    Re: Strength in Unity.

Solid performance in the second season so far, Bench looks like he has really claimed ownership of the role and can do it with both his feet and his arm when the situation calls for it. Really enjoying the work that you put into covering recruiting, it really makes the recruiting battles feel much more intense.

Close but no cigar; can USF improve on already impressive recruiting hall?
Eddie Fernandez -- 247 Sports USF Insider

Despite sliding down in the recruiting rankings due to other teams rising up, USF was able to land another commitment in the form of three-star in state quarterback Mario Greer.

Greer is the second quarterback in the class behind four-star Steven McKenzie and the third quarterback the Bulls have landed in the past three months. Similar to McKenzie and Grant Oliver, Greer is a pocket passing quarterback with very limited mobility. While head coach Malcolm Francois continues to use his quarterbacks as runners on the current 2014 team, that doesn't seem to be the plan in the future.

Greer is the 14th member of what the people inside Tampa view as '17 to 18' man class, giving USF three to four more open spots. Offensive tackle Darren Charles is looking like a Florida State get while the two UCF commits at receivers Jeff Bell and Lamont Dickson appear to be steadfast in their commitment to the Golden Knights. USF has been unable to make much progress with linebacker Charles Nichols due to a late push by Maryland leaving USF without a receiver or linebacker in this class. This is important to note because the Bulls have three receivers graduating this spring and in the team's new 3-4 scheme, there is a need for depth at outside linebacker as well.

Unfortunately, there aren't a lot of options for the Bulls right now as there just aren't a ton of available outside linebackers right now. Their best bet would be to convert a pass rusher such as Sandy Springs, GA defensive end Matt Hayford or another three-star Georgia defensive end in Evan Rucker.

The more concerning position is receiver as unlike for the outside linebacker position, this incoming recruit won't just be providing depth, they might need to contribute. The two names to watch are Nathan Harris out of Miami, Florida and Brent Sowell out of St. Marys, Georgia. Two three-star recruits that have been lightly recruited by the major programs but bring something to the table. Harris is a six-foot-three receiver with legit 4.44 speed.

With such a loaded class that has exceeded any sort of realistic expectations, it's tough to criticize the coaching staff but simply put, the team needs to find at least one receiver and an option at outside linebacker or this could become a sore spot and eventual weakness on the team down the line.

Bench has gotten better and while he can get a bit erratic still when throwing the ball, he makes up for it with his legs. interested to see a post-Bench offense since none of the quarterbacks i recruited are mobile.

Lynch trying to get back into swings of things as sack drought has came to an end
Anthony Washington -- The Tampa Bay Chronicles

USF outside linebacker was a finalist for a bevy of awards last season, splashing onto the scene after transferring from Notre Dame and recording twelve sacks in his redshirt sophomore campaign. Lynch did all of that as a defensive end and now in the team's 3-4 scheme, Lynch finds himself standing up as an outside linebacker and up until two weeks ago, the six-foot-six, 247 pound junior had failed to register a sack.

"It's definitely frustrating," said Lynch of not being able to repeat his production from last season, "You want to go out there and compete and help the team and I just have to be patient, not force it and play within the scheme of the defense."

Marty English was hired this winter to fix the USF defense and if anything, English's 3-4 defense has hurt the Bulls. The opportunistic defense of last season was able to counter a lot of their deficiencies by getting after the quarterback and forcing turnovers. The Bulls have just thirteen sacks on the season, six interceptions and have allowed more points than anyone in college football outside of 1-7 Tulane.

The dip in team defense and personal production has put a potentially halt on Lynch's potential plans to go into the draft after this season. Through all of this however, the Bulls are 7-2 and could play in an AAC Championship Game and will be playing in a bowl game, providing a stage for Lynch to showcase his talents to NFL scouts.

Gutierrez commits to USF as the Bulls lose out on WR Dickson
Eddie Fernandez -- 247 Sports USF Insider

Three-star WR Lamont Dickson has cancelled his visit to USF for the UCF game and has double-downed on his commitment to UCF, likely ending his recruitment process. Teammate and fellow UCF commit four-star WR Jeff Bell is expected to do the same as well, living USF receiver-less in this class.

The Bulls did land yet another offensive linemen in the former of six-foot-three, 324 pound three-star tackle Isaac Gutierrez out of St. Cloud, Florida. Gutierrez is the sixth offensive linemen in this class and likely the last as USF is no longer considered the favorite to land offensive tackle Darren Charles. Florida State is the pick among the experts with Charles slated to take a visit to Tallahassee in the coming weeks.

USF is also losing ground on linebacker Charles Nichols with the three-star favoring Maryland and Southern Miss over the Bulls.

A new name for USF fans to learn is Nathan Harris, a three-star wide receiver out of Miami, Florida. Academic issues have cooled things off for Harris as he was once being recruited by the likes of Florida, Florida State, Miami and Alabama. It's rather late in the process and it'll be an uphill climb for the Bulls to try to recruit Harris this close to the dead period but at this point, they'll need a prayer either way to land a receiver.
