New Mexico taking some scalps! Big wins in the last two weeks, looks like you're on pace for another run in with Bama in the playoffs.

Re: The Great Realignment (NCAA 14)

Have been busy for the last month but still played some and kept up with the graphics. Finished the season so I'll just splurge the whole thing in one go:

              WEEK THIRTEEN

Took care of business with Wake Forest. Nealy really kept getting better and better despite his rough start to the year and injury. We had a BYE Week 13.

              WEEK FOURTEEN

Nothing big happening. CFP picture was pretty clear. Did not record my game stats with Oklahoma State- we would win it quite easily 49-21.

              CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS

One of the better slates of championships have had. Was really excited to see if this really improbable Maryland team (only an 84 OVR) could revenge their game with Clemson. Felt confident with Bama over Florida. Loved that we have had two straight classic's with Texas and now played in the BIG 12 title game- developing a bit of a rivalry. Also, one of the bigger G5 title games with top 15 MAC programs

              POST-CC / COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFFS

Clemson was in trouble early to Maryland but pulled away. Everyone else took care of business. Michigan State, led by come-from-behind Heisman QB, had a blowout BIG 10 title win and now looked like they could bump Penn State out of the CFP. The Top 3 were pretty clear.

I decided to go with Penn State instead of Michigan State. I had made that mistake Year One with bypassing a one-loss P5 team for a 'hotter' two-loss team. Alabama, Clemson, and New Mexico all returned for the second straight year.

              END OF SEASON REVIEW

New Mexico finished #3. We truly showed up against Clemson. It was a back-and-forth contest all night. DJ Uigelei (however, you spell it lol) was stud and took care of the ball while Cedric Nealy turned it over twice despite scoring three times. It came down a last second field goal to knock us out. However, the favorites all along, Alabama took it home with a close win for their second straight title.

Some interesting notes on the side was the MAC's big year and Northern Illinois beating Ohio State in Fiesta Bowl. However, Cincinnati won the MAC title so they got the nod for promotion. It appears all G5 title winners will move up considering the best record for independents was 4-7 (what the hell lol). Also, made the right call as Michigan State lost to a 4-loss Arizona in their bowl game.

New Mexico only had two 1st team All-Americans. Both were deserving but would have liked to see Nealy make it (wasn't even second team though). Franklin deserved the Heisman nearly throwing for 4000 and running for 1000. I actually nearly had him signed to come to UNM years ago. Also interesting to Michigan with so many AA's and award winners despite their disappointing year. No over the top stat seasons.

Can't beat winning the BIG 12 our first year in the P5 and going to a second straight CFP. This was our big year though and we will need to reload for about two seasons to get back. Nealy ended up smashing the college football season QB rating with a score of 241.0- that was with missing several games. He topped off an electric career and one of my favorite players I've ever played with- sometimes you never knew what this guy would do when you threw it.

Adams had to be the O-MVP though. Heisman runner-up and was the machine that kept us alive through three QBs. Big year out of Jon Flynn too.
Terrence Smith won D-MVP and finally got the edge on Young. Crazy how both had such similar stats. Mr. Underappreciated went to four-year starting TE Adrian McIntosh who actually finished with 35 career receiving touchdowns. Never realized how vital he was in the redzone until I looked.

Our team offensive numbers went up but our defensive numbers went down- I'll take that with a significant increase in SOS.

              TYRO HOF INDUCTEES

Pretty obvious selections here. Three four-year starters that began in the Sun Belt and ended in the Big 12 and two CFP appearances. Their numbers are all a bit ridiculous. Nealy finished with 15,339 total yards and 188 TDs (NCAA record). Young and Smith combined for 738 tackles, 146 TFL, 27 sacks, 31 interceptions, and 8 defensive TDs. Really interested to see if they were just a product of the system or if the next guys up do just as a good.

              NCAA HOF

Definitely biased with Nealy but two CFP appearances and 188 TDs get you in the HOF lol. Bryce Young quite literally was perfect going 30-0 with two rings as starting QB with some insanely efficient numbers. Davis, in my opinion, had to go in over some other big number guys. He was their four-year back that took them from the American conference all the way to a NY6 bowl win and Top 10 finish. Very underrated.

              OFF SEASON REVIEW

Five new teams will be promoted to Independent including App. State (could they be the first TeamBuilder team to reach the P5?). Really sad to see Mississippi State going to CUSA lol

Saban finally retires, going out on top. His job is taken over by the OC. Some other P5 big job changes- really thought Sanchez was going to bring Tennessee back. My OC Sarkisian took a HC job a Houston (Trying to track my coaching tree).

Interesting QB grad transfer choices with Johnson staying in conference at Michigan and now I get to face Wright in the Big 12.

We didn't knock out recruiting like we normally did (surprising that we actually are in a P5 conference now). Still earned a #11 spot. Really excited about my top three guys (Taylor will be a WR and Fine will be a RB).

