Yeah the triple option has been killing us and a few of our games has had agile quarterbacks that utilize read option or just regular option and that's been killing the defense as well. Luckily the talent level dies down as MAC play starts and hopefully we can turn it into a bowl birth this season potentially. Still a long way to go for that though!

Re: The Legacy of Tyler Kozlov
Akron Zips (0-4) 20 @ Bowling Green Falcons (3-1) 38
3 14 3 0 20
0 7 14 17 38
Falcons score 31 unanswered to devastate the Zips
Midway through the third quarter, the Akron Zips appeared in control, a comfortable 20-7 lead that was held up by a huge outing by the defensive unit, but it seemed that the Falcons were just slowly chipping away at the Zips until the defense came crumbling down. Down they crumbled, surrendering 31 unanswered points, while the offense sputtered out three turnovers in the final frame to fall to the MAC East lading Falcons.
The Zips appeared in control throughout the early going, an early field goal ended the first quarter in a 3-0 lead for Akron, which would only grow when a beautiful drive ended in a curl route hit to Zach D'Orazio for a 13 yard touchdown pass, 10-0 and the home crowd got pretty quiet, at least until a quick Falcon drive led to 7 when Gehrig Dieter got separation from his defender and went 38 yards for the score on a fade route. The momentum would swing just as quickly yet again as the Zips punched the ball downfield before Jones would punch it in from two yards out just short of the half time whistle to make it a 17-7 lead in favor of the Zips who seemingly could cruise to the victory.
This game would definitely prove to be a tale of two halves however.
The Zips defense kept the Falcons offense on lock through the most of the quarter, but it all fell apart in the end, shortly after a Tom O'Leary Field goal made it a 20-7 lead, the Falcons started marching downfield quickly and Jason Knapke utilized a read option play to score on a keeper, 20-14. A Kyle Pohl fumble later and the Falcons were back in business, the final play of the quarter was a touchdown rush by Bowling Green to put them ahead 20-21, and they wouldn't ever look back.
The Zips offense couldn't muster much of anything from that point on, posting turnover after turnover as the game slipped away slowly, in the final three minutes, Bowling Green scored 14 unanswered off turnovers. A field goal at the final few seconds saw the Falcons improve their season record with an impressive margin of victory. 38-20.
The Akron Zips had their first victory in their sights but it just didn't work, a disappointing loss for a team that has to feel hungry after this. To be so close but just fade away when it matters most has to be absolutely devastating.

Very interesting dynasty so far! It definitely seems like you're starting from the bottom and trying to make nothing into something which would be really impressive! The future looks bright though with LeBron's financial contribution to the school and the hype of the football program and coach himself! Maybe that will be enough to spice up recruiting so that the available talent on Akron's roster will continue to grow each season!
Great work so far! I'm looking forward to updates!Comment

This has been a great read so far! I would've hated to be in your shoes playing that BG game; a definite heart breaker. Hopefully the Zips recover for the next game.
You mention a few posts back that your still trying to get used to the sliders you're using. Have you made any adjustments or is it still to early into the season you think?Run that rock and run it to daylight!Comment

I make some adjustments but I try not to do anything crazy, the main thing I'm struggling with at the moment is finding a happy medium for the CPU offense (run is almost OP, passing isn't very common) but I've settled on a set that I've enjoyed myself.
I'm doing Heisman O/ AA D, if I settle on sliders I like, than I'll update the original post with them, but they are going to be fairly fluid early on. I usually use other sets as a baseline and than adjust from there for my own stick skills (or lack of), I just remember having a similar set before I sold my PS3 about a year ago, so I cannot remember what I used as my base.
I'm working on rebuilding my excel spreadsheet and making a few adjustments to apply the spreadsheet to game updates as well to give everyone some more insight to stats from each game. Nothing huge, but hopefully a little bit better from an organizational standpoint.Bulls|Bears|Cubs| Blackhawks|Huskies|Horned Frogs|

That's another fun thing about dynasties! There is always room to improve and you get better as you go! I can't wait to see how this dynasty evolves over time!

