BREAKING NEWS: AIR FORCE EARNS TRIP TO THE NATTY

J.B. White and his Air Force teammates will face Wisconsin for the 2026 national championship.

    GOING TO THE NATTY!
    Air Force to face Wisconsin
for BCS title in Rose Bowl

    Cue up Van Halen.

For Air Force coach B-Dawg, he gets the best ... of ... both worlds.

A little heaven right here on earth.

    Oh, yeah.

One of the main attractions for B-Dawg when he moved his Air Force football team to the Pac-12 Conference was the possibility of playing in the Rose Bowl, the grand daddy of them all. Growing up as a Michigan fan back when Michigan actually went to Rose Bowls (pouring a sip for the program), there was always something special about that 5 p.m. game in Pasadena on New Year's Day.

Well, not only did the Falcons qualify for the BCS national championship game by the slimmest of margins, but said game will be held in the Rose Bowl.

    "Bliss," B-Dawg said.

Air Force will take on Wisconsin for the national championship after Tennessee and Clemson were knocked off in conference championship games. Wisconsin held on to its No. 1 spot in the BCS rankings by rallying to beat Ohio State in the Big Ten Conference title game, while Air Force vaulted from No. 5 to No. 2.

USC was No. 4 heading into conference championship week, but was idle because the Falcons won the Pac-12 South Division. The Trojans have lost only twice, while the Falcons have lost three times, but one of USC's losses was a 27-7 decision to Air Force on Sept. 26.

Air Force and USC both had a .987 percentage in the BCS rankings (whatever that means), but the Falcons got the nod.

"I understand how USC might be upset that a team with three losses moved ahead of them, but we would have four losses if they would have beaten us and they would have only one," B-Dawg said. "Beat us and you don't have to worry about it."

B-Dawg has taken 19 teams to national championship games in his 106-season career, dating back to NCAA 2004, but this is the first time he's done so with a team that has lost three games. The only other team he's coached to make it with more than one loss was his 2007 Michigan squad in NCAA 2005. The Wolverines were 10-2 in the regular season. Every team in the nation lost at least two games that year.

That team lost 31-28 in overtime to Tennessee in New Orleans.

The Air Force-Wisconsin game will feature two Heisman Trophy finalists. Wisconsin quarterback Erik Weeks and Air Force running back Jarod Pearson are among the five players who have received invititations to the Downtown Athletic Club.

Weeks is 245-for-369 for 3,449 yards, 34 touchdowns and nine interceptions. His favorite target is Rory Ward, who has 82 catches for 1,092 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Pearson's inclusion in the Heisman top five is, quite frankly, a joke. EA's Heisman engine is apparently impressed that he's racked up 26 touchdown runs, nearly all of which have come on toss plays near the goal line. He's gained only 623 yards on 167 yards, second on his own team to first-string running back Marion Benjamin's 770 yards on 145 carries. Air Force's biggest threat is senior receiver J.B. White, who has 111 catches for 1,592 yards and eight touchdowns.

Both teams are riding hot streaks. Wisconsin lost 48-45 in overtime at Cincinnati to start the year, then lost 28-23 to Army on Oct. 2, but has won its last nine games. Air Force was 3-3 after a loss to Oregon before winning seven in a row.

B-Dawg's biggest concern is the Wisconsin passing game. The Badgers are No. 2 in the nation in passing offense at 284.5 yards per game, No. 1 in scoring offense at 38.6 points and No. 1 in total offense at 495.1 yards.

Air Force, meanwhile, is DFL in the country in pass defense, allowing 285.1 yards per game through the air. The Falcons counter with a run defense that is the polar opposite, ranking No. 1 by yielding 92.7 yarsd per game.

"This could be scary," B-Dawg said. "I hope we can find something that slows them down sooner rather than later as the game goes on."

    FINAL 2026 RANKINGS
    1. Wisconsin (11-2), .997
    2. AIR FORCE (10-3), .987
    3. USC (10-2), .987
    4. The U (11-2), .984
    5. Nebraska (10-2), .981
    6. Auburn (11-2), .981
    7. Notre Dame (9-3), .971
    8. Tennessee (10-2), .960
    9. Clemson (10-3), .955

      2026 COLLEGE FOOTBALL AWARDS

DeAndre McCollum (left) and Grant Hayden (right) of Air Force took home national awards in 2026.

