Carlos Hyde Loses Mind
Running Back Carlos Hyde puts up 200+ yards in thromping of Panthers.
CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAR. -- The San Francisco 49ers downed the reigning Super Bowl Finalist Carolina Panthers behind the eighth best rushing performance in league history behind halfback Carlos Hyde.
Hyde took 26 rushing opportunities for a whopping 259 yards, scoring twice. This made up for a horrendous passing efforts, as quarterback Blaine Gabbert threw four costly interceptions. This brings Gabbert to an astounding 6 interceptions through 8 quarters of play.
The 49ers' defense once again came out to play, pressuring Panthers' quarterback Cam Newton all game long. Cornerback Tramaine Brock got two interceptions himself while team captain NaVorro Bowman picked up a critical sack on Newton that forced a three & out on the Panthers' drive.
"This was a big game for us - to jump to 2-0 early on the season against NFC opponents means that we're here, and we're here meaning business" commented Head Coach Charles Hastings. He also mentioned that backup quarterback Colin Kaepernick will play against divisional rival Seattle Seahawks.
"Blaine has some work to do, and the starting position needs to be earned back. He needs to be the reason we win, not winning despite him."

Re: The Gold Standard
Week Three Preview
Could anyone imagine prior to the beginning of the season that the San Francisco 49ers would be walking into Week three undefeated after defeating the reigning Super Bowl finalist Carolina Panthers and the Seattle Seahawks would still be searching for their first victory after dropping decisions against a Peyton Manning-less Denver Broncos and the offensively inept Los Angeles Rams sans Jared Goff and Todd Gurley II?
The answer is absolutely not. The Seahawks enter Week three virtually healthy, missing reserve tight end Corey Helfet to a lower body injury. The Seahawks will look to quarterback Russell Wilson to get the offense in gear, especially tight end Jimmy Graham. The C.J. Prosise/Thomas Rawls running connection will need to give this offense a necessary boost against the 49ers' budding defense.
The Seahawks' defense has struggled, which isn't something people are used to. The Legion of Boom, led by ringleader cornerback Richard Sherman, needs to take advantage of the seemingly turnover-friendly quarterbacks of San Francisco. The Seahawks will get their first crack at quarterback Colin Kaepernick, making his first start of the season over incumbent starter Blaine Gabbert.

Re: The Gold Standard
September 25th, 2016
Epic Collapse
Kaepernick throws four interceptions, Wilson throws all day in Seahawks victory
SEATTLE, WASH. -- All good things must come to an end as the San Francisco 49ers unfortunately came to find out. And find out they did, as the 49ers' dropped a decision 38-7 against their divisional rival Seattle Seahawks.
The running game on both sides were held virtually in check, as 49ers' back Carlos Hyde, coming off a monstrous tirade against the Panthers last week, was held well under 100 yards this game. Seattle's Thomas Rawls also had limited success, but fortunately found the end zone three times to put points on the board.
Seattle's quarterback Russell Wilson had an efficient passing game, finding his number one target - big tight end Jimmy Graham on crucial downs to keep the 49ers' exhausted defense on the field for long drives. 49ers' quarterback Colin Kaepernick fared much worse, throwing four costly interceptions behind an offensive line that was getting punished all night long.
"We got man-handled out there. If I wasn't the Coach, I would have tuned off my TV at half-time" commented Head Coach Charles Hastings, suffering his first regular season loss in his Pro Football career.
"I'd rather get the first one out of the way now rather than later in the season, but a loss is a loss. There is work to be done."

Re: The Gold Standard
Week Four Preview
The biggest question awaiting the challenging Dallas Cowboys as they head to Santa Clara, California for a bout versus long-time rival San Francisco 49ers is whether or not superstar quarterback Tony Romo will be starting or will it be budding backup Dak Prescott?
The Cowboys have again faced health problems in regards to Romo, who has played in each game for the Cowboys, but has yet to finish a contest. Prescott has come in and played well enough to cause some concern for the veteran. It seems the Cowboys will opt for Romo. Other critical players like halfback Ezekiel Elliott and wide receiver Dez Bryant are healthy and off to great starts.
On the defensive side, the Cowboys will be without middle linebacker Rolando McClain, but the defense is mostly intact. The Cowboys have always featured an adequate defensive squad that gives offenses trouble; let alone the anemic and deficient offense that 49ers have provided so far. Look for the 49ers to lean heavily on halfback Carlos Hyde.

