What a redemption story for your kicker. Pretty easy kick to make, but the pressure of end game never makes anything a gimme, especially after being iced by Florida *THREE TIMES*! Big win though, definitely a huge confidence booster for Mason, though he really needs to cut back on the turnovers. I guess that's the price you pay when you are as dynamic as he is and looking to make big plays, the ball ends up a little loose on occasion. Big win, and hopefully a springboard for 2 more wins before a nice test against Southern Miss before the real showdown with Alabama!Check out my Pitt Panthers Dynasty (NCAA Football 14)

Crazy how long I've been away, come back and It's LSU not Tulane. All caught up over the last few hours and as always, so impressive! Tough loss against your old team but with what you built, will always take some time until you can stuff them each season! Fantastic read as always.Comment

These last two games, back-to-back, have been amazing. Both have ended in triumphant fashion. All 3 sides of the ball brought it in the fourth quarter; even the 27-yard field goal was no gimme. It goes without saying that this has been a very fun team to play with so far.
Thanks for checking in!
Huge kick for Bryant, Love the uniform combo.
That punt and safety combo was a momentum swing for y'all for sure!
Scrambling QB fumbles keep me up at night, seems like a lot of them go for six too. Any strategies to limit those going forward?
Pretty good job keeping their running game in check and keeping Austin from making big plays.
Great win that shows this team has heart, could be in for something big sooner than later.
I'd like to see three more wins before the Bama game. Is that realistic?
Sneaking into the polls is nice too!
The run defense has really stepped up as of late. I am very happy to have gotten that under control. We have been on-point on our run blitz calls and also from a pure tackling standpoint, guys are wrapping up.
I believe we have a very good shot to get on a roll here and put together a nice streak going into Bama. I just need to keep focusing on one game at a time. A true rags to riches underdog story could be brewing here if we can keep stacking up wins.
One frustration I had with the end of game sequence was the CPU's refusal to use its timeouts to preserve time while I had the ball. I have seen them do it before - I want to say it was versus Ohio St. in last year's season opener with Tulane, but I believe that was a situation where the game was tied. That's really the only reason I ran the ball a couple more times there at the end when I really didn't need to; I was just trying to be a little fair. However it finally got to the point where I was like "oh well, that's on them!" LOL
Thanks for looking out on the Tulane thing. It's funny - one of the biggest fears I had in this revival project was doing something exactly like that and not learning about it until months down the road. Glad you caught it in game five. I went back and fixed them all. No idea how I overlooked that.
On a related note, I can't tell you how many times I still natural type "Tulane head coach D. Geezy" when writing my articles and I have to go back and edit. LOL

Mason improving in the turnover department will be a point of emphasis the rest of the way here. I am honestly a little surprised about the # of interceptions he has thrown thus far this season (7), coming off a year in which my QB at Tulane, Jimmy McBride, finished the year with 42 touchdowns and only 10 interceptions in 14 games.

We have a long ways to go to be able to hang with the Green Wave. That said, that loss they just suffered versus Tennessee could loom large this season as far as the standings. I think we have a real shot at the SEC if we can get hot here as we get set to turn onto the back half of the schedule.

Game 6, Year 1 Preview (2027 season): #23 LSU Tigers at Kentucky Wildcats
GAME 6 PREVIEW.
Courtesy
Latest Line (courtesy Bovada - Las Vegas):
....................15 1/2....................
Head coach D. Geezy last faced Kentucky a year ago at Tulane, and speedy RB Joel Baker's 202-yard rushing effort nearly lead to the Wildcats pulling off an upset for the ages.
Game Capsule: These two SEC divisional crossover foes meet twice every 5 seasons, with LSU currently holding a 7-game winning streak versus the Wildcats. A year ago when these two teams met, Tigers QB Rob Mason threw for 249 yards and 4 touchdowns as LSU scored 36 second half points en route to a 43-21 victory in Baton Rouge. The Wildcats have not defeated the Tigers since winning a 24-16 decision in 2011 at Tiger Stadium.
The last time first year LSU head coach D. Geezy faced Kentucky was season ago when, despite coming in as a whopping 30 1/2 point favorite, his 9th ranked Tulane squad needed double-overtime to defeat the very-game Wildcats in a 55-52 barn-burner at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

