Dutch NOS Studio Sport reporter Ellen Hoog (Dutch grass hockey Olympic champion) made her first trip to Canada to visit 3rd line Mustangs winger Taylor Pyatt in Moose Jaw. The Mustangs are getting ready to make a 2 game road trip to end the season.
Ellen: Congratulations on making it to the playoffs. What is your feeling on making it?
Taylor: It is an incredible feeling. We made to the playoffs the last couple of years in Phoenix. But to do that in front of a brand new crowd here Moose Jaw was fantastic. Our Mustang fans are great whole year long and they deserve the playoffs. We are excited to be there. We still have 2 games to play, but it will be great.
Ellen: Was it hard to get there?
Taylor: It started out great, but than we got of to a losing streak. After 10 games we got it together and it was lose/win/lose/win. After the great first half of the season it should not have been this hard. Minnesota was kind enough to get us there. They lost enough, so that we could get in. We wanted to win the division, but Anaheim and San Jose beat us everytime.
Ellen: What are your predictions for the playoffs?
Taylor: First let us try to win those last 2 games on the road(@St.Louis and Minnesota). After those games we know our opponent in the 1st round. We are still able to move up in the standings. But if we stay 8th, we will have to play Vancouver. Vancouver has been a real pain for us. But in the playoffs you'll never know.
Ellen: Are you personally excited to play in the playoffs?
Taylor: Yeah, I am. I was a healthy scratch for a few games in the beginning of the season, but as I got futher in the season, my play got better and I started to score. I went form 4th to the 3rd line and sometimes I play on the PP. My coach said he liked how I developed over the season and how I play now. I hope to keep it and be a contributing factor for our guys in the playoffs. Coach Maus Jansen said he has a place on the roster next year for me, if I continue playing like this. I hope the times of healthy scratch are over.
Ellen: Thanks Taylor. Good luck!
