    Pittsburgh (AP)--

After a deflating start in which the Pens surrendered a soft goal to Jaromir Jagr just 25 seconds into the game and were unable to register a shot in the first 8 minutes, Jordan Staal's 6th goal of the playoffs on a rebound into a gaping net once again sparked the Pens into over-drive.

"It can't be said how much he has meant to us in this series. This team is not just about the stars, its about those secondary guys...thats where we really try to hurt our opponents", remarked head coach Mario Lemieux in regards to Staal who has tallied 6 goals in the 5 games of the series after scoring 25 goals this season.

Petr Prucha would give the Pens a short lived 2-1 lead as Sidney Crosby would tie the game just 51 ticks into the second frame beating two Ranger defensemen in the effort.

The game-winning goal would be scored midway through the 2nd period when a Ranger turnover to Miroslav Satan would spring Eric Christensen on a breakaway in which he would beat Burke 5-hole.

"The play by Miro was key there...just a great read both defensively and then to know where I was at the same time made it really special...that one was all him", said Christensen deflecting any credit whatsoever.

The Pens would cap the win with a 3rd period marker from Evgeni Malkin, sealing a 3-2 lead as the series heads back to New York for a game 6.

"We want to end this thing and get our guys some rest...the more rest you get in the playoffs...the better", said Sidney Crosby who has notched a point in 4 straght games.

don't make me scold you for bullying my rangers!!!!

If Zherdev was with them in this game, things would be a LOT different.

After all, he's the only dude on the team irl that can score over 35 points!!

Yeah...I don't what the deal was with that. But Lundqvist wasn't much better when he played stopping 36 of 44 shots.

Really, goaltending was the biggest difference in the series. The Rags was horrible while Fleury was fantastic.

Well, if Ottawa keeps up this 5 goals a game business, they will win the cup. 11 points in 4 games, seems pretty good.

I've never understood why the Rangers don't play the neutral zone trap. They have a pretty solid roster to do it too...

The Ottawa/Jersey series is gonna be the most interesting. Both teams are coming off of sweeps and both are just flat out dominating.

I'm pulling for the Sens because if I face the Devils...I'm done.

They beat me 6 out of 8 on the season.

I barely remember sean burke, so i dont really care about him. I just put in the "i suck" part because he sucked for the rangers in this dynasty.

but i HATED tom renney when he was with the rangers. Glad to see he's finally gone, and across the continent, no less!

After all, he's the only dude on the team irl that can score over 35 points!!
Yeah but Zherdev is Mr. Invisible when it counts, see this year's playoffs.

Nice series win & nice to see Atlanta following the model of their playoff sucking in NHL 2k8 which followed the embarassing 07 effort...you know the 1 playoff they've been to in reality

I'd be glad to see you face the devils, though. If you're going to destroy my favorite team, you might as well beat my other favorite team, haha.
The devils are so hard for me...its rare that i score more than 2 goals against them. Brodeur is the man and their D clears the crease so well, it makes it hard to go for dirty rebound goals. So...GO OTTAWA!!!

Yeah...Kovalchuk just collapsed after his 73 goal season. After the first 3 games of the series, he was like -10. I didn't check where he ended up.