Re: The Legacy of Tyler Kozlov
Week Five is in the books and what a week it was, with two of the top three teams facing upsets would they both survive? The Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Alabama Crimson Tide were both locked into struggles, yet only one remained with an unscathed win-loss record and it isn't who you'd expect.
Starting out in Indiana, the Fighting Irish welcomed the revitalized "Boomer Sooners" to their home field in what would ultimately be a rally for the ages. By half time, reporters were calling the game a bore and ultimately another historic collapse for the Fighting Irish who have a history of generally being better on paper than in practice. It didn't seem that they wanted to share that moniker with previous teams. Despite a deficit of 24-0 at the half to the Oklahoma Sooners, the Irish fought back with three Everett Golson touchdowns to stun the Sooners, all three coming in the fourth quarter to end the game in a thrilling 28-24 score. Golson crossed the endzone with four minutes to go for the final touchdown of the day and it would be all that was needed for the Irish to remain perfect, and the victory impressed voters so much, they leap frogged their way into the top spot in the country.
That leaves the Crimson Tide, who found themselves behind to a scrappy Ole Miss squad that refused to relinquish the lead and it wouldn't take much before the Tide finally broke. Nick Saban watched his team have deficits of 14, 20 than slip a little as the game started to get a little bit close at the end, but when it came down to it, this game belonged to the Rebels from start to finish and the Crimson Tide tumbled down the polls.
The Wisconsin Badgers were the only team to fall from the rankings this week, while the Brigham Young Cougars moved up to replace them. Wisconsin fell to the Ohio State Buckeyes who are still undefeated on the season, but were too close to the bottom part of the rankings to remain afloat. It's likely the Badgers will return later in the season, but for now they will have to be on the outside looking in.
In recruiting news, the only sizable coup was outside linebacker Casey Harmon. Harmon the top SAM linebacker in this years recruiting class was leaning towards Kansas State heavily throughout the entire process, but it was clear following this weekends visit to Oregon that he was weighing his decisions and by the middle of the week, the fax machine lit up in Eugene, with his signature. It is a scathing loss for the Wildcats who need help rebuilding to reassert themselves towards the top of a suddenly very competitive Big 12, while Oregon will have a leader in their ranks. Harmon is a tremendous talent and fits in very well with the Ducks defensive unit.Bulls|Bears|Cubs| Blackhawks|Huskies|Horned Frogs|

Re: The Legacy of Tyler Kozlov
Zips roll Bobcats after top halfback injured
It was an injury bug biting both teams, but on opposite ends of the spectrum. For one team, it meant the return of their top halfback, for the other it was the sole source of offense leaving in the middle of a tied matchup where he had been largely unstoppable and the sole source of yardage through the first half.
Naturally without their workhorse in the backfield, the team collapsed under it's own weight while the Zips managed to hold on, unlike their performance against the Falcons in order to pick up their first victory of the season, it only took six attempts, but now the Zips sit at 1-5 on the year, it's really unlikely the team will mount a rally to become bowl eligible, but when it came to a time to have a decisive victory, it was this game. With eight recruits in attendance, the team put on it's best performance of the year.
Kyle Pohl had an early interception that was largely the lone imperfection on a game where he spread the ball around and utilized all of his receivers, allowing Zach D'Orazio to get some much needed rest throughout the game and at the same time, allowed D'Orazio to sneak a few big gains throughout the game to help keep the offensive unit rolling.
It was another game without forcing a turnover and the Zips only managed one sack. This defensive unit is in need of a lot of work, and got gashed for 124 rushing yards in the first half, but due to an injury, it allowed the Zips defense to get off the field more and get the offense into the end zone after forced three and outs.
The Zips will take on the Northern Illinois Huskies whom have dominated the MAC in recent years and will look to continue that. The Huskies however are coming off a loss in their previous contest, while the Zips will have the momentum of a victory and the potential of letters of intents propelling this team even further. Needless to say, at the end of the game, Tyler Kozlov was beaming, and the fans at Infocision field were loud. The first victory for a coach which has taken over a team, many wouldn't dare.

