With Fedoruk on the 4th line and Torres on the first for Doan, we went down against Calgary. The Flames had the 2-0 just before the end of the 2nd period. I guess that was it for Lindback and the rest. Kiprusoff and Lindback were great the first 30 minutes. Pyatt scored again. I was thinking of trading him in the beginning of the season. I'm glad I haven't done it.

24 februari 2012: The trade deadline is approaching. Teams are trying to make the best of what they have or trade. A big trade occured tonight.

Philadelpia acquire A. Stewart (C), B. Sutter (C) and 2012 1th round pick (CAR) from Carolina, who got back W. Simmonds (RW), H. Zolnierczyk (RW) and 2012 4th round pick.

Entertaining game for the fans, not for the goaltenders. Lindback and Khabibulin were shaky. Pyatt was on fire again almost having the hattrick ( one shot hit post and crossbar). 5-5 and 5 seconds to play in the 3th period. A late check from Fedoruk in his 2 point game was penalized with a boarding penalty. In OT Taylor Hall had an open shot. Laindback should have had it, but he didn't.

The Moose Jaw Times:

It's sunday night and we are only 3 days seperated from the trade deadline. Everybody who has the Mustangs on their mind, is wondering what GM Loonstra is going to be doing in the last few days. Is he going to stay quiet or will he make a push for a big trade?

What's the situation. Moose Jaw are 2th in the Western Conference with 75 points. At 9th place Minnesota has 64 points. I think you may say that the Mustangs will make the playoffs. They are 7 points ahead of Anaheim in their division. The Mustangs are in a comfortable spot. GM Loonstra said that he didn't anticipate a playoff spot yet. The Mustangs cherrish this, but will not make trades to hold on to this spot. Moose Jaw wants to slowly rebuild.

What are the trading options for Loonstra? He has captain Doan on the block. Only in case of a blockbuster deal will he let Doan leave. If he stays Loonstra will try to hold Doan in Moose Jaw next year. Oduya is a UFA next season, maybe there is chance he leaves.

But the chances are big GM Loonstra will keep quiet. He is not selling or buying he said yesterday. We'll see.

PHI picked up Brian Sutherby (C) off waivers.

28-2-2012 Trade Deadline:

CHI acquired 2012 1th round pick, M.Hanzus (C) and 2 others.
SJ acquired D.Carcillo (LW), S.Montador (D), S.Lepisto (D).

GM Loonstra:

We are proud to announce we made 2 trades at the deadline. Many teams approched us. Doan was never in any trade talks.

The first trade was with Calgary.

To CAL: M.Turco (G, 82 C)
To MJM: T.J. Brodie (OFD, 74 B- B- B-)

Calgary wanted Vrbata and Turco (he was on the block). First we tried to get Iginla for Vrbata. Calgary declined. Then they came up with wanting Vrbata and Turco. We gave them Turco and got Brodie a young prospect. We think we got the best in this trade.

The second trade was with Colorado.

To COL: C.Gillies (LW) and B.McGrattan (RW)
To MJM: J.Hishon (C, PLY, 73 B- B- B-, 2010 1 round (17) pick COL)
and a 2012 4th round pick (COL).

They came to us 3 times. They wanted McGrattan all of those times. But they wanted more than McGrattan and did not want to give anything in return. They came the third time wanting Gillies, who only an upgrade of the AHL roster (waiver pick up) and McGrattan, who is a great fighter but expendible. They wanted to give us Winnik, but we got a great Hishon. The former 1th round pick is a great pick up for the future.

We wanted nothing and got 2 great prospects. We at Moose Jaw satisfied right now. Let's see what the future brings.

Other teams wanted McGrattan, and foor me he was expendible. So this was a nive opportunity to pick up some prospects. And the CPU does not always make sense!
