The Thanksgiving feast was so far pretty fun, and the awkwardness was gone.
“So how much you get paid? 20, 30 mil?” asked Reggie.
“Yea, I wish. Us hockey players don’t get paid that much. I only have a three year, two million dollar contract. That’s $666, 666 a year.”
“Ya know, I did some research and I saw that rookies can only get paid like less than a million,” said Brody Jenner. “What’s the deal with that?”
“Well, there’s a bunch of people I got together with and planned something. We planned to go into the Draft in 2007, but not signing with any teams, denying their contracts. We then waited until the first regular season game, and then signed with Canadian Hockey League teams. We played the rest of the year with our CHL teams, and then re entered into the Draft. Since we technically didn’t play any games last season, we could be in this year’s draft. We did the same exact thing that we did the year before, except we approached our favorite teams and asked for contracts. They offered us league minimum, and we declined. They went on to tell us that rookies can only get the minimum, and we retorted with that technically we’re not all rookies. So there was this big controversy with us and the NHL, and the final verdict was that we’re not rookies, but this will be our rookie year. So, we got what we wanted, and cheated the system. We called this whole thing ‘Operation Deny.’”
“Wow, that’s a great story,” Kendall said. I think she has a crush on me.
“Thank you. You must be pretty smart since you understood all of that,” I said nicely. She smiled very bigly and blushed.
“Ha, you’re pretty smart man,” said Reggie. I smiled and silently thanked him.
“Wow, you are smart. I like smart men,” Kourtney said (weird?) seductively.
“Ah, well he’s taken sorry,” Casey said while grabbing my hand to hold it. Everyone kind of looked around at each other with wide eyes, then looked back down all at once. Kourtney realized she shouldn’t have said that, and didn’t speak the rest of the day.
“Well, this has been all great and everything, but I got to get going, I have a game tonight in Canada.”
“Oh well thank you for coming, having you here was fun,” Kris said.
“It was nice meeting you Joshua. Be good to my daughter now,” Bruce said. Everyone else made their goodbyes and I hugged and shook everyone’s hands.
“Bye! Come back soon!” Kylie yelled as I left.Go Saints.Comment
