Marshall has an easy conference schedule every year. They really need to move to a better conference, or maybe move some better teams into C-USA. I'm not saying you should in your dynasty, jus in general

Huskies land #25 recruit Rourke, finish with 68th best class

UConn's getting good at this. For the second year in a row, UConn walks out of National Signing Day with the 68th best class in the nation.

But unlike last year, a lot of UConn's class came together at the end of the signing period on February 1.

The obvious headliner in the newest group of Huskies is 5* DE Sam Rourke, graded by SPARQ as the 25th best prospect in the country and the 20th by ESPN.

Rourke, according to coach Bob Diaco, is in line to potentially start alongside Cameron Stapleton on the line this fall, pushing aside seniors Cole Ormsby and last year's starter Quintin Harrell.

Joining Rourke is UConn's next best prospect, 3* DT Johnquez Blair of Simpsonville, CA. A fringe 4 star prospect, Blair will not likely push T.J. Newell or Gene Jackson for playing time this year, but Blair will get a long look down the line and could be a star in the not-so-distant future.

David Hamilton we already knew was on his way to Storrs around November of 2016, and he is the prohibitive favorite to be Bryant Shirreffs' successor at QB. A tall, bulky QB with a good arm and speed, Hamilton is a winner and is ready to succeed at the college level. Diaco is excited to see Hamilton in action.

Local prospect Ryne Thomas, who lives only 90 minutes from the Storrs campus, could make an immediate impact at tight end, as could athlete Ross Sinclair, who will almost certainly add depth to a very young safety group and push for a starting gig immediately.

LB's Tom Willis and John Cox add long-term depth, as does mammoth guard Vince Jones and QB Isaac Jackson.

Tyler McCray is likely to fill both the kicking and punting duties that are available for this season.

Overall, Diaco likes what he sees this year.

I was actually thinking about moving Marshall and North Texas to the AAC for this season while they were still stacked (they'll drop off a ton next year. Not only is Olsen gone for Marshall, but they lose starters everywhere and the backups aren't that good. North Texas lost their starting QB who was an O'Brien finalist last year, and besides Ivery, they have no one anymore).

However, that didn't quite happen and I'm actually kicking myself for leaving the AAC be. But that doesn't mean there's nothing in line for the future.

Damn. Michigan literally stole a recruit from OSU's backyard. Grove City is a suburb of Columbus.

That 14-team AAC you proposed probably would've looked good. Maybe even better if you add UMass as 15 (get that rivalry going). Don't know who you'd add at 16 though. Army? Southern Miss? UAB?

With Marshall and NT in at 14, I'd have gone Army at 15 and plucked someone out of the C-USA like FIU (had some success over the past 3 seasons, not all that crazy) as a possible 16, provided everyone in the current AAC stays put. UMass is getting torched as an Indy, can't imagine what they'd do in the AAC.

Spring Practice Report: Harrell to OLB, Hashemi to C

With the signing of prized freshman Sam Rourke, UConn had a problem teams would love to have. They had 4 defensive ends all capable of starting at most colleges. Unfortunately, it was JUCO sensation Quintin Harrell who was likely to be the odd man out in 2017. Coach Diaco prevented a further controversy by announcing he was moving Harrell to left outside linebacker, a spot open with the graduation of Jon Hicks.

However, Harrell is not guaranteed to start there either. Senior Luke Carrezola is also vying to fill either that spot or Omaine Stephens' right outside 'backer spot, with Vontae Diggs also in the mix.

We'll keep you posted on that battle, but the other notable change was TE Steve Hashemi to center. The junior was likely going to be squeezed out of the rotation with Tommy Myers and Alec Bloom as the top two, with incoming freshman Ryne Thomas the next man up. Hashemi will battle with a slew of underclassmen for Kyle Bockeloh's center spot.

Quintin needs to play well to keep his starting job. I've got him playing 'backer and end this spring, so we'll see what he can do.

Eh, I wouldn't move TUlane yet. They improved over the 0-12 debacle from 2015.

You, like me, are excited that the little guys are doing something. ULL had a great 2014, but faded since then. Maybe Wilson can get them to the top!

Definitely. Didn't need him much with 3 senior DE's this year, but Ormsby and Rourke are looking likely to platoon with Harrell at linebacker.

Ayyyy Central Michigan and coach Crenshaw weren't far behind for Reid. That could've been very exciting for my offense had he decided to come be a Chip

I assume you're talking about Darrell Reid. In that case, .

Yeah he is. Took me a second to get that also, haha.

Urbano will miss "coach" James. He's not only got Michigan breathing down his neck, he's got this Crenshaw fella at CMU too....

Wow, this is wild. You guys are freaking out about a fake recruit in guru's game. This is what OS is all about, but it also shows how much you guys miss football. I'm not at that point yet. I'm still loving baseball, even though I haven't played at all yet.