      Air Force has Thorpe winner
      for fourth consecutive year

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. - The Thorpe Award seems to have a new permanent address.

For the fourth straight year, the award has gone to a defensive back from Air Force, as senior strong safety DeAndre McCollum won it for the second consecutive time.

He was preceded by strong safety Nate Wilson in 2023 and cornerback Mark Monroe in 2024.

"Our defensive backs don't intercept a lot of passes, but EA seemed to program the Thorpe to reward guys who make a ton of tackles," Air Force coach B-Dawg said.

McCollum has 113 tackles and has set the all-time record for most career tackles by a B-Dawg player with 418. He broke the record of 413 set by Eastern Michigan linebacker Fabian McCoy from 2009-12 in NCAA 2008. McCollum is strictly a run stopper, having picked off only five passes in his four-year career.

McCollum also won the Bednarik Award, while senior outside linebacker Grant Hayden won the Butkus Award.

Six members of Air Force's defense made first-team All-America, something that could only happen for a user-controlled team in a video game.

Hayden, McCollum, defensive tackles Ryan Buckley and Ashton Hogan, outside linebacker Fred DeLuca and free safety Nick Lindsey made first-team All-America.

NEW YORK - Air Force will be facing the Heisman Trophy winner when it plays Wisconsin for the 2026 national championship.

Badgers quarterback Erik Weeks won the Heisman by nearly 300 voting points over Hawaii running back Steve Stone.

Air Force running back Jarod Pearson, whose only claim to fame is collecting garbage touchdowns on goal-line toss plays, was fourth.

What a season. Every team in the top 10 had 2 or 3 losses. It would be fascinating if that happened in real life.

College football would be more exciting if a season like this was even possible. It would approach the parity of the NFL, where the best teams still have two or three losses. College football is pretty boring, apart from rooting for your own school. You know Alabama will make the playoff every year. Now it's just a matter of what combination of Clemson, Ohio State, Oklahoma and Notre Dame makes it.

I'm still bumming the series ended the year before the playoff was added.

I could have sworn that Michigan team of mine in NCAA 2005 had three regular-season losses and still got in, but it was three losses after the national championship loss. It kind of feels cheap and dirty making it with three losses (I remember feeling that way with two in NCAA 2005), but we probably should have made it once or twice already with only one loss. The Pac-12 obviously gets much more respect than the Mountain West.

              2026 SEASON, GAME 14

Air Force coach B-Dawg is hoisted by his players after winning the 2026 national championship.

Linebacker Grant Hayden stops Anthony Brown for a short gain on fourth-and-five with 4:25 left in the game.

              NATIONAL CHAMPS!!!
              Rice delivers on coach's bravado,
              leads Air Force past Wisconsin

PASADENA, Calif. - B-Dawg didn't engage in coach-speak after getting his first glimpse of Chad Rice as Air Force's quarterback.

A normal coach would have tempered expectations and spewed some nonsense about taking it one game at a time, respecting the process, yada, yada, yada.

B-Dawg isn't normal. Trust us when we say that.

So, when Rice beat defending national champion Michigan State in his college debut as a freshman on Aug. 26, 2023, B-Dawg began cranking up the hype machine.

"We're winning a natty during Chad Rice's career," B-Dawg proclaimed. "You can take that to the bank. What he did today on the road against one of the best teams in the country was incredible."

Fast-forward to Jan. 2, 2027, the final game of Rice's record-setting four-year career with the Falcons. It was his final opportunity to deliver on his coach's hyperbole.

              Rice delivered.

Rice threw for 353 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 46 yards and a score to upstage Heisman Trophy winner Erik Weeks in Air Force's 31-28 national championship victory over Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl.

Why was B-Dawg so certain about Rice that he went full pimp mode on him after just one game?

"You could see right away that he could produce against any team in any environment," B-Dawg said. "So, I knew I had a quarterback who could get the job done within four years. But mostly I just know how video games work. I knew we would be nine years into this dynasty when he was a senior. Anybody who plays a dynasty probably wins a natty by the ninth season unless they are super strict with their sliders or other rules."

This is the 15th national championship B-Dawg has won since NCAA 2004, but the first title playing on Heisman mode. It's also the first he's won with three losses. Air Force won its final eight games after a 3-3 start.

"I might be more proud of this natty than any of the others," he said. "You have to deal with some Heisman mode B.S. every game. Why do you think we're DFL in passing defense? It's not because our defense is that bad. We have to put up with robo-QB crap playing on Heisman and find ways to overcome it."