Ha...we *should* feast, but we haven't exactly lit it up in the sack department so far this year. Hopefully this could be a nice confidence-boosting game for the D-Line. Something to keep in mind though, in a game like this where we're the clear better opponent, it may not be wise to take a ton of risks blitzing and allow their speed to possibly beat us deep (something I think I fell victim to last year with Tulane versus Kentucky), but we'll see how the game flow goes.
Whoa...loaded question. It is a lot to detail here, so I will try my best to keep it as concise as possible.
I have a mixture of real life band songs and popular rap and rock songs I use. My library of music is literally close to about 200 songs, mostly youtube videos I have converted into MP3s in order to get onto my XBOX during my off-seasons. I have virtually all popular No Limit or Cash Money songs you can think of (which is considered somewhat local down in the LSU/Tulane part of the country), and popular current mainstream rap songs and stuff you hear played in real life stadiums today. Also, I have a long list of traditional stadium rock songs you'll hear from time to time (I tend to use the rock songs/mainstream rap songs for away games and the fun, more local rap stuff for my home games).
One of the things that is cool about LSU is that it is a school rich in tradition, so a lot of the songs I have set up for them are real life situational songs, so that tones down the need to toggle a lot of them. Where as with Tulane, they don't really have much of that sort of tradition, so I was switching out almost everything weekly (obvious pros and cons to both).
The main situations I toggle from game to game now that I am with LSU are the home and away team's timeout music, start of 4th quarter music, Tackle for Loss/Sack music, and Defense after kickoff music. I mix it up between songs by actual music artists and band music, depending on the opponent and my mood. I do it about a week before every game, whether it is home or away; obviously for away games, the songs would be heavily slanted towards my opponent's traditional songs, though I may throw in an LSU song to play after a home or away timeout if we're on the road, just to give the Tigers band a presence at the game outside of just the fight song, as they would in real life during road games. As you probably noticed in the latest video, I did the same for Florida as the road team in this last game.
Next, we have the traditional stuff....Music that plays after my team gets a first down or a defensive turnover/3rd down stop pretty much stays the same, in line with real life LSU games. This song plays if I convert a first down on first or second down: LSU First Down Cheer ... this song plays if I convert a first down on third down: LSU 2nd Down Cheer ... this song plays after my defense gets a stop on third down or a turnover: LSU Chinese Bandits. These three are all traditional LSU songs that you'll hear in these situations quite often in some form or fashion if you attended a game at Death Valley.
As for the non-traditional stuff - This last game, for tackles for losses and sacks I got, I played the song "*itch I'm from Louisiana", which is something they play in real life at Tigers games, but not necessarily in that situation. I will probably keep that one for another game, because I really thought it was cool for that situation, but that would be one I'd toggle with something else from time to time. This may be the one I use next for that situation: Eye of the Tiger.
The last thing I will highlight is this song, which I had playing when the defense takes the field after a kickoff this past game and can be heard a few seconds into the Florida game video: LSU Mo Bamba ...this is another song and situation I like to switch out every now and then.
This is really a weekly ritual for me. I usually knock it out at the start of a game week, taking maybe 2 or 3 minutes to make the changes I want on a Sunday or Monday after the previous game. I don't sit there and study it, because I like for it to be somewhat of a surprise when it plays virtually a week later when I play the game. Usually, within a day or so of me making the new playlists each week, I forget what I had done. So for example, when "itch I'm from Louisiana" played when I got that big TFL and sack near the end of the Florida game, I was pretty surprised and hyped up when I heard that start to blare on my speakers with the game on the line, and conversely, when the "Jaws" music played as I tried to kick the game-winning field goal this past game, it was quite unexpected and nerve-wracking.
Next off-season, I will re-evaluate, upload whatever new LSU or music artist songs I have heard or thought of over the past few months, and also any traditional songs any of my upcoming opponents might play at their stadium frequently (Texas A&M and FSU namely), then rinse and repeat.
Once you delve into the world of Custom Sounds, it becomes an addiction, but trust me, it is totally worth it.
....and with all that said, time to take on the Wildcats!Last edited by Deegeezy; 03-11-2019, 02:04 PM.Click here to read my dynasty report:

Re: Coach Geezy in the Big Easy Part III: Legacy | From Bourbon St. to the Bayou
Thanks for the in depth answer. I did sounds when I was playing as Mississippi. I'd like to add them in with ULL to add some life. Thinking a lot of band songs. When you do away games do you just add them under the home team or do all teams for that week?---Comment

Everyone else, I would go in and edit the sounds for their team exclusively before the game, then delete them after the game since there's only I believe 50 available slots and close to 40 of them are taken already between myself, Bama, and Tulane.Click here to read my dynasty report:

Game 6, Year 1 (2027 season): #23 LSU Tigers at Kentucky Wildcats
#2351 -- 4-2 (3-1)
N/R50 -- 2-4 (1-3)
Brothers Scottie Rodgers (#33) and Lucas Rodgers (#13) combined for some late game heroics to help LSU win an unexpectedly epic 51-50 decision Saturday night at Lexington.
Coming off back-to-back nail-biting games, a gutsy two-point conversion call by LSU locks up shockingly close 51-50 win over heavy underdog Kentucky in final seconds | Fueled by words from D. Geezy last year, QB Hartman lights up Tigers defense for a school-record 550 passing yards and 5 touchdowns as Wildcats nearly pull off a Saturday stunner but come up short in crunch time | For a second consecutive season, Kentucky gives new LSU head coach all he could handle; Geezy's Green Wave barely won a 55-52 double-overtime shootout versus Hartman-led Wildcats last year | Team hopes QB Rob Mason's clutch play and 5 touchdown, 0 turnover performance provides confidence boost heading into next week's rivalry game versus Auburn
Lexington, KY -- "I'm embarrassed to say I was a part of some **** like that," Tigers defensive backs coach Steve Ellis told LSU graduate student reporter Jordan Hebert as he walked off the field. In one of the wildest games in LSU football history, the Tigers defense gave up close to 700 yards of total offense, surrendering a Kentucky school record 550 passing yards and 5 touchdowns to Wildcats QB Charlie Hartman. However, thankfully the Tigers' offense also showed up to play, and that along with an incredibly gutsy call in the game's closing seconds were enough to earn a 51-50 victory over the Wildcats Saturday night at Lexington. In a game that likely evokes memories of 2002's Blue Grass Miracle for both sides, the two teams would battle back-and-forth throughout the surprisingly close contest that went down to the wire.
Kentucky QB Charlie Hartman played the absolute game of his life, throwing for an all-time school record 550 yards and 5 touchdowns versus the Tigers' surprisingly overwhelmed secondary.
LSU, who came into the game as a 15 1/2 point favorite, drew first blood when QB Rob Mason engineered a quick-play 4-play 67-yard drive to start the game, completing all 4 of his pass attempts en route to giving the Tigers an early 7-0 lead. However, as they would throughout the night, the Wildcats bounced right back with a touchdown drive of their own, which ended with a 45-yard scoring hookup between Hartman and WR Ronnie Brewer, who finished with a game-high 6 receptions for 154 yards and 2 touchdowns.
The Tigers seemingly controlled most of the first half, but on a possession following a 37-yard field goal miss by LSU PK Ross Bryant, Hartman's 27-yard touchdown throw to WR Nick Whitlock would cut the heavily favored visitors' lead to 21-19. Curiously, the Wildcats would decide to go for two and went on to fail the conversion attempt (a run by RB Joel Baker), making it a decision that would come back to haunt them later. Hartman finished the first half alone with 283 passing yards and 2 touchdowns.
