Just looked through this for the first time and I am IN. Love the idea, love the articles, and also love the tough yet realistic early going for the program.

What a harsh way to lose.

How is your recruiting going so far? Fortunately, you're in a talent-rich state.

Thanks man, glad you liked those articles. I definitely plan on struggling with this being year one, and it'll probably be some time until we have a winning squad... I also purposely chose the pro style playbook opposed to the usual spread because its a lot more challenging. I do, however, have a huge storyline coming up soon that'll change a lot of things moving forward.

And as for recruiting, I myself haven't even been keeping up with it but I do recall that we got two commitments this week that I still have to report on.

Thanks for checking this out, deegeezy!

UNF Lands First Two Signings of 2016

          Sept. 28, 2016

          Brian Givens
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — North Florida University football landed two recruits to the Class of 2017 on Sunday, picking up in-state two-star tight end Isaiah Givens and two-star fullback Grant Kaiser out Greenwood, S.C.

Givens, of Palm Bay, Fla., committed to the Ospreys on Sunday after considering offers from Florida International and Marshall. The 6-foot-3, 240 pound tight end joins current UNF transfers Tomell One and Jeremy Faulk as Palm Bay High School alums. Despite being a freshman at the time, Givens noted on Twitter that he was good friends with the two linemen and that they both ultimately played a role in his commitment:

Kaiser chose UNF over Duke, South Carolina, Tulane, USF, and Louisiana Tech; none had offered the fullback a scholarship, per Rivals.com. Ranking in as the No. 14 overall player at his under-utilized positon, Kaiser will join UNF under a pro-style offense that relies on the position more often than most programs.

“He’ll (Kaiser) be big for us,” said Brian Jenkins, UNF head coach. “Fullbacks may not come out every play, but they’re always a player you can depend on when you call their number.”

Commitments are non-binding. The first day a recruit can sign a national letter of intent is Feb. 2, 2016.

          UNF 2017 Commitments:

Grant Kaiser | 2-Star FB, Rk: (Overall: 1625, Position: 12)
Isaiah Givens | 2-Star TE, Rk: (Overall: 1822, Position: 98)

Note: In an effort to create a more realistic recruiting experience, my last sentence of commitment being non-binding is true. I may post that a recruit "verbally commits" to us if he's high on UNF, but in reality didn't actually sign. This will allow me to post more surprises come signing day, decommitments and such

If you're wondering why my in-game photos look like crap and the recruits are usually all nice; simple, I got those pics off the internet lol. I like to have photos on nearly every post, so I just found and saved a lot of those. Looking at other great dynasties on here has me contemplating on getting a capture card, only I don't know if I should do it because I'd basically be paying +100 to post photos on here and I'm still in HS so money doesn't flow that easily haha... but at the same time, I'm really big on quality so it's really got me thinking.

What a heart breaker of a loss. I've had losses like that where all I need to do is run out the clock and of course I turn the ball over. Hopefully y'all can recover from that.

Random question. Is your recruit Isaiah Givens, wearing the Midland Lee Rebels high school uniform?

I hope your guy commits to a school period. He's been at the same level of recruitment since the beginning, and so has the other two recruits. If he doesn't commit I'll make him a JUCO or give you the option to walk on somewhere

But yes, that was probably the worst loss of all my history of gaming lol. But like I said, I wasn't too surprised to see that fumble. We're going to get ran by Clemson next week then we've got a couple of shots against some weaker opponents (UConn most notably is winless)

And yes that's Midland Lee, but in this case it's Palm Bay 😂

                Thanks for the comment man!

UNF Coach Unaware of Players-Only Meeting

                  Oct. 1, 2016

Henry McNamara was amongst those who spoke
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — North Florida University football has ran into multiple obstacles this season as the inaugural football team enters week at a record of 0-4. Their most recent 42-41 loss to Louisiana Tech is bound to set an everlasting effect within the school’s history for years to come. According to Jacksonville News, there was a players-only meeting this morning.

