        Week Six Preview

The AFC East has remained more or less the same for the past decade in terms of its social structure: it is the New England Patriots and then, there is everyone else. This season is proving to be no different, as the Patriots have yet to lose a single game and continue to cruise behind their legendary quarterback Tom Brady.

The Buffalo Bills bounced back last week against the Los Angeles Rams behind a 100-yard performance from halfback LeSean McCoy after losing to the Patriots previously mentioned. The Bills are finally healthy on offense after playing a few weeks without quarterback Tyrod Taylor. The Bills, however, are still waiting on former first round draft pick wide receiver Sammy Watkins to get in gear.

On defense, the Bills lost middle linebacker Reggie Ragland for the remainder of the year with a torn ACL. They recently lost his backup, Zach Brown, for the next three weeks with a dislocated elbow. The Bills will need to keep the 49ers' star runningback Carlos Hyde in check.

          Offense Comes Alive
QB Blaine Gabbert throws for over 400 yards in 49ers' defeat of Bills
BUFFALO, NEW YORK -- He still threw two interceptions, but San Francisco 49ers' quarterback Blaine Gabbert finally broke through for a solid outing, throwing for over 400 passing yards in a 49ers' 27-14 victory over the Buffalo Bills Sunday afternoon.

The 49ers received breakout efforts from wide receivers Hakeem Nicks, Torrey Smith, and recent acquisition Cordarrelle Patterson. Nicks led the way with nine receptions while Smith and Patterson posted yardages of 110 and 124 respectively. Hyde had a respectable effort on the ground, putting up 64 yards.

49ers' cornerback Tramaine Brock added to his league-leading interception totals, picking up his fifth of the year. The 49ers had trouble getting to the ever-elusive Tyrod Taylor, only picking up one sack. However, the secondary played extremely well and helped guide the 49ers to the victory.

"We needed a performance like that - we desperately wanted to avoid sliding to three consecutive losses. This was a passionate performance" commented Head Coach Charles Hastings.

After playing two games in four days, the 49ers will travel east to battle against star halfback LeSean McCoy and the Buffalo Bills.

                Week Seven Preview

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are coming to the West Coach in hopes of breaking their recent losing skid against a red-hot San Francisco 49ers squad. Quarterblack Blaine Gabbert is fresh off a 400 yard passing game and looks to take advantage.

The Buccaneers have young quarterback Jameis Winston leading the way with a couple of stud receivers in Mike Evans and Vincent Jackson. The likes of Tramaine Brock and Jimmie Ward will most definitely have their hands full. The linebackers will have to deal with runningback Doug Martin and his elusiveness.

Defensive tackle Gerald McCoy will look to slow down runningback Carlos Hyde, while linebackers Lavonte David and Kwon Alexander look to add to their eye-popping tackle totals. Vernon Hargreaves III and Brent Grimes will look to slow down the red-hot 49ers' receivers.

                  Gabbert-McDonald Connection Thrives
QB Blaine Gabbert and TE Vance McDonald hook up for over 130 yards in OT victory
SANTA CLARA, CALIF. -- The San Francisco 49ers escaped with a narrow 40-34 overtime victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after kicker Phil Dawson botched the potential game-winning kick as time expired in the fourth quarter. Quarterback Blaine Gabbert would hit Wide Receiver Torrey Smith in the end zone to clinch the victory.

Gabbert posted the highest passing yardage of any quarterback this season, posting up 480 passing yards as well with five touchdowns. Tight End Vance McDonald picked up 11 catches for 137 receiving yards in his breakout performance, taking advantage of a matchup with Buccaneers' linebacker Kwon Alexander.

The 49ers' defense once again struggled to get to the quarterback, but played well in hurrying some of Buccaneers' quarterback Jameis Winston's throws.

The San Francisco 49ers walk into their bye week at the head of the NFC West with a 5-2 record. They will return during Week 9, playing host to Quarterback Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints.