Dak Attack
Backup QB Dak Prescott comes in relief of injured Tony Romo, leads Cowboys to bludgeon of 49ers
SANTA CLARA, CALIF. -- Another week, another disappointing performance under center by whichever quarterback is under center for the 49ers. Colin Kaepernick threw four interceptions - including one returned for a touchdown - in a 34-10 loss to the Dallas Cowboys.
The Cowboys finished the game without veteran starter Tony Romo, who left midway through the second quarter with an upper-body injury. Dak Prescott entered the game and threw a touchdown to wide receiver Cole Beasley as well as a Hail Mary interception. Running back Ezekiel Elliott has a big game with 102 yards and 2 touchdowns to lead the Cowboys' offense.
Kaepernick failed to get the offense going, leading them down the field and then throwing a red zone interception with garbage throws. In one case, Cowboys' cornerback Byron Jones went 102 yards to the house.
"Trash football", was one of the few comments from head coach Charles Hastings, who has failed to produce the world famous he was known for at the NCAA level.
"We have way too much work to do and we need a quarterback to throw to our guys - not theirs."

Re: The Gold Standard
"Johnny Football" Returns to NFL, signs with San FranSANTA CLARA, CALIF. -- When quarterback Johnny Manziel was released by the Cleveland Browns on March 11th, 2016 after a turbulent off-season and distracted season, it seemed as though the man formally known as "Johnny Football" had officially flamed out.
However, Manziel recently turned over a new leaf and made a pledge to get himself back into the NFL. His goal has officially been achieved, as the San Francisco 49ers announced the Manziel was signed to a one-year contract.
"We're not blind, we know Johnny has a lot of demons he still needs to exercise", commented Head Coach Charles Hastings on the signing. "He's a capable quarterback and he has convinced everyone involved with this acquisition that he is focused on the task at hand, and that's winning football games".
Manziel, 23, is not yet eligible to play for the 49ers, as he has to serve a four-game suspension for violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy he received back in June. Whether or not Manziel will be named the starter over the disappointing play of quarterbacks Colin Kaepernick and Blaine Gabbert when he is cleared to play has yet to be seen.
Manziel, a native of Tyler, Texas, was drafted 22nd overall in the 2014 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns after a successful college career at Texas A&M where he won a Heisman Trophy and upset the University of Alabama Crimson Tide during his redshirt freshman season.
The 49ers also traded outside linebacker Eli Harold to the Minnesota Vikings for wide receiver Cordarelle Patterson the same evening. The 49ers' anemic passing game has since top receiver Torrey Smith remain ineffective. The offense has leaned too heavily on running back Carlos Hyde, who is second in the league in carries this season.
Patterson, alumni of the University of Tennessee, has seen his role become limited to a third or fourth option in the receiving rotation behind the emergence of Stefon Diggs and Laquan Treadwell. Patterson is also a noteworthy kick-returner.

Re: The Gold Standard
Week Five Preview
The NFC West hasn't been as strong as it normally is. This game will launch the victor into first place in the division. The 49ers are trying to stop their two game slide and pray their offense finaly gets its act together.
The Arizona Cardinals have suffered their two losses against Tom Brady and the New England Patriots and dropped a surprising decision against the Los Angeles Rams the previous week. They will look at veteran quarterback Carson Palmer to get the offense going without the services of runningback David Johnson. Look to wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald to finally get his play in gear.
On the defensive side, the Cardinals feature an intensely talented squad that is highlighted by quite possibly the greatest cornerback in the game in Patrick Peterson. Not to mention safety Tyrann Mathieu is out looking for blood. The Cardinals also added linebacker Chandler Jones not too long ago. In a contract year, he'll be looking to ball out.

Golden State Defense
49ers' defense pressure Palmer all game long, lead to San Francisco victory.
SANTA CLARA, CALIF. -- Try as the Arizona Cardinals did late in the fourth quarter, the tremendous San Francisco 49ers' defense led them to a 22-14 victory after quarterback Blaine Gabbert nearly threw the game away.
49ers' runningback Carlos Hyde punched in yet another 100+ yard performance to will the offense while receiver Torrey Smith picked up 2 receiving touchdowns. The passing game never took off much due to an excellent effort from the Cardinals' secondary. Patrick Peterson led the way with an interception ran back for a touchdown. Tyrann Mathieu added 10 tackles.
The highlight of the game was most certainly the 49ers' defense; assaulting and getting at Cardinals' quarterback Carson Palmer all game long. Altogether, the 49ers collected five sacks and a strip fumble. Not to mention the game-clinching safety.
"We needed a performance like that - we desperately wanted to avoid sliding to three consecutive losses. This was a passionate performance" commented Head Coach Charles Hastings.
After playing two games in four days, the 49ers will travel east to battle against star halfback LeSean McCoy and the Buffalo Bills.