The report said the leadership-council players – linebacker Jarrett Gaines, receiver Trumaine Tyson and fellow receiver Henry McNamara – spoke at the a.m. meeting before the team’s practice. Notably, these are all former Bethune-Cookman players.

Apparently, it was not something urged by Ospreys coach Brian Jenkins, who coached at Bethune-Cookman prior to accepting the role at North Florida.

“I wasn’t made aware of this,” Jenkins said. “That’s news to me, I wasn’t told (anything) about it.”

After the report was read to him, Jenkins said there could be benefit if it’s true.

“Obviously it shows unity, and that this team wants to win,” he said. “We suffered a major setback last week, losing off that fumble. But we’ve already discussed this moving forward, we’ve been on our normal meeting schedule so I’m not really sure what this one was about.”

The Ospreys are trying to recover from the Louisiana Tech game, when Bowers, the starting running back, fumbled the ball which was returned 70-yards for the go-ahead score that won the game for the hosting Bulldogs.

Jenkins said that Bowers will start against Clemson on Saturday in Death Valley.

“We shouldn’t have exposed (Bowers) to the heart of that defense,” he said. “Had we just ran him up the middle we would’ve came away with a victory. We as a coaching staff take responsibility for that final sequence last week.”

This is probably not the best week for players to be going behind coaches back. It will likely only weather the storm against the Tigers who enter this week ranked No.12 in the nation. The game is slated as another televised broadcast, an exposure level the Ospreys have experienced three times in this young season.

                    Need to Know

Formerly ranked No.6, Clemson enters this game following their 30-27 overtime loss to Florida State which dropped them six slots to No.12. Also losers to Florida State (51-7), UNF enters this game winless after suffering a heartbreaking loss last week to Louisiana Tech which came down to a fumble-six, giving the Bulldogs the go-ahead touchdown with one minute remaining despite the Ospreys commanding start to the outing.

                    Stories

Both Ways: Cornerback Brice Hoyte is currently sixth on the team in tackles with 17, but the receiver Brice Hoyte places third for the Ospreys with eight receptions for 114 yards receiving and a touchdown. The 5-foot-9, 160 pound cornerback was formerly a two-way player in high school, but didn't expect to do the same at the collegiate level.

Aaron Randle, an offensive tackle, comes out as an occasional tight end behind Aaron Dobbs. At 6-foot-6 and 303 pounds, Randle is often used for the extra block, but has recorded three receptions for 29 yards this season.

Reevaluation of the Impact Players: Wide receiver and halfback hybird Henry McNamara tops the list. Against Lousiaina Tech, McNamara, brother of Brandon, rushed for 79 yards and two touchdowns while adding six receptions for 31 yards.

After an inconsistent start, Caleb Poinsette isn't a surprising mention. The quarterback also had his breakout game against LTU, passing 25-of-38 for 231 yards and three touchdowns. The quarterback also contributed to the break-out run game, adding 40 of the team's 209 yards rushing.

Year of the Walk-ons: Multiple players who walked-on (not preferred) at UNF this fall are receiving significant playing time this season:
                    • Ronald Booth - Starting Fullback - 6 carries, 19 yards, 1 touchdown
                    • Tyrell Miller - Receiver - 1 reception, 3 yards
                    • Jamie Chase - Kick Returner - 5 KR, 106 yards, 21.2 average

All this TV exposure has to be good for your program, in the long run. It gets your name out there, and players will want to be part of a growing program.

The players only meeting, in my mind, can only be good. It shows strong leadership and commitment. Sometimes there are things to be sorted out without the coach around.

Storyline wise, true, but in terms of the in-game recruiting I don't think it has any affect right now. We ourselves have a D- in television exposure, but me agreeing to schedule so many good teams went hand-in-hand with what you said; getting the program out there in a realistic style. Edit: I also realized I made a mistake by saying the Clemson game would be nationally televised, it's actually regional.

And the meeting, I'm not going to say much right now. It serves a significant purpose and it'll come up again later in the season.

