'm not sure if you remember me from MM, I never really posted much, but I tried my hand at a dynasty or two back in the day, and I have to say, this effort from you is just...awe-inspiring. Inspirational might be too strong a word, but you've definitely got me thinking about throwing my hat back into the ring, even if I could never pull off the graphic work you've done.

Suffice to say, you've got a fan, I'll be following, and I hope you've got a lot more left in you.

Thank you sir. The game has been played. Unfortunately, Fallout 3 happened in the meantime (great game for this late adopter!), it has been finished.... but I expect to be back to posting game reports toward the end of this week. I have an intersession class starting today that will take up my time during the week but might be able to get to putting up this report on Friday or something.

Sheeeeyiii... of course I remember you man. Thank you for the kind words, I'm enjoying it and enjoying this group of people who are posting the reports that I'm reading and I do recommend hanging around and posting up a dynasty. Thanks for checking in bro.

What a game! I know you fell short but still what a game. Filoteo single handedly put the team on his back and almost led you to a historic upset. The defense just isn't there yet to control a team with as much firepower as UCLA but it will get there. Glad to see you back at reporting!

Great game... the Bully almost carried you to victory. 5-1 is still a great start and the team is certainly improving. Stopping the pass consistently is probably the last step in a rebuilding project in the game, since the CPU doesn't usually run enough, so you're close... real close.

Thank you Cheese! And nice to see you as a moderator, I'm not familiar with the politics at OS these days but they couldn't have picked somebody more level-headed to keep tabs on things, that's great. Yeah, it was a weird game last week and an exciting finish. We need to get John Fenner back possibly next week and that will really help the defense.

Yeah it can be real tough, I'm trying to increase the difficulty against the run and have that offset somewhat, don't want the CPU to become too one-dimensional, but yeah there's only so much you can do when they run it right into their own player or something. Hope to check in on some dynasties soon, I just got done with an intersession class and it killed me. This semester I only have one class per week that will be a nice break. Will be working a lot but glad to have some time to do more Dynasty.
