      CONFERENCE REALIGNMENT NOT YET OVER?

After a leaked audio tape surfaced, rumors abound of possible conference realignment involving Notre Dame, Nebraska, Louisville, and Navy. First up, Notre Dame.

Notre Dame's potential landing spots sound like either the Big Ten or the ACC. They're already in the Big Ten for Hockey, and in the ACC for all other sports except football. While this would be interesting, it would depend on what the other teams involved do. Next up, Nebraska.

Nebraska's only option in this scenario is likely the Big 12, as they left the conference several seasons ago and left behind several rivalries in the process, including Oklahoma. However, this would probably be dependent on whether or not Notre Dame joined the B1G. A far more unlikely option is the PAC-12/SEC. Next up, Louisville.

Louisville had been a solid program at the mid-major level for a few seasons under Charlie Strong, however he has been at Texas for the past season-and-a-quarter. Although unlikely, they could join Notre Dame in going to the ACC. However, if ND decides on the B1G, that goes out the window. Finally, Navy.

Navy's scenario is the unlikeliest of the four, but they could potentially join the ACC with Louisville if Notre Dame does not. However much Navy's athletic department would like that, the ACC probably doesn't, as despite Navy's strong tradition, the success hasn't always been there. If they can reach a higher level and keep it up for a few seasons, the ACC would like them more. However, that is likely several years down the line.

So there are the scenarios from the leaked audio tape. Some of them (ND, Nebraska) sound good, others (Louisville, Navy), not so much. However, we shall see if any change is made by season's end.

Note: Remember that conferences are still at default , so no Rutgers or Maryland in the B1G, etc. However, I am looking for the viewer's involvement in this. So please, give me your feedback on these scenarios as well as any others you can think of. Thanks!

ROADRUNNERS PULL OUT WIN IN OT

This game was a defensive battle for the first three-and-a-half quarters, as the score was 17-17 at the end of 3. However, it would stay that way until the very end, with a touchdown by each team within the final 37 seconds to send the game to overtime tied at 24. UTEP won the toss and was on offense first. Alas, they only were able to manage a field goal. And on the game-winning drive, Corbin White, starting at HB in place of the injured Jarveon Williams, finally hit paydirt after rushing for 176 yards. He only needed one more as the Roadrunners pulled out the victory in El Paso. Next week, the Roadrunners will return home to host the Central Michigan Chippewas, who come in at 2-2(0-1) after a home loss to Toledo. Let's go Roadrunners!

                JAKE CARLISLE:THE BACKSTORY

This may be a little late, but I felt it would add more character to this dynasty, plus I enjoy doing this type of thing. Also, disregard any inconsistencies with real life. I'm just trying to make it interesting.

Jake Carlisle never stood out. In a room, if you were to pick the people who jumped out at you, Carlisle would likely be dead last. However, this didn't mean he had potential.

Jake Carlisle grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan in the early 90s. His entire family was involved with the University of Michigan in some way. His dad was an assistant admissions officer, his mother was on the staff of the women's basketball team, the list goes on. However, one way he did stand out was his passion for the other school: the Michigan State Spartans. He was a fan as soon as he knew what college sports were, and followed them religiously, but especially in football. Despite the fact that Michigan was considerably better during that period, he still favored Sparty.

For high school, he attended Pioneer High School in Ann Arbor. He played quarterback for them, and though never great, he was an effective game manager and lead the Pioneers to the state playoffs twice, during his sophomore and junior season. Then it all changed.

During the first game of his senior season, Carlisle dropped back on the first play of the game and was hit after he got the ball off to a receiver. The receiver caught it for a first down, but Carlisle went down. Hard. He had X-Rays after the game, and it was revealed to be a minor fracture in his throwing arm. He would be out for the next two months, and all but a handful of teams who had offered scholarships retracted their offers. However, the Pioneers made the playoffs and he made his return in the state quarterfinals, where he led his team to victory, and eventually a state title.

On National Signing Day,he elected to sign with the Michigan State Spartans as a preferred walk-on, despite offers from the directional Michigan schools, among others. He rarely saw on-field action, starting once as a senior on Senior Day in Spartan Stadium in 2010 against Purdue, a game the Spartans won. He was more of coach than player during his career, working with the coaches to gameplan for the next opponent and tutoring some of the younger quarterbacks about the playbook. That was why Mark Dantonio offered him a job as assistant QB coach after Carlisle graduated. He was more than competent, and thus before he left, he was Qb coach and assistant offensive coordinator for the Spartans. After four years of working under Dantonio, Carlisle headed south to become offensive coordinator for the UTSA Roadrunners, which is where he is now. And his story is just beginning.

Sorry if it was a little long. Let me know what you guys thought!

UTSA played their first away game this week as they faced the 25th-ranked Arizona Wildcats. Unfortunately, it was a rout from the beginning as the score was 31-7 in favor of Arizona at half. After they put their backups in, the defense stepped up and the final score: 37-14 Arizona. However, it wasn't turnovers or lack of production that stalled the Roadrunner offense, as they did gain 313 yards. They simply couldn't convert on 3rd down, going 3-12 for a pitiful 25% conversion rate. It isn't helping that Corbin White, backup HB to start the season has had to start as Jarveon Williams went down in against Texas State and will be out for the next 2 months. Hopefully they can step it up next week when they play the UTEP Miners for their C-USA opener. Go Roadrunners!

Didn't really expect to beat Arizona, would've been surprised if I did.

AUTHOR'S NOTE: Sorry to leave this alone for so long, got distracted by life and Madden, hopefully this can get rolling by next weekend. Won't have a game preview for Central Michigan, I played it before I did, unfortunately. Hopefully this comes back to stay!

UTSA BLOWS OUT CENTRAL MICHIGAN; GOES INTO CONFERENCE PLAY 3-1

The UTSA running game was truly firing on all cylinders as they blew out the Central Michigan Chippewas 41-21. They amassed a total of 442 yards on offense, with 231 of those yards coming from the running game. Corbin White had a breakout game, rushing for 198 yards on 43 attempts with three touchdowns.

"He (Corbin), was our workhorse today. Definitely had a game to remember, especially considering he came into the season as a backup running back," offensive coordinator Jake Carlisle said after the game.

For those who didn't know, UTSA's starting running back Jarveon Williams has been out since the first game of the season with broken ribs.

UTSA will travel to Huntington, West Virginia next week to take on the Marshall Thundering Herd, a team who comes into the game 3-1. Go Roadrunners!

UTSA GETS 4 COMMITS ON EVE OF MARSHALL GAME

This past weekend, UTSA received commitments from 4 recruits, all of which were desperately needed. The biggest one is three-star fullback Tyrell Mills from Georgetown, Texas. He is the the #7 fullback is the nation, and comes in as a good all-around fullback, in rushing and blocking especially.

The next commit is one-star fullback Michael Smith, out of Keller, TX. He is the #54 fullback in the nation, and should serve as a solid backup to Tyrell Mills in the years to come. While developmental, he has definite upside.

Next on the list is two-star tackle from Baytown, TX Jeremy Williams. He already has good size, coming in at 6'6", 276 pounds. He may redshirt his first year to work on his blocking skills, but could become the anchor on the offensive line over the next few seasons.

Finally, we have one-star JUCO transfer guard Reggie Davis. He is 6'3", 260 pounds. He originally hails from Mission Bend, TX, and also will likely redshirt his first year on campus to improve his blocking. After that, he could also become a mainstay on an offensive line that currently lacks depth.

The biggest remaining targets include middle linebacker Kellen Howard, defensive tackle Shane Brock, and center Mike Davis. Until next time, Roadrunner nation!
