Chargers Hire Terry McDonough as President of Football Operations
The Chargers organization wasted no time in hiring a replacement for former President John Spanos. John, the oldest son of team President Dean Spanos, was relieved of his duties and is expected to stay in the organization on the business end.

Before the final game of the season, the team announced Terry McDonough, the Cardinals Vice President of Player Personnel, as the new President of Football Operations. McDonough has spent close to 30 years in the NFL, mostly on the scouting side.

As a member of the Cardinals organization, McDonough became a top name for many open front office and General Manager positions in the NFL. He has worked alongside GM Steve Keim in building the Cardinals through the draft. McDonough has spent the last two seasons in his role as Vice President, after being a Regional Scout with the organization.

His journey to the Chargers started as an intern with the 49ers organization in 1989. From there, McDonough became a scout and personnel director for the Barcelona Dragons in the World League.

The Boston native continued to fight through the ranks of the NFL, making a reputation as a tireless worker and top talent evaluator. He was a member of the Cleveland Browns and followed the team to Baltimore when the franchise moved in 1996.

McDonough's tenure with the Ravens included the team winning Super Bowl XXXV in 2000. From Baltimore, he was hired and promoted to Director of Player Personnel for the Jacksonville Jaguars. In that role, McDonough scouted the top collegiate players throughout the nation as well as the top free agent prospects each year.

In 2013, he was hired by the Cardinals back on the scouting side. His role increased with his promotion to Vice President and now includes assisting with pro personnel and contract negotiation.

McDonough's role with the Chargers will be similar, but he will now oversee the entire football operations department. That includes working with the General Manager and being the lead on pro personnel decisions and contract negotiation.

Coming from a sports family, he is the son of the late Will McDonough, the long-time sports reporter and columnist for The Boston Globe who also worked at CBS Sports and NBC Sports.

He is also the brother of Phoenix Suns general manager, Ryan McDonough, and his other brother Sean McDonough, is the play-by-play voice of ESPN’s Monday Night Football and was previously on air with CBS Sports and was the television voice of the Boston Red Sox.

McDonough and his wife, Lynette have three children, daughter, Caroline, and sons, Patrick and Brendan.

Hey Maize I know I've already asked this question but can you PM me your complete slider set?
Your stats are the best in any dynasty blogs I've seen so far.
I'm also interested in your house rules while playing.
One of my house rules is don't play defense and only controlling the QB and the running back in offense to let the ratings determine the outcome.
I also use the quick play call and don't audible or hot route.

I'm very eager to see your whole season stats.

Thanks and sorry for the bunch of questions.

Chargers Fire Head Coach Mike McCoy
One day after the NFL's "Black Monday," the Chargers announced their decision on the team's Head Coach. After four seasons at the helm, Mike McCoy has been fired and finishes his time in San Diego with a 27-37 overall record.

Initially hired in 2013, McCoy had just finished a successful run as the Denver Broncos Offensive Coordinator. He replaced Norv Turner as Head Coach, after Turner's team had missed the playoffs for three straight seasons. His success in the AFC West caught the attention of the Chargers, who were one of five NFL teams that had interviewed him after the 2012 regular season.

McCoy became the youngest active Head Coach in the NFL and the second youngest ever. He was heralded as a bright offensive mind that had adapted Denver's offense to match the skills of Tim Tebow and put up historical numbers with Peyton Manning.

The longtime assistant of John Fox had finally gotten his chance to lead an NFL franchise. In his first season, McCoy led the Chargers to a 9-7 record and a playoff appearance. He was praised for his work with Philip Rivers, the NFL's Comeback Player of the Year for that season.

In the playoffs, the Chargers took down the Bengals in Cincinnati. That set up a game between McCoy and his former boss, John Fox. The AFC West rival Broncos only loss at home had come at the hands of the Chargers in Week 15. The Broncos exacted revenge, downing the Chargers by a touchdown (24-17).

The Chargers would again finish 9-7 in 2014, this time missing the playoffs and finishing a game out of the wildcard. The AFC West was becoming a competitive division, and the Chargers seemed a step behind the Chiefs and Broncos.

In that offseason, General Manager Tom Telesco would overhaul the roster. Trying to improve the defense and running game, Head Coach Mike McCoy would survive a difficult 2015 season. Getting the support of the front office, McCoy was given an extension through the 2017 season.

