Army to face Tulsa in Military Bowl
Army West Point (8-4) will face Tulsa (6-6, 4-4 American) in the Military Bowl. Tulsa has lost its past three games coming into this bowl game.
Their lone mutual opponent was Navy - both teams ended their regular season against them - Tulsa lost to them 41-20 while Army beat Navy 24-20 two weeks later.
Tulsa senior QB Dane Evans may or may not be ready to play - he has missed Tulsa's last five games - a stretch where they were 1-4 without him. Evans has thrown for 14 TDs to just 4 INTs this year, while backup QB Chad President has thrown 6 TDs but 8 INTs in relief.
James Flanders has run for nearly 1,100 yards for the Golden Hurricane. Joshua Atkinson is the team's leading reciever with 70 receptions for 954 yards and eight touchdowns.
This is Army's first bowl game since a 16-14 win over SMU in the 2010 Armed Forces Bowl.Comment

NEW YEAR'S SIX, PLAYOFF GAMES UNVEILED
#1 Ohio State (13-0, Big Ten champion) will face #4 Baylor (12-0, Big XII champion) in Atlanta, while #2 UCLA (13-0, Pac-12 champion) will face #3 Auburn (12-1, SEC champion). Auburn jumped Baylor in the committee's final rankings to make the matchups.
Western Michigan will represent the MAC in their second major bowl game - as they will face Miami in the Cotton Bowl. Southern Miss, who was ranked behind WMU in the playoff rankings dropped their C-USA championship game to FIU. Northern Illinois represented the MAC in the Orange Bowl in a loss to Florida State in 2013.

Nebraska will play in the Rose Bowl and will take on North Carolina, as there are no other Pac-12 opponents ranked in the top 20. Finally, Ole Miss will face Oklahoma in the Sugar Bowl.

Re: The Rise
West Point retains HC Jeff Monken, OC A.J. Jackson
WEST POINT, NY --- After a thrilling 9-4 football season, Army head coach Jeff Monken and staff will remain intact for the 2017 season.
With a variety of jobs open from Arizona, Cal, Boston College, Kansas and others - Monken and offensive coordinator A.J. Jackson were both rumored candidates for a few jobs. ESPN's Brett McMurphy reported that the Jayhawks targeted the current Army head coach as Kansas wanted to "redefine its football program from the ground up."
Monken met with Kansas last week, but it was never announced if an offer was made, regardless, Monken did not take it. Monken and Jackson were rumored to be a HC-OC pair if Monken decided to take a new job.
With Monken out of the running, some teams turned to first-year offensive coordinator A.J. Jackson to the same position. Jackson tested the waters but will return to Army for at least a second season. There is a rumor that Army did try to extend Jackson through 2019, a one-year extension to match Monken's current deal - but that allegedly was declined.
Army can now focus on its offseason after one of its best football seasons in many years and hope to continue the success of 2016.Comment

Re: The Rise
Congrats on an incredible season with some exciting ups and downs. It's pretty hard not to throw INT even if you're mostly throwing it downfield off the play action.
I love the ideas that you added to make it more realistic for Army with the weight limit. Like the idea of the work ethic boosts as well. I think the summaries you do on the around the NCAA are succinct yet effective, great stuff. Overall, really enjoyed the first season. Looking forward to the offseason and another year of the Black Knights.Comment