"I could do nothing but shake my head with how we played tonight. We played like turd salad," said LSU defensive coordinator Charles Kelly. "Blitzing didn't work, not blitzing didn't work. Hartman was on fire and their overall team speed gave us problems all night long."
A 65-yard touchdown run by Tigers backup junior RB Anthony Johnson extended his team's lead back to 28-19 on the first possession of the third quarter, but after that, the wheels began to fall of for LSU.
A 25-yard field goal by Wildcats PK Chris Fitzpatrick cut Kentucky's deficit to 28-22. Then, following a lost fumble by LSU RB Scottie Rodgers deep in his own territory, Hartman's third touchdown pass of the night, a 9-yard connection with Baker, gave the home team its first lead of the evening at 29-28 heading into the fourth quarter.
"(LSU head coach) D. Geezy motivated the heck out of us tonight with his words from last year about how embarrassing it was for Tulane to have allowed Kentucky to play so close to them," said Hartman, referring to the Wildcats' narrow 55-52 double-overtime loss to Geezy's Green Wave a season ago. "He said beating us was nothing to be proud of, and that stuck with us. I wish we had finished the deed tonight, but I am proud of my team and proud to be a Wildcat tonight despite the loss."
Hartman would go on to throw another touchdown pass to Brewer that extended the Wildcats' lead to 36-28, but Mason and the Tigers answered right back when the junior signal caller found WR Joe Burnett for a 66-yard touchdown to tie the game up at 36-36 following a successful two-point conversion run by S. Rodgers. The drive was aided by a huge 4th and 6 gamble by Geezy at his team's own 25-yard line, which was converted via a 9-yard run by Mason with 6:04 remaining.
LSU QB Rob Mason burned the Wildcats with his legs several times Saturday night, including a 9-yard run on a wild 4th and 6 gamble from the Tigers' own 25-yard line with his team down 36-28 with 6:04 remaining.
A couple of possessions later, Mason and Burnett would connect on a 4th and 2 conversion via a 2-yard reception deep in Wildcats territory in which Burnett barreled through a tackler past the first down marker by mere inches. That allowed a drive to continue which eventually led to a 9-yard touchdown catch by S. Rodgers to tie the game up at 43-43 with 2:21 to go. Burnett, the team's #2 wide receiver, finished the night with a season-high 4 receptions for 115 yards and a score.
The two teams traded blows throughout the fourth quarter, and a 9-yard touchdown run by Wildcats RB Tony Campbell gave the underdogs a 50-43 advantage with just 0:50 remaining in the game. However, what looked to possibly be the final, game-winning knockout punch for the Wildcats was merely setting the stage for the Tigers to do what they'd done each of the previous two weeks - find a way to win.
With the game on the line with under a minute remaining, back-to-back 16-yard scrambles by Mason quickly moved the ball into Wildcats territory. Then, a couple of plays later, Mason's desperation heave into bracket coverage was hauled in by TE Lucas Rodgers, and the junior Louisiana native and older brother of Scottie Rodgers would use his 6-4 254-pound frame to drag a tackler into the end zone. At the tail-end of a frustrating night for L. Rodgers, who ended the game with only two catches after seeing extra attention the entire game by the Wildcats defense, his emphatic touchdown in crunch time made the score 50-49 with 0:14 remaining and with the extra point attempt to tie the game to follow...or not.