Can't wait to see how the NIU game goes! All in for a late bowl push after stumbling out of the gate! That would truly be amazing! I hope the Zips can make it happen!

Re: The Legacy of Tyler Kozlov
Week 6 Wrapup
The season is nearing it's midway point and the action is undoubtedly heating up as Oregon who has hung around the top of the rankings has finally taken the top spot in the polls simply by being the last one standing. After Notre Dame tumbled this week as a second consecutive number one dipped to the pressure, the Ducks find themselves in a muddled race to the top that has all top five teams receiving first place votes.
Notre Dame welcomed the Sun Devils to their home and the Sun Devils were rude guests, besting the home squad in a decisive fashion, a 34-21 swing that favored the Devils and pushed the Irish out of the national title picture in an abrupt way. Everett Golson piled up all three touchdowns for the Irish who simply couldn't muster the firepower to top the Devils. DJ Foster punished the Irish defense with 200 yards on the ground, a huge total that included two of the Devils touchdowns and led to the other two as well.
The Ohio State Buckeyes received their notice when they put the nation on alert by slamming the ranked Northwestern Wildcats in a 34-12 decision that suddenly has Urban Meyer's squad on the map, and thanks to the timely fall of a few top teams, they made their moves in the rankings.
Speaking of falls, the Oklahoma Sooners were in the national title conversation just three weeks ago, now they are lucky to even be ranked. An absolute free fall of 17 spots in a span of two weeks thanks to consecutive defeats in conference play has opened up a major sense of vulnerability to the Big 12, which also saw Baylor fall in a mess of a game, the Big 12 is beating itself out of the national title picture. The one surprise, is the West Virginia Mountaineers, who are led by ex-Florida State and sudden heisman candidate, Clint Trickett and Dana Holgernsen suddenly has a team again.
The first mid-major graces the polls after six weeks of action as an undefeated Louisiana-Lafayette program tosses its way into the top 25 at #23. It is an earned rank, but there are some major holes in the squad, it's too early to consider them a BCS Buster, but they could very well be a team that could cause some trouble to a BCS squad if the situation comes around for them, thanks in large to a dynamic offensive attack and a surprisingly capable defense.Last edited by K0ZZ; 08-03-2015, 07:46 AM.Bulls|Bears|Cubs| Blackhawks|Huskies|Horned Frogs|

Re: The Legacy of Tyler Kozlov
Zips snag nine
In a rather stunning, and unexpected display following the first victory of the season, the Zips were able to pull in nine letters of intent from the surrounding areas as the team notable put an effort to recruit their pipelines. Of they 9, 7 came from their pipelines while they managed to bring in two outliers in Tony Guidry (WR) from Georgia and Travis Jones from Alabama.
The big name that will cause buzz for the Zips is Ahmad Watts. Watts was a workout warrior in his school events, posting a good bench and squat while an extremely good 40 time had some schools turning their heads. Oddly enough, despite the hype only Ball State and Ohio actively recruited the outside linebacker, and with his visit to the school beating one of his top three and a good pitch from the head man, he opted to sign his letter of intent.
"You can tell this school is going in the right direction. They have their community backing them and an excellent coach in Tyler Kozlov. They are struggling this season, but you can tell when you listen to him speak that he knows what he is talking about and this team will be a force in the MAC for years to come. It's a team to watch out for and I'm proud to say I'll be a part of it!" Spoke Watts to a small contingent of local reporters that attended his high school game.
A lot of these players are being considered "overrated" however by recruiting pundits and while it looks impressive for the Zips to have 8 three star prospects, many pundits suggest as many as six of these players could've easily been ranked two stars as well. Whether the pessimism is warranted is yet to be seen, but following the win on the field and the recruiting trail, this team has some steam going forward.

