Here is a transcript of a recent Edmonton Daily News interview with Edmonton Oilers prospect Cleveland Steamer:
Reporter: With the excess in goalies in the Oilers' franchise, you'll be spending one last season in the WHL. How does that make you feel?
Steamer: While I don't agree with the situation, it is what it is. Management has informed me they have a specific timeline set for me, and that entails spending one more year in Seattle. I'll just have to keep my head up and see what the future holds.
Reporter: Does it upset you at all to see both the NHL and AHL teams struggling when you so badly want to be apart of one of those teams?
Steamer: I can't worry too much about other teams, I can only worry about the team I'm on. And as of now that's the Seattle Thunderbirds. Last year we missed the playoffs for a fourth straight year and I really want to get us back there before reaching the pros.
Reporter: Some in Edmonton have called you arrogant and rude for you countless rants about how bad the franchise is. Does it bother you the fans aren't welcoming you with open arms?
Steamer: I imagine the frustration in Edmonton has more to do with the performance of their team than anything else. I'll tell you one thing: the 1 thing I'm looking forward to most is going to that huge mall in town.
Reporter: Most of the young talent on the Oilers' roster such as Jordan Eberle and Taylor Hall have expressed concern about your attitude and work ethic. What do you say to that?
Steamer: What they say doesn't bother me. If they have something to say they can come to Seattle and I'll talk with them