In one of the riskiest moves of his career, Geezy would decide to go for two and the win rather than the tie to go to overtime. And thankfully, unlike the last time he made a similar decision, it worked. An off-tackle power rushing attempt by S. Rodgers resulted in the true freshman plunging through Wildcats freshman OLB Cory Hicks and into the end zone for the conversion, giving LSU a 51-50 lead with mere seconds remaining in emphatic fashion. Ironically, it was the same exact playcall Geezy ran in 2015 versus Arkansas in the exact same game-deciding situation, however the play would come up inches short when former Green Wave star RB Reggie Moore was stuffed at the goal line for the Razorbacks to hold on for a 38-37 win at snowy Fayetville.
"It would probably be accurate to say that that was an uncharacteristic move by me tonight, but the truth of the matter is, I had seen enough and was not going to put the ball in Hartman's hands in overtime. As these young kids out here would say, we didn't want that smoke."
Head coach D. Geezy's gamble paid off as RB Scottie Rodgers' two-point conversion run put the Tigers up by one with just 0:14 remaining.
"The way the game was going, I thought the odds were better of us winning the game on one play as opposed to sending it to OT and having to win a 10, 12, 14 play scenario. With the way they were playing, I decided in the end that this is going to be decided mano-a-mano, with a power play behind our best lineman, Erik Meyer versus their DE Jeff Alexander on an off tackle power play, and thankfully it worked out. There was no hesitation on our part; we only called a timeout there because Meyer was winded and we needed him to catch his breath before putting the game in he and Scottie's hands."
With only seconds remaining, Hartman and the Wildcats had an opportunity to try to pull off a similar miracle to that of former LSU QB Herb Tyler and WR Devery Henderson back in 2002's aforementioned Bluegrass Miracle game that was played on the same field, however there would be no walk-off 74-yard touchdown on this day. LSU senior DE Lawrence Hicks saw to that and would take down of Hartman on the game's final play before he was able to get off his hail mary attempt, and the LSU sideline poured onto the field in jubilation, despite the circumstances of the win against the seemingly wildly over-matched opponent.
"I read this quote a couple of years ago in an article once after we won a close game versus Florida back when I was at Tulane, but there is no lesson you can get from losing that you can't get from almost losing," said Geezy. "Thankfully, we figured out how to dig deep and were able to come out of this thing with a win, but we certainly got a big wakeup call this evening. It's clear that we still have a long way to go to get where we want to be.
"I told the guys in the locker room to enjoy this win for the next 24 hours because they deserve it. However, come Monday, be ready for a painful film session and reality check, because the tape will be very ugly; we have a ton of work to get done to fix this thing."
LSU (4-2) has now won three straight games, including winning each of its past two games by a single point. The Tigers will take on rival Auburn (2-3) next week in Baton Rouge.
Notes: Kentucky's 685 total yards of offense are the second most ever given up by a Geezy coached team; the previous-high came in 2025, when Geezy's Tulane squad gave up 705 yards in a 49-27 loss at Southern Miss...Hartman’s 550 passing yards broke former Kentucky great Jared Lorenzen's single game school record of 528 passing yards, which was set in a 34-30 Wildcats home loss versus Georgia in 2000.

