Re: Seb170455's Moose Jaw Mustangs Dynasty (2nd attempt)

GM Jo Loonstra and headcoach Maus Jansen decided that the Mustangs lacked toughness, and that Portland had too many untalented players that prohibit the young talented players from growing. The following trades should help us.

    To NSH: C A. Miele 72 C
    To MJM: RW B. McGrattan (79 C) and 2012 4th round pick.

This trade got us one of the toughest players in the league and a 4th round pick.

    To ANA: C B. Hextall and C B. Trotter
To MJM: 2012 - 5th round pick (ANA)

This trade makes room in Portland. Center Werek (72 B-B-B-) will have more playing time and we get another pick.

Re: Seb170455's Moose Jaw Mustangs Dynasty (2nd attempt)

          CBC SPORTS

Today we had an interview with the headcoach of the Moose Jaw Mustangs, Maus Jansen. He has been the captain fo the Mustangs ship for ten games now. He has been on a succesful ride so far. We wanted to ask him what his first ten games were like for him and the team.

Mr. Jansen, are you satisfied at this moment as coach of the Mustangs?

Yes, I'm very satisfied. When a new franchise like the Mustangs is born, there always be troubles. You can not always see what's ahead. Do the team have any chemistry with their new hometown or home rink? The players all have their own views on the events, which went very fast this last summer, when they had to leave Phoenix to go to Moose Jaw. Are they motivated out here? They get a new GM and a new headcoach. Do they want to fight for me and Jo (Loonstra)?
They did. We did pretty well. We lost the home opener to Winnipeg, but we won 8 out of 10. That is pretty great and it exceeds all of my and I think all of your expectations.

Do you like the way your team is playing this moment and are they going in the correct direction for the future?

I like the way we are playing at this moment. You want to win and get good results and we want to play great hockey for our fans.

How are your players doing for themselves?

I am satisfied with all of my players and hope they will grow in the near future. Shane Doan has done great till now. He has been our captain and leads by example. He has scored 8 goals and had 3 assists. He's our topscorer right now. He has had his first ever hattrick and scored his 300th careergoal this season. Shane has been there all the way for us.
Gilbert Brule passed really well this season, and had 8 assists. He is one of the reasons Doan has done this well. He scored only twice, but that will be better. The 1st line does really well. I would like more out of Bergfors. But he will pick up the pace I think.
The 2nd line has done really good also. Hanzal (8 pts), Whitney (6 pts) and Vrbata (6 pts) have, I think, 20 points or so. Their chemistry is really good and they also have a great forecheck.
The 3rd line had some trouble. The chemistry is not there yet. Their forecheck is good, but it hasn't paid off yet. Torres has not been impressive yet. I have real high expections of him, and I'm sure he'll do better. Lars Eller does have good games. He works hard, wins face-offs and battles all over the ice. His hard work will pay off eventually. I have great trust in his abilities.
The 4th line has done good so far. Boedker had 3 points and Chipchura does well on this line. McGrattan must adjust to our game and even lost a scrap, but he'll do what he can to help our team. I still like the acquisition of McGrattan.
Our defense is doing well in shutting down the opposition. 13 goals against is great. 1ht in the NHL is something I am proud of. Yandle is the only player that does not have the numbers he is used to, but he still is our leader in defense. The 3th line of defense Zoë and Emelin doing a good job. They both are hard hitting defensemen, and both have 3 points.

          What about goaltending?

Anders Linback has been superb for us. GAA 1.18 and .943 SV% are very good numbers and there have not been any indications that he will stumble. He has given us the great goaltending that we expected of him. Turco has not played yet, but game 12 will be his time to step in. Turco is helping Lindback in every way he can. Lindback settled in quite well with the help and good tutoring of Marty.

Do you have changes in the Powerplay or Penalty kill for the future?

We take too many penalties. The PK does well, but has too much work. It takes too much effort. The Powerplay does well, but we did not have too many tries yet. 40 percent at the end of the season would be great. The D-men do a good job in scoring from the blue line in the PP.

Are there any changes in your roster in the near future?

No, we have a good squad and we'll like the roster. Maybe we will shuffle some names, but at this moment we are satisfied with our team. When a exceptional good opportunity to add a good acquisition comes along we'll take it. We have cap space, so it could be a possibility. But we'll probably keep this team together.

Thanks for your time. Good luck the next game against Winnipeg.

Okay, I'll see you next time and I can't wait till next game. I want to beat Winnipeg. They ruined our grand opening game.

Great win against Montreal (my own Habs). Lindback has his 3th shut out this season. We had too many penalties. In the beginning of the 2nd period, our captain Doan had a major penalty and a game misconduct.

A difficult win. Lars Eller finally found the net. Pyatt has his first point. I was planning on putting Torres in for Pyatt, but now he will have another go. Against Toronto we want to win!!!

We beat Toronto. We had the best chances and deserved the win. Our PP is very shaky. Even on a 5 on 3 we couldn't score, even with a not so great Reimer this game.

Lost to Philly. The 1st period killed us. We got back in the game, but could not get even. Philadelphia is tied for 1st place in the NHL and we are 3th in the NHL.

                                Update (23 games played)

After 19 games or so, I have been trying some slider changes. The games were getting to easy. The scores were not that big, but losing was not going to happen. I made more difficult, and it became more fun. Last four games it was 2-2-0. Losing 5-1 to Ananheim and winning 8-2 over Chicago. I'm going to do a 23 game update (strange number, I know).