To note, neither Nealy, Bryce Young, or Alex Davis were drafted lol. However, I did have two more taken (still no first round picks).

My upcoming team is still very good. The past few seasons we have had 15+ returning starters and now we come in with only 10. Excited to start follower-created Sandro York as my freshman Nickel. I am also deciding to role with 86 OVR FR QB Bryan Jordan over my 99 OVR SR QB and 96 OVR JR Tyler White. My rationale: Jordan is one of the best true QB prospects I've seen generated. As a RS FR, he has a 99 ACC, 89 POWER, and has a 87 speed. The only reason his OVR is an 86 is because his awareness is a 55. He truly is the best QB. However, I'm not going to miss this opportunity to build some drama. I am going to put both my SR and JR QB on the grad transfer recruiting board this year (excited to see where they go and if I get to play them)

                    GOING INTO 2025

A look at the new conferences this season. For the first, all Indy's will be G5 promotions. This should set up at least one to break into the P5. So far the only ones to achieve this have been Boston College, Maryland, Tulane, New Mexico, and Fresno State. Of those, only Maryland and New Mexico have had notable success. Kansas State looks to return home while all others ae journeymen. Especially Cincinnati who an Independent three seasons ago and is poised for a great shot to move up.

A very typical starting T25. Nice to see Ohio State back in the Top 10. Also nice to see the ratings begin to spread out now that the custom rosters have been played through. Was not sure going into the year how we would look but being tied for the highest rated team with the Heisman frontrunner is a good start.

An interesting schedule for sure here. The Big 12 is not very strong this year outside of us, Texas, and Oklahoma. Nebraska has been noteworthy the last few years. Got a big date with Cincy in game 6 and really looking forward to play grad-transfer QB Josh Johnson and Michigan late in the season. Might be a crucial game by the time it rolls around.

                      2025: WEEK 1 - 7

                      WEEK 7 BYE FOR UNM

                      _____________________________

Can't beat being undefeated right now. The only real hiccup we have had was against TCU, first half of Montana State, and the 3Q of Oklahoma. Other than that our offense and defense has been humming. Bryan Jordan has lived up to my expectation almost. I found his huge flaw: stamina. He gets winded incredibly quick and risks himself for injury. My offense involves a lot of rollouts and designed QB runs so this has been an issue. Justin Hartman, my backup fellow FR QB, has filled in well. But Jordan Adams has been the horse for the fourth year in a row. Rushing and receiving, he does it all, and that's why he's favored to win the Heisman. Defensively, there's been too many stars to really pick as an MVP. Eddie Walton is on pace for maybe 20 sacks. Linebackers Danny Andrews (SR) and Vince Scott (FR) have picked up where my four-year starters left off. Our secondary is the best I have had with SR Eric Hearn and FR nickel Sandro York leading the way.

Around the league, LSU looks like the team to beat. A Heisman finalist QB and they have dominated every team. Texas and Michigan both pass the test on paper but have historically blundered. Cool to finally see a grad transfer QB having a lot of success (Wisconsin transfer Josh Johnson) for Michigan. Interesting to see Louisville, Stanford, and Syracuse back on the map after some very quiet years. The PAC12 has definitely been the lowest performing conference so far- by a lot. Excited to see Mississippi State can rebound their program and which MAC team will win: Northern Illinois or Illinois

                        2025 WEEKS 9-Conf. Championships

Ultimately, losing Jordan Adams did our season in. Without him, there was just too much of the offense relying on freshman Bryan Jordan and could only ask of him so much playing three top 10 teams in a row. Beating Texas makes it all worth it though lol. Heck of a year for our defense too. Only allowed over 20 points twice three times all season. Hopefully just looking to land a New Year's 6 Bowl.

This regular season was among the craziest to date. The early upset of Alabama, the unlikely rise of Syracuse, Virginia, and Colorado State, the amount of CFP candidates heading into the Conference Championships. A really fun year all together to follow.

With Syracuse losing unexpectedly in Week 14, this put Virginia in a true shot at getting in the CFP by winning the ACC title. Also, an incredible BIG 12 title matchup with the winner most likely getting in. Nebraska's lost loss was against Texas Week 4 (34-7). Alabama and Michigan State are win and in while Stanford blew their shot by losing their second game in Week 14. Unlike other years, Rutgers and Tulsa are the only ranked Group of 5 teams playing in the CC.

An upset of Nebraska over Texas shook up the entire race but the picture seems pretty clear cut. MSU, UVA, and Bama all are definitely top three teams as they all claimed their conference titles. Nebraska is the only other P5 conference champion in the Top 8 and defeated 2/3 of the next highest teams. This one seems quite clear cut. And how about Oklahoma? They started off 1-4 and won eight straight to going into Bowl Season at 8-4.