In his first three seasons, the Chargers had a top ten offense. Even with a 4-12 finish in 2015, McCoy oversaw a change to the coaching staff. The roster was now much younger than in McCoy's first two seasons.

An injury-plagued 2016 season ended with two straight wins. Many believed it would be enough to save McCoy's job. The franchise was in turmoil, facing a potential move and losing effort to remain in San Diego.

New President of Football Operations Terry McDonough took just ten days to evaluate the coaching situation before making a decision. Without the input of General Manager Tom Telesco, whose job is also being "evaluated," McDonough fired the 44 year-old McCoy.

Citing the team's many close losses in the last two seasons, McDonough also mentioned the team's recent offensive struggles. The Chargers' offense ranked 22nd in the NFL, including one of the worst rushing attacks in the league.

So the Chargers start their offseason with a coaching search. Many names have been speculated, including Offensive Coordinator Ken Whisenhunt. Other coaches rumored to be considered are Patriots Offensive Coordinator Josh McDaniels and Stanford Head Coach David Shaw.

There is no word on Tom Telesco's future with the franchise, at this time. McDonough said he had evaluated on his own, at the instruction of the team's ownership.

The team's ownership is also busy preparing for the decision to move the team to Los Angeles. The Chargers might be attempting to find an alternative to their failed downtown stadium development in San Diego. The future of the franchise's location should be settled before their deadline to decide on Los Angeles, January 14th.

No problem, I'm happy to help. A big part of balancing the stats is simulating games. Right now, like I've done with past Madden franchises, I play 10 games each season. That will really make realistic stats.

                      Use these: http://www.operationsports.com/forum...dden-17-a.html

Flazkos are awesome, I use all of his recommendations. My only changes:
                      - 15 minute quarters, Accelerated clock to 15 seconds.
                      - Injuries up to 45
                      - Facemask to 60

Use his "Secret sauce" slider set.

I'm usually shooting for 70 snaps per game. With the Chargers, that means 40 pass attempts and 30 rushes per game. I adapt my formation subs to balance out touches.

Chargers Announce Move to Los Angeles | January 12, 2017
The Chargers and Team President Dean Spanos called a press conference earlier today, announcing the team's official move to Los Angeles. In a short statement read by Spanos, the team had weighed all of their options and were thrilled for an opportunity to relocate the franchise.

This marks a return to the original home of the franchise. The Chargers played in Los Angeles in 1960, as a member of the AFL. The Chargers played their home games at the LA Memorial Coliseum. Ironically, the Coliseum will be their temporary home for the next two seasons.

A tumultuous season for the Chargers organization ended with a 5-11 record on the field. The real action was off the field: A failed vote to build a stadium in downtown San Diego, a front office restructuring, and the clock ticking on a future in Los Angeles.

The Chargers were initially hesitant to move to Los Angeles. It seemed they had limited options after their proposed downtown stadium did not receive the public support it needed in November. The Chargers were rumored to consider other stadium sites and even a complete renovation of Qualcomm Stadium. Finally, they accepted the relocation.

"The Spanos family always considered San Diego home (to the Chargers)," said Dean Spanos, in his official statement to the media. "In the end, we see a brighter future in Los Angeles. The fanbase will have a chance to follow, but we are excited to introduce the Chargers to a whole new generation of fans."

The Chargers will have to end their lease with Qualcomm Stadium on February 1st. They will owe the City of San Diego a termination fee of $12,575,000 by ending the lease at that time.

Temporarily, the team will share the Memorial Coliseum with the Rams. City of Champions Stadium (currently under construction on the site of the former Hollywood Park Racetrack), will officially open for the 2019 season. The Chargers are responsible for a $200 million dollar loan to aid in the construction of the stadium.

Additionally, the team is also responsible for securing personal seat licenses toward the construction cost. Former season ticket holders will have a chance to buy season tickets, including a discounted package for the next two seasons.

When the stadium opens in 2019, the Chargers will become tenants and pay $1 per year to the Rams.

At this time, little else is known about the organization's move. The front office is focused on a search for a new Head Coach and General Manager. They will need to find a temporary team facility and site for training camp.

Spanos did not comment on the logistics of the move. Instead, he focused on the bright future for the Los Angeles Chargers.