With the game tied 17-17 at halftime, Wisconsin moved the ball down the field on the first series of the second half. On third-and-four, defensive end Rashad Moore stopped Robert Heard for no gain on a pitchout, forcing the Badgers to kick a 29-yard field goal with 7:51 left in the third quarter.

Rice went to work from there, giving the Falcons a lead they would never relinquish just 52 seconds later. He hit wide-open receiver Brian Brown with a short pass on the right side of the field. Tight end Ben Huff made a great block and Brown was gone, scoring on a 39-yard play with 6:59 left in the third.

It was the school-record 83rd and final touchdown pass of Rice's career.

Air Force stretched the lead to 31-20 with 8:29 left in the game on a 3-yard run by Jarod Pearson, who was held to eight yards on eight carries after finishing fourth in Heisman voting. A 17-yard catch by Huff set up the touchdown.

Defensive tackle Ryan Buckley dropped back as a spy in Nickel Cover-2 Disguise on third-and-14 on Wisconsin's next possession, stopping Rory Ward eight yards short of a first down after making a catch over the middle.

Air Force kicker Kyle Stegall hit the left upright on a 45-yard field goal try with 5:45 left, leaving the Falcons up by 11.

The Badgers moved to the Falcons' 26-yard line on their next drive. A pass was dropped on third-and-five before outside linebacker Grant Hayden stopped a screen pass to Anthony Brown for only a 2-yard gain on fourth-and-five with 4:25 left.

Wisconsin got the ball back with 2:56 remaining, but would need to score twice to at least tie the game.

After an incompletion on third-and-nine in their own territory wth 2:10 left, the Badgers inexplicably chose to punt. Air Force ran a normal defense, which allowed 95 OVR senior punter Cole Wyatt's kick to roll for a 79-yard kick.

"The CPU A.I. essentially waved the white flag for them," B-Dawg said.

Air Force was content to run three times and milk the Badgers' three timeouts and some clock. The Falcons punted after gaining only five yards.

Wisconsin created some drama by hitting a 30-yard touchdown pass from Weeks to Frank Brwer with 1:34 left. Brewer's 2-point catch made it a 3-point game.

J.B. White recovered the onside kick and Air Force needed to snap the ball only three times. Marion Benjamin ran for gains of six and two yards before Rice kneeled it out.

Wisconsin was in the red zone only twice, settling for field goals both times.

Congrats on the natty! Pearson really scored 27 TDs on less than 200 carries?! That's insane. What's next for B-Dawg?

Yeah, he's more of a power back, so I had him formation-subbed into my goal-line package. I don't tend to throw or run for long touchdowns, so it seems like every one of my touchdowns comes down to having to score from three yards in or less. Running a toss play from goal line from within three yards is probably 85-90% cash money. The CPU automatically bunches in everyone to stop a run up the middle, leaving the edge wide open if the guy on the outside of the line makes the one block he's responsible for.o

EA loved all those touchdowns and disregarded the fact he's darn near useless on the rest of the field.

We're going to make a run at a repeat next year after graduating some of my all-time greatest players (more on that in my next post). I picked up some recruits who I'm really excited to use for the next four years, so I'm here for at least four more years. I've given thought to starting a new dynasty after that to keep things fresh.

                      DEARLY DEPARTED FOLLOWING 2026

(From left) Quarterback Chad Rice, receiver J.B. White and strong safety DeAndre McCollum of Air Force set career
                      records for a B-Dawg player from 2023-26.

                      Air Force graduating some of
                      B-Dawg's all-time great players

B-Dawg put together a list of his all-time top 10 players after winning his 1,000th game of NCAA Football dynasty mode.

Quarterback Chad Rice, wide receiver J.B. White and strong safety DeAndre McCollum were just freshmen on the team that achieved the milestone, their careers a nearly blank canvas.

Now that they've written the final chapters of their careers at Air Force, it's not a stretch to suggest one or all three of them would make a revised top 10 list.

All three set career records for a B-Dawg player, records that have stood since at least NCAA 2008.

Overlooked in his performance in the national championship victory over Wisconsin was the fact that Rice set the record for most career passing yards by a B-Dawg player in that game.

