          PENN STATE PROFILE:
          CB JUSTIN SCOTT
          SR; 5-11, 178 BRENTWOOD, PA

By the end of the 2033 season, Justin Scott’s position was no longer called the ‘nickel back’ by the PSU coaching staff. They’d changed it to the ‘monster’ position.
          Why?
All Justin Scott did as a ‘monster’ was rack up 67 tackles, 11 TFL’s, 4 sacks and add one interception en route to being named an All-American and the 2033 Thorpe winner – not bad for a guy who got cut as a freshman in high school. The fastest player on the team, Scott is a blanket in coverage and helps greatly in run support.

Penn State TE Tykiem Moore opens the scoring with a 23 yard touchdown reception in the first quarter against Wisconsin on Saturday. PSU would go onto to win 45-13.

            NITTANY LIONS MAUL BADGERS 42-13
Press Clippings from Coach Duane's post-game presser...

On the 35-10 half time lead…
“Great first half by our offense – Madsen looked good right from the opening drive. Great play by Moore to score on the opening drive with that 23 yard touchdown reception. And the 24 yard throw to Murphy on the hitch corner in the second was money. But I was disappointed in the second half production. Only 10 points in the second half wasn’t good enough. We have to learn that it’s about the process and we didn’t follow it in the last two quarters.”

On HB Threston Kennedy’s 100 yards of rushing…
“Just like last week, all he does is grind it out. 100 yards on 26 carries and his longest run was what? 10 yards (12 actually). But look at his YAC – 42 yards after contact. Threston just keeps grinding. He’s not a Heisman back like Mathew Robinson or Anthony Hogan but he just gives you 100% each time out.

On TE Tykiem Moore’s 106 yards of receiving…
“When you have 6-5, 234 pound tight end and you combine that we a stud quarterback, well that poses problems – especially when we run play action power. He gets open when manned up, he finds the seam in a zone, Ty just gets open. And our PR guys tell me he went over 100 career receptions today. Nice to see him get that!”

On the Nittany Lions defence which set a school record 13 sacks…
“Man, what pressure and what pursuit. I know those numbers are kind of inflated because he was scrambling a few times and didn’t get to the LOS but we had people around him all day long. And we had NINE different players record a sack. That tells you everyone was swarming and the 2’s did their job in the fourth quarter. And by the way, If Mark Jackson doesn’t get POW honors something is wrong. Three sacks and two forced fumbles – guy was a beast.”

            On the depleted secondary…
“Look losing Jon Jackson was a big blow. I mean we are talking about a physical safety that’s a key to our new 4-2-5. Then we lose a nickel corner in Reggie Gray. Now we are down to running out a converted fullback in Ben Taylor in certain packages. We all know Ben was an athlete who was miscast as a fullback but we were short there and he helped out. This year we were short in the secondary and not only has he helped out he’s contributed. Six tackles is big.”

                INJURY UPDATES
Reggie Gray (SO; Seven Oaks, SC), last year’s Freshman All-American Cornerback, was injured against Wisconsin and is out with an abdominal strain that should keep him sidelined about a week.
All American SS Jon Jackson (SO; Fort Mill, SC) remains sidelined with broken ribs and is listed as questionable.
WR Terrance Hairston suffered a groin injury in practice and is listed as doubtful.

                PLAYERS SUSPENDED
PSU Athletics has announced that CB Corey Howard (SR; Columbia, PA) and T Jake Hollis (SO; Bastrop, LA) have both been suspended for five games for their involvement in a bar fight in State College. Police have investigated the incident and determined that no charges will be laid. It was determined that Howard was a victim of an assault when Hollis came to his aid. However, PSU officials stated that both players had broken team rules by being at the bar after midnight.

                RECRUITING UPDATE
Penn State has announced that the #1 ranked HB in the country has chosen to become a Nittany Lion. “They were my first choice all along. It was a pretty simple process actually,” said Lance Stokes a 6-1, 220 pound speedster from Sebring, Florida. PSU also announced that the #2 tackle in the nation has also committed to PSU football. Chris Moore, a 6-6, 272 pound tackle from Campbell, Ohio is also coming to State College. Both players were visiting this past weekend and took in the 45-13 victory over Wisconsin.

The Nittany Lions face an old nemesis in Nebraska.

The Cornhuskers have won the last two meetings between these two teams.

Nebraska knocked PSU out of the undefeated ranks with a 48-30 win in Lincoln last October 15.

The Huskers also beat the Nittany Lions 35-14 in Lincoln on Oct. 21, 2028.

Nebraska (4-1; 1-1) squeaked by Pitt last week 21-19 while PSU (4-0; 1-0) hammered Wisconsin 45-13.

                    MLB AHMAD STANFORD
SR; 6-11, 228 WEST CHESTER, PA

Growing up in West Chester, Pennsylvania, a 11-year-old Ahmad Stanford made his first three hour trek to State College to watch Penn State beat UMass 34-16 on a rainy Saturday on October 12, 2024. It was Head Coach KC Duane’s first home win as head coach at PSU. It was also the first time that Stanford knew he wanted to be a Nittany Lion.

