Re: The Next Kipper NHL 10 BAP
2009 NHL-Draft Player Bios
Tonight we are focusing on Finnish goalie Mikko Holopainen
Holopainen is 6-1 tall and he is 184lbs heavy. He is from Kuopio and he played 13 games in Finnish elite league SM-Liiga. His stats from the season were 5 wins, 5 losses and 3 overtime losses, his Goal Against Average was 2,98 and his Save percentage was 90,12%. He also played in the U18 World Championship with Finland as they got the bronze medal. He played five games with GAA of 2,13 and with a Save percentage of 93,25%. He is told to be the next Miikka Kiprusoff or the next Nicklas Backstrom. NHL Central Scouting said that he would be in the top 10. Yhis is what NHL Central Scouting's European Division leader Goran Stubb said about Holopainen: ''He is very talented and fast, but he needs to improve his stick-work.''
Holopainen played the Prospects game with the World Prospects which they won against the North American Juniors 3-2. Holopainen made 16 saves, but he couldn't do nothing on the two goals that the Juniors scored, they both were redirected from a shot from the point, but in the last minute he showed his reflexes when he stopped Stephan Leclaire's slapshot from 5 feets away. Holopainen will be one of the hottest player on the draft that's for sure and propably the best goalie and the best Finn in the draft.I'm a finn so don't be surprised if I spell words wrong.Comment

Re: The Next Kipper NHL 10 BAP
Now that the first five picks are gone we take a look at the players who got drafted with the first five picks. We talk about their changes to become a star in the NHL.
1st Pick: Fedor Obsut C from
.
Obsut is not like Evgeni Malkin or Sergei Fedorov. Malkin and Fedorov are better passers than Obsut, but Obsut has got a better shot than them. He needs to improve his skating and physical play if he wants to become a star.
NHL Comparable: Steven Stamkos
Prediction on his first season: 48 Games, 14 Goals and 18 Assists
2nd Pick: Stephan Leclaire C from
.
Leclaire and Obsut are have the same playing style which is scoring goals and taking shots from good areas. He needs to improve his defensive abilities and his slap shot accuracy needs work. But otherwise he is pretty good player.
NHL Comparable: Sidney Crosby
Prediction on his first season: 82 Games, 34 Goals and 20 Assists
3rd Pick: Trevor Pollock C from
.
Pollock is a great playmaker and he is big too, his passes seem to find his teammates tape every time. But he needs to improve his skating, shooting and shot blocking. He will become a star in couple of years.
NHL Comparable: Mikko Koivu
Prediction on his first season: 68 Games, 8 Goals and 38 Assists
4th Pick: Michael Phillips C from
.
Phillips is very small, but what he loses in size he wins back in passing and skating. He isn't the first guy to come to help defensemans in their own zone, and his hitting needs to improve a lot. He will be in the third line in couple of years.
NHL Comparable: Paul Kariya
Prediction on his first season: 29 Games, 12 Goals and 14 Assists
5th Pick: Mikko Holopainen G from
.
Holopainen is very solid goalie and he has got a great glove hand, he is also very fast in the crease and he is quite big too. He isn't the best puck-handler or the best to stop re-directs He sometimes overplays some of the situations.
NHL Comparable: Miikka Kiprusoff
Prediction on his first season: 21 Games, 2,50 GAA, 89,12% SV% 2 ShutoutsI'm a finn so don't be surprised if I spell words wrong.Comment

Re: The Next Kipper NHL 10 BAP
Mikko Holopainen who was drafted last week has agreed the terms with Atlanta Trashers, his contract will be a entry level deal with 850 000$. He will join them when they start the training camp and GM Don Waddel said that he will be the future number one goalie for them, he will start the season with the Thrashers in the NHL, but he might be sent to AHL if he doesn't play well in NHLI'm a finn so don't be surprised if I spell words wrong.Comment

Re: The Next Kipper NHL 10 BAP
1st Period started with two Atlanta penalties that they handled well. There was a couple of changes that could have ended in he net, but Mikko Holopainen was wall in front of them. Then Pavel Kubina got a penalty for slashing and Lecavalier managed to score when the puck went through the five-hole of Holopainen. Later in the period Thrashers got the hang of the game and they finally had some good changes in the last minutes of the period.
2nd Period gaved us two goals. First Evander Kane scored his first NHL-goal and later Alex Tanguay scored to make it 2-1 for the Bolts. Tampa's goalie Mike Smith had to work much more than Mikko Holopainen in the pther end of the period, but still Ligtning had the best change to score, when Dustin Brown had the open net but he hitted the crossbar.
3rd Period was a thriller when Zach Bogosian scored with a slapshot and then only 21 seconds later Jason Krog putted the Trashers in the lead for the first time in the game with a wrist shot. When there was only a couple of minutes left Thrashers defenseman Ron Hainsey scored an own-goal and the game was tied again. But in the last minute Nik Antropov scored with a wrister with only 10,5 seconds remaining in the clock. The best save of the game was seen in the half way of the period when Lecavalier shooted a wrist shot from a couple of feets away from Holopainen who overplayed the situation at first but still managed to make a beautiful glove save.

Re: The Next Kipper NHL 10 BAP
The first period started with Mike Comrie's game misconduct call because of slashing Johnny Oduya and he injured on the slash. Ron Hainsey scored his first goal of the season in that power play, apart from that there were no other good changes in the period, Ottawa took 17 penalty minutes in the period.
In the second period Ottawa was just dominating in the shot department, but they couldn't score, thanks to Mikko Holopainen who made 13 saves in the period and Brian Elliot survived with only 5 saves, Holopainen was in trouble sometimes but still the puck seemed to hit him.
The third period was quite the same as the first period, but Ottawa didn't shoot as much. Daniel Alfredsson got a slashing penalty, but it wasn't Atlanta that scored, Nick Foligno managed to carry the puck to Atlanta's defensive zone and he wristed the puck to the net, it went in after hitting the post.
In overtime Mike Fisher scored with only 0,9 seconds remaining on the clock, it was a complete disaster when first Tobias Enstrom lost the puck to Alexei Kovalev who shooted the puck and Fisher scored from the rebound and Holopainen couldn't do anything to stop it.
Scoring Summary:
1st Period:
6:00 1-0 Ron Hainsey (1) (White-Enstrom) PP