                            Clemson Downs UNF, 72-0

                            Oct. 4, 2016

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Ten touchdowns were scored by Clemson as the hosting Tigers defeated North Florida University 72-0, putting in the books one of the biggest shutouts against a major program since the start of 2000.

Amongst a sellout crowd of 81,500 in Death Valley, UNF was outnumbered 717-to-191 yards of total offense as Clemson sourced 428 yards and seven touchdowns through the ground alone. Following a slow seven-point first quarter, the Tigers unleashed a lethal scoring clinic with 37 points in the second before topping 14 in both the third and fourth period.

The blowout score was, however, far from predictable when North Florida took the field in the game’s opening drive. Caleb Poinsette led the Ospreys down the field going 6-of-7 for 86 yards while hooking up with his wide open tight ends three times on the drive, utilizing a play-action threat that fooled even the high level Clemson Tigers. The 11-play possession was ended at the 1-yard line when halfback Antoine Bowers took a toss to the right before being swarm by Clemson defenders following a timeout call by UNF.

Typically when it’s said ‘they never looked back’, it’s a good thing. In this case, it’s the opposite as the Ospreys failed to regain their composure and dragged through much of the game’s remainder.

Clemson would score on their every possession in the second quarter before making matters worse for the Ospreys when a punting attempt by freshman Logan Whalen was blocked and recovered by the Tigers defense at the UNF 26. Clemson would not only capitalize the turnover with a score, but before the period ended they would do it again as Caleb Poinsette’s pass was picked by linebacker Ben Boulware and directly translated to points during the ensuing sequence as Deshaun Watson found receiver Mike Williams streaking into the end zone for a 31-yard touchdown reception, just one of Watson’s three scoring tosses.

“No heart, no integrity, no nothing,” said a frustrated Brian Jenkins at halftime.

Entering the third quarter of play up 44-0, Clemson didn’t go too far before subbing in their second-stringers while the Ospreys’ first unit remained on the field. Caleb Poinsette would appear timid against the Tigers defense, often settling for quick underneath routes despite having open receivers available down the field. Poinsette, who finished 16-of-34 for 133 yards, would finish the day with a stout 8.3 yards per completion.

“I was just following the gameplan,” the freshman quarterback said. “Coach (Jenkins) wanted me to go short, I went short.”

In result, Poinsette finished the second half without error in the turnover department. Halfback Antoine Bowers benefited from the philosophy with six receptions for 26 yards, while also taking 13 carries for an additional 42 yards rushing. Henry McNamara, who tallied 79 yards on the ground against LTU, would notably only receive five carries today, finishing with 13 yards as the hybrid athlete played mostly at the slot receiver position.

For Clemson, their backups only oozed the Tigers more into their commanding lead. Halfback Tyshon Dye would take the game’s most carries at 17, finishing with 115 yards and a touchdown to go alongside quarterback and fellow backup Barry Washington who ran for 65 yards and two touchdowns on nine attempts. Overall, the secondary Clemson backfield exploited the option offense just as efficient as the starters had.

Towards the end of the 72-0 downfall, multiple camera close-ups showed some of the UNF players smiling despite their positioning on the scoreboard. Senior wide receiver Trumaine Tyson was notably shown taunting a Clemson opponent. Tyson, a Bethune-Cookman transfer, was accompanied by the majority of his former BCU teammates in the ‘smiling act’ despite the loss.

UNF returns to EverBank Field next week where the Ospreys will play hosts to North Texas (4-0) for a 3 p.m. kickoff on Saturday, Oct. 11.

uhhh...ok...friggin' OUCH. That second quarter was a dagger straight through the heart. Good gravy man, I know a win wasn't expected but thats still rough.

Couldn't have been anything other than frustrating on the sticks, even when you expect it.

PS I'm intrigued about how the players jovial attitude is going to be handled by the coaching staff...

Oh god, that second quarter. I know exactly how you're feeling after that one. Hopefully it doesn't eat at your guy's confidence too hard