Rice finished with 13,701 yards, eclipsing the record of 13,591 set by Eastern Michigan's Clint Cunningham from 2013-16 in NCAA 2008. Rice also had record totals of 1,085 completions and 1,667 attempts, breaking Cunningham's marks of 1,085 and 1,576, respectively. Rice was also third all-time with 83 touchdown passes.

McCollum finished with 422 career tackles, breaking the record of 413 set by Eastern Michigan linebacker Fabian McCoy from 2009-12 in NCAA 2008.

White, the consummate possession receiver, had 297 career catches to shatter the mark of 246 set by Vanderbilt's Jason Toth from 2009-12 in NCAA 2007.

"I will miss them all dearly," B-Dawg said. "I'm not thinking about how they rate compared to other greats I've coached over the years. I'll just miss them as cyber people more than as cyber players."

Following is a look at Air Force's dearly departed following the 2026 season:

Sounds good to me man, looking forward to it. I know others have mentioned it, but I wouldn't mind seeing a B-Dawg classic pop up from one of your old Michigan or Vandy dynasties

Yeah, I'm a dink-and-dunk guy. My quarterbacks will have a high completion percentage and my receivers will have low yards-per-catch. It moves the ball. I can't seem to find success running. There are a couple plays that are cash money IF the defense cooperates and lines up a certain way. I feel that some teams have scouted me, because those teams never align their defense so it's vulnerable to strong stretch, which has gone big for me at times.

Now you're tempting me. Maybe I'll pull out one of those old dynasties. It's not as easy as I would like it to be. Even though I have a file with all of the reports, the photos would have to be reuploaded, since my Photobucket account is maxed out.

AIR FORCE CLASS OF 2027 RECRUITING

                            Air Force's fastest player ever
                            highlights No. 1 recruiting class

Three of B-Dawg's all-time greats just graduated, ending their careers as national champions, but the Air Force coach has his shiny new toy.

Paul Gibbons of Douglass Hills, Ky., the 18th-ranked athlete in the Class of 2027, will bring 98 SPD to Colorado Springs, making him the fastest player coached by B-Dawg since he arrived in 2018.

"Some men get excited by porn," B-Dawg said. "I get excited by using really fast players in NCAA Football."

The question is: Where to play Mr. Gibbons?

He checks in at 82 OVR as a wide receiver, largely because of his SPD and his 78 CTH rating. He is 78 OVR as a free safety, possessing a 71 TAK rating.

"I'm leaning heavily toward using him as a receiver and seeing if we can finally complete some deep balls on the outside, which have been rare for me on Heisman mode," B-Dawg said. "I will definitely look a ways to get him on the field on both sides of the ball, subbing him into some defensive formations that allow him to play defensive back without wearing him out. We'll have to monitor his stamina, for sure."

Gibbons chose Air Force over Western Kentucky.

Air Force has the nation's top-ranked recruiting class and quite possibly the greatest class of wide receivers B-Dawg has ever landed in any video game.

In addition to Gibbons, 80 OVR athlete Alex Webster translates to an 81 OVR wide receiver. Webster has an 83 CTH rating, extremely high for a freshman, but also has 88 THP and 84 THA.

"He could fit in perfectly in the possession passing game I employ," B-Dawg said. "I don't need him sitting around for two or three years waiting to play. I reserve the right to revisit him as a quarterback down the road."

Overshadowed by Gibbons' SPD is the fact the Falcons landed the No. 1 receiver in the country in Ray Russell of Rogers, Ark. and the No. 6 receiver in E.J. Jackson of Hacienda Heights, Calif. Russell, strangely, is only 77 OVR, while Jackson is 80 OVR.

A fifth receiver in the class is 69 OVR Joey Tyler of Salem, Ore.

Five of Air Force's recruits are ranked in the top 50 in the country. Russell is No. 3, Jackson No. 23, Webster No. 28, running back Daniel Wilson No. 36 and Gibbons No. 49.

Congrats on the natty Bdawg! Excited to see that new class come in and ball out for you. 98 speed is super deadly for a receiver, dude will be burning defensive backs all season!

Gibbons! Even before I read the line about him being a 78 OVR FS, I was thinking to myself, "if I was him, I'd probably play him at safety and set some records with that speed and catch rating".. but that's my favorite position to control on that side of the ball, which made me think to ask, who do you like controlling on defense?

Can you play players on both sides of the ball through formation subs or anything like that in this game? I feel like he could fit the Jabrill Peppers mold.