Re: The Legacy of Tyler Kozlov
Matt McIntosh leads Huskies rout of Zips
It would only take a week for the high of victory to leave the Akron Zip locker room, and a humiliating defeat at the hands of the Northern Illinois Huskies was more than enough to quell any source of momentum this team had at least in the short going. The Huskies had complete control of this game from start to finish, despite a late touchdown in the first half causing a faint sentiment of hope from the few Akron supporters that traveled to Dekalb to watch their team be beat down.
Kyle Pohl had a decent amount of yards as he remains towards the top of the nation in what seems to be a testament towards teams becoming more run oriented rather than a testament to Pohl's capabilities. Pohl however was harassed into three interceptions as well as a fumble as the Northern Illinois Huskie defense absolutely swarmed the quarterback and led the back into several errors.
Another big factor was the Huskies ability to shut down Zach D'Orazio. D'Orazio led the Zips the whole season in receiving yards and scores through their first six games. The Huskies didn't allow the wide out to record anything in this game, and the Zips targeted him five times, leading to two interceptions, a deflection and two natural incompletions.
"They knew our offense's go to guy in the aerial attack and they took it away. It's a testament to their players abilities and coaching. Without our aerial attack being a factor, Jawon [Chisholm] wasn't a factor because they were able to keep a linebacker in the box to track him. They played a huge game and deserved the win. They are the class of the MAC for a reason, and they showed it today" Spoke Tyler Kozlov to the small contingent of reporters.
Matt McIntosh virtually had a career performance against the Zips. Piling yards on the ground and through the air, scoring four times and always a force that caused the defense to have to spy the quarterback towards the end of the game, but by than his impact was more than felt. The Huskies have made a living off of "Tebow-lite" quarterbacks, being that they run a strong option game but can make decent passes if needed, and he made all the throws and runs that he needed to today.
Akeem Daniels also rattled off 200 yards, as the Zips who rank among the nation's worst in run defenses had no answers for the back. Daniels who made his staple on a huge touchdown rush early in the game when he ran over a safety and went untouched the rest of the way, was elated at the end of the game. "We went out there and took it. The hard way is what we say and we lived that today."
The Huskies improve to .500 in conference play, being that they are 1-1. The Zips on the other hand fall to 1-6 on the season and 1-2 in conference play. They take on the Miami (OH) Redhawks in their upcoming contest, both teams slate towards the bottom of their division, and the Zips would love to steal that one, and hopefully gain some momentum as they look to pull off something no one expects them to, and that is to gain bowl eligibility. They only have 1 win however, and any loss disqualifies them in their final five.
"It's a long road ahead, but we have to keep our eyes on the goal. The division title is likely out of reach at this point, but we can still make post season play, we just need to keep moving forward and keeping the focus on the end goal, a loss is a learning experience, but we have to brush it off. We sulk on Sunday and get back to work on Monday" Spoke Tyler Kozlov as he concluded his post game press conference to board the bus back home.

Re: The Legacy of Tyler Kozlov
The B1G got a big boost in popularity this week when Urban Meyer's club made a serious move towards the championship game by leaping into #6 in the rankings. This was on a week off they got to jump up 4 rankings this week to take hold of that sixth spot. The Buckeyes had the second biggest jump of the week and it all came from the practice field.
The other big leap was when the Ole Miss Rebels bettered their direction and improved to 4-2 on the season by holding onto a six point victory over the Texas A&M Aggies. This isn't the only big news coming out of the SEC this week. For the second consecutive week, the Arkansas Razorbacks stunned a ranked opponent, this time it was the South Carolina Gamebirds* who fell in overtime to the Razorbacks and down 9 spots to #15.
Oklahoma finally got something to cheer for as the Sooners who were very nearly ready to fall off the face of the earth picked up a victory over their heated rivals. The game fell from popularity with the fall of the Sooners and Longhorns, both teams being ranked certainly increases expectations of the game, but this was just salvaging their season.
Todd Gurley is gaining a lot of steam for his Heisman campaign as the year continues, and while it took him a while to get into the top five, he is solidifying his position in the polls and presently is the projected victor. While the season still has a lot of action yet to go, Gurley is being portrayed and playing at a level comparable to Adrian Peterson and is projected as such in the NFL, it could be his time to bring home the statue.Last edited by K0ZZ; 08-06-2015, 02:31 AM.Bulls|Bears|Cubs| Blackhawks|Huskies|Horned Frogs|