Fast forward to 2034 and Stanford hopes to continue in the tradition of great Penn State linebackers. Legends such as Millen, Ham, and Arrington now followed up by Linebacker of the Year winners such as Brandon Jackson (2026), Calvin Wood (2028), Freddie Galloway (2031 & 2032) and Takeo Henry (2033).

Stanford is now the man in the middle trying to emulate greatness but he is different. Stanford will be the man in middle of a 4-2-5 defence – all his predecessors played in a conventional 4-3 – and it will be interesting to see if he can put up the same type of numbers.

One thing is for certain no matter what the defensive alignment, Ahmad Stanford can be counted upon to get the job done.

Press Clippings from Coach Duane's post-game presser...

                      On the conditions
“Just horrible. The rain just made it a sloppy game and really forced us to go to our ground game.”

On the play of QB James Madsen, who had his worst game this season, going 9 for 17 for 122 yards with 1 TD and 2 INT
“The pick in the end zone on the first drive seemed to rattle him. And I think the rain might have had something to do with his grip on the football because it isn’t what we are used to seeing with James. Luckily, we went to our running game and we were able to move the ball along the ground. I’m sure James will bounce back against Maryland next week. I’m not worried.”

On FS Clint Brown’s 52 yard fumble recovery for a touchdown that gave PSU a 17-3 lead in the 2nd quarter…
“Absolutely a huge play. The turning point in the game really. Great hit by Ahmad Stanford to cause the fumble and nice to see guys rallying to the ball and it paying off. That gave us a big boost and seemed to deflate Nebraska. We seemed in control after that major.”

                      On the injuries….
“Man, it’s getting tough for us. We come into the game minus three starters in our secondary. Then we lose Ahmad Stanford to a concussion and then on offence, Threston Kennedy gets injured. Our depth is getting severely tested you have to admire how we have had guys step up and make plays.”

                      On CB Ben Taylor’s 7 tackles, 2 deflections and 1 fumble recovery…
“An amazing story. Great athlete who we slotted at fullback last year because we didn’t have a backup. This year, we’re short on corners and move him there. A redshirt freshman, he comes in due to injuries and all he does is make plays. Amazing story.”

On HB Dan Reid, who ran for 89 yards in the second half…
“Reider is such an athlete. Great speed and one our more valuable players because he can do so much. Heck, will all the injuries we’ve had on defence, he’s in our prevent package.
And he’s great as a receiver as well. Like I said at the start of the year, Dan Reid will be a player for us this year.”

PSU Head Coach KC Duane accepts the Rose Bowl trophy after his Penn State team defeated USC 38-20 on January 1, 2033.

KC DUANE ON THE MOVE TO USC?
                            STATE COLLEGE, PA –

The KC Duane-to-USC rumors have surfaced again with the Trojans off to an 0-6 start in the 2034 campaign.

Word out of Los Angeles is that Trojans head coach Bob Mixon is on the hot seat with the Trojans struggling. Mixon is in his fourth season at USC and owns a 38-22 overall record. He is coming off a 10-3 season but has gone winless in 2034.

Duane, who grew up in SoCal, was rumored to be USC bound after Lane Kiffin was let go in 2029 but apparently decided to stay at Penn State in an effort to capture a BCS Championship – which the Nittany Lions did in 2031.

With that in mind, and the possibility that PSU could be back in the BCS game this season, several sources indicate that Duane could be the Trojans next head coach despite the fact he just signed a five year contract extension this past off-season.

Duane is in his 10th season at PSU and has compiled a 116-26 record with four consecutive B1G Championships to his credit.

Penn State is coming off a 31-3 win at Nebraska while Maryland upset Michigan last week 38-35 at home.

KC Duane owns a 9-1 record against the Terrapins but the one loss arguably cost the Nittany Lions a chance at a National title in 2032.

Maryland was 0-6 heading into the game at State College on Oct.23, 2032 while the 5-0 Nittany Lions were ranked #1.

The 38-31 Maryland win at PSU knocked the Nittany Lions all the way down to #11 and they could never climb back into the BCS race despite running the table.

                                PENN STATE PROFILE:
                                CB BEN TAYLOR
                                FR(RS); 6-1, 231 BOONE, NC

Ben Taylor was an exceptional athlete coming out of Boone, North Carolina. All-State in football, basketball and field lacrosse, Taylor was a specimen.

But what really impressed PSU Head Coach KC Duane was Taylor’s maturity.

During the recruiting process, Duane and his coaches would all marvel at how the young man always spoke of his team’s exploits – not his individual achievements. As Duane said, “there were a lot of ‘We’s and not too many I’s” when you spoke to him.”

With that in mind, the PSU staff didn’t have too much hesitation in asking Taylor to fill a pressing need as a backup fullback prior to the 2033 season. Taylor, of course, obliged and spent his first season as a redshirt freshman backing up at fullback.

When then the 2034 season started, it was the secondary that needed some depth and the PSU staff thought it would be a better use of Taylor’s athleticism.

Fast forward to the start of October and the Nittany Lions secondary down three starters. All Taylor has done is come in and shine, recording an interception, a sack, two TFL’s, two pass deflections and seven tackles over the course of three games.

“He’s been an amazing story for us and we couldn’t be happier because he’s the ultimate team guy,” stated Duane.