The picks are in and Alabama gets the #1 seed for the third straight year. They will take on the red hot Cornhuskers who haven't lost in two months. On the other side, Michigan State looks to prove they were wronged for the 2024 CFP snub- they are led by a sophomore QB and RB. Virginia on the other hand is the most unlikely to be here and are led by senior QB Marcus Patterson.

New Mexico will play Stanford in the Rose Bowl

                          2025 POST-SEASON REVIEW

What a crazy ending to the 2025 season. Nebraska goes on a completely unexpected run to upset Texas in the B12 title game, upset Alabama in the semi's, and then take out Michigan State to win the title. Also, the Top 25 finishes with 7 non-P5s.

The national awards were a bit all over the place with three different QBs winning Heisman, Maxwell/O'Brien, and first team AA. For UNM, we landed Jordan Adams despite missing several games, national sack leader Eddie Walton, and breakout LB Danny Andrews.

No crazy stat seasons outside of some phenomenal QB play out Syracuse's Crawford, Texas' Lacy, and Rutger's Wilcox.

As seen in the first graphic, we got taken to the shed by Stanford. Not sure what really happened. Bryan Jordan missed the game but we actually got Jordan Adams back for one last performance. Did not matter. Our offense could not move AT ALL and our defense got pummeled by the run. An embarrassing way to end the year.

The year as a whole was a success with our defense being ranked #1 nationally in PAPG and several memorable seasons from our freshman QB, would've been Heisman RB, and standout defensive players.

                          OFF-SEASON

Only two made it in my HOF this year. Jordan Adams was an obvious pick being a 4x AA and totaling over 7500 yards and 80 TDs from scrimmage (also why I put him in the CFB HOF as well). Felt Jon Flynn should get in too. He was making passes other guys dropped all four years and really turned into such a big play target his last two years. His YPC is insane but crazy enough, most of his route were posts or flags- very few verticals. I considered putting Eric Hearn at FS but his numbers just never improved after his FR year.

New Mexico lands the #1 class in CFP this year with two B12 teams following suit. Overall, a pretty normal year of recruiting. Former UNM QBs sign to play at Alabama and South Carolina while Oklahoma back-up takes his talent to the newly risen power of Stanford.

Several head coaching changes from notable schools. There were only four promotions this season as Cincinnati will remain an independent. Of the four, Rutgers appears the most promising returning their All-American QB and WR. Southern Miss and San Diego St. went up by default. Kansas State was a tough choice as 11-5 Tulsa looked to demote them but I couldn't screw KSU over twice. The real victors in this whole thing were 1-11 WVU, 1-11 Miami, and 1-11 Auburn who lucked out of demotion by having all their respective independents below .500.

New Mexico went from hardly any draft picks to an insane 6 1st rounders including 3 WRs and 1 RB. Even my 3rd string RB was drafted (Alvin Kamara anyone?). My recruit class was stacked to the gills. Not sure where Joe Lawson will be put but he is one of my favorite looking prospects since Emmanuel Taylor last year.

As for my projected starters, we will have a good team again. WR is a little down, line is improved, and this might be our best overall defense yet. 2026 here we come.

Just doing my periodic posting of half the season. I know it probably takes away from the building up from day to day of games but it is the only way I can constantly track things.

                            WEEK EIGHT

                            WEEK NINE

Nationally, I am thrilled to see how it is all turning out. I was very interested in seeing where my two elite backup QBs would go. The fact that Tyler White has South Carolina at #5 and Andrew Wallace is a Heisman finalist while leading Alabama is pretty cool. Really looking forward to our #1 vs #2 matchup with Oklahoma. I look out for one team every year to do really well and this year was Rutgers since they returned a 1st-team AA QB and WR. After starting 1-2, they've won every game since. Even saw a week where UConn got up on them 17-0 in the 2Q and they ended up winning 59-17. Also, Mississippi State (a 93 OVR team in the CUSA) getting almost 70-burgered by Louisiana was a unique event. Things within the Top 10 always go nuts towards the end of the year. This time last year Nebraska was ranked #18 and won the whole thing.

As for us as a team, really liked how the defensive side has developed. With a better secondary, I have been able to blitz a lot more and experiment some. Vince Scott is on pace to be the best LB I've had (which is saying a lot). Ivan Ford is having the best season I have had for a CB and is probably our defensive MVP by a mile. Kind of disappointed with DE Eddie Walton's output this year. Had 30 career sacks coming into this season (had 14 as a SO and 15 as a JR) but only notched 3 so far. Offensively, Bryan Jordan has continued an upward trajectory. He's on pace for roughly 3800 yards, 45 TDs and 7 INT. Damien Jenkins has been a great back this year and I expect he'll be a first round pick. My wide receiving corps has been the best I have had- very very few dropped balls. The shining light in this is FR WR Emmanuel Taylor becoming the go-to slot target I've been looking for. Excited to see how we finish. Perhaps our first-ever National Title?