LSU scored a touchdown to tie the game up at 43-43, setting up a wild finish in the contest's final 2:21.

QB Charlie Hartman, who nearly led his team to a huge SEC win over head coach D. Geezy's Tulane squad a year ago, had his game face on and would eventually play unquestionably the best game of his life.
QB Rob Mason pumps his fist after an opening drive 5-yard touchdown pass to WR Russell Stephens gave the Tigers an early 7-0 advantage.
LSU true freshman LB/DE hybrid Will McNeal celebrated after knocking down a pass attempt in the first half. The Opelousas, Louisiana native and former 4-star recruit had a big evening, finishing with a career-high 2 sacks, and leads all Tigers defenders with 4 quarterback takedowns on the year.
WR Brady Carter Jr., a 4-star recruit out of Campbellsville, Kentucky this past off-season, saluted a few of his friends and family members in the stands following his first career kickoff return touchdown. Playing in his home state, the speedy true freshman wideout had the best game of his career to date, hauling in 5 receptions for 74 yards along with the return touchdown that gave LSU a 14-7 first quarter lead.
QB Rob Mason saw a lot of blitz looks from the Wildcats defense, but here he hit RB Scottie Rodgers out of the backfield for what would turn into a first down gain in the second quarter.
Mason headed back to the sideline and celebrated with senior DE Lawrence Hicks after a quick 4-play drive netted the Tigers a 28-19 advantage less than a minute into the third quarter.
Just as he did last year when Geezy faced the Wildcats at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome back during Geezy's Tulane coaching days, Kentucky RB Joel Baker had a huge game, racking up 176 scrimmage yards and this 9-yard touchdown reception gave the Wildcats a stunning 29-28 lead going into the fourth quarter.
Wildcats WR Ronnie Brewer burned the Tigers defense for a 65-yard touchdown that extended his team's lead to 36-28 in the fourth quarter. The lightning-fast junior ended the night with 6 receptions for 154 yards and 2 touchdowns, all game-highs.
WR Joe Burnett, who finished with a season-high 4 receptions 115 yards, flexed his bicep with Mike the Tiger following his spectacular 66-yard catch-and-run touchdown that helped tie the game up at 36-36 with 5:35 to play. The big score came just one play following a crazy 4th and 6 gamble from the Tigers' own 25-yard line that was converted via a 9-yard run by Mason.
Pic 1 of 3: Trailing 50-43 with less than 0:20 remaining, Mason launched a pass into the direction of TE Lucas Rodgers.
Pic 2 of 3: Despite being double-covered as he had been for most of the night, the Tigers' leading receiver this season with 29 catches for 480 yards hauled in Mason's desperation pass.
Pic 3 of 3: Rodgers would refuse to be denied the end zone, dragging Wildcats true freshman FS Ronnie McGuire past the goal line to cut his team's deficit to 50-49 with 0:14 to go. One play later, Rodgers' little brother Scottie would power his way into the end zone for the game-winning two-point conversion.
Similar to the Blue Grass Miracle in 2002, Kentucky fans could do nothing but look on in shock and agony after losing a close home game versus a heavily favored LSU squad in excruciating fashion once again.
Tigers players taunted the Lexington crowd by waving goodbye to them at the end of the game.

Nice to see the winning streak. Keep your head on a swivel; Tiger Bowl looks like a trap.

Honestly, it was all about game flow. It got to a point where I felt like no matter what we did, QB Charlie Hartman was just in the zone and we were not going to be able to stop them defensively. Some people call it "robo-QB," I call it a kid that was just in the zone, fueled by Coach Geezy's words about Kentucky from the prior season with Tulane, who for one night played the game of his life.
I can't tell you just how uncharacteristic of a move that 4th and 6 from my own 25 was. I NEVER do anything like that, especially with a game in doubt. I didn't even do something like that versus Tulane a few weeks back when we were getting blown out late in the game. I just felt like if we did not score on that possession, we would be going down by 14 in short-order even if we had punted and subsequently would have had no chance at a comeback.
The same principle applied with the 4th and 2, though that one was pretty much a no-brainer in any situation for any person, down by a touchdown with under three minutes remaining. I really wish I had captured that moment on video, because I'll tell you what...Burnette may have gotten that first down by just a centimeter.
On the game-winning two-point conversion, instead of taking my chances on a 10, 12, or 14 play overtime, I decided that I'd rather take my chances on a single play with my LT Erik Meyer up against their defensive end and hope that Scottie could make a play to get into the end zone. I decided that the left side of my line, my RB, and my FB were all better than the right side of their defense, and we'd be able to push it in. I truly felt at that moment, with 0:14 left in the game, that offered us the best chance to win, and thankfully it worked out. Not going to lie, my entire body felt numb and it felt like my stomach dropped as I snapped the football there.
As for the jerseys...
Seriously though, I thought for weeks I'd be wearing the traditional white against Florida and then 3 or 4 days before the game I changed my mind and decided to break out the purple on white with the white helmets. I still may wear white in a home game before the end of the season, but this year, I'm really enjoying the idea of ushering in the new D. Geezy era of LSU football with a new look while moving on from the past traditions; besides, the purple jerseys really pop in this game. Let the past die.
Thanks for the great feedback as always brothers!Last edited by Deegeezy; 03-12-2019, 04:16 PM.Click here to read my dynasty report:
