Top Prospect Dean Makes OHL Debut

London -- London Knights forward Brandon Dean made his OHL debut last night in a 6-4 win against the Saginaw Spirit. The 6'0" 16 year old forward is expected to go first overall in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. Dean, who played on the third line last night, had an assist in his Knights debut. The Knights' fans were treated to a very good game that saw the Knights break the 4-4 tie in the last 10 minutes of play in the third period. When we asked Dale Hunter about his opinion on Brandon Dean, he said

He has a very good shot and good, soft hands. He did a great job for us tonight and contributed to getting us that winning goal that we needed tonight. The kid has a very bright future as a hockey player. My opinion is that he a true sniper and will make 99% of the good opportunities that he finds in a game.

Dean Picks Up First Goal and Fight in Knights Win

London -- Brandon Dean must be feeling better than he was last night right now. The CHL's top prospect scored twice in London's win against the Guelph Storm in a night full of firsts.

Dean picked up his first goal just one game after he recorded his first OHL assist. Dean put a wrist shot in the top right corner of the net right above the Storm goalie's glove at the 7:57 point in the first period and repeated the feat on the blocker side of the Storm goalie just 5 minutes and 47 seconds into the second period. The 16 year old rookie now has 2 goals and a total of 3 points in just two games in the OHL. When asked what if felt like to score his first goal, he said

Its a great feeling. To get that burden off your shoulders is relieving too. Overall, it was a great night.

He also picked up his first OHL fight when he dropped the gloves with Tyler Carroll on his first shift. Surprisingly enough, he actually won the fight against the much taller and larger defenseman. This helped him pick up his first penalty minutes. Not a stat that he really wants to have

Its not a stat that I take pride to like some other players do. I look into the plus-minus ratings and the points, goals, and assists. Penalty minutes are the things that hurt you and your team.

Dean played on the third line for the second game in a row and was named the first star of the game with 2 goals and one assist.

London -- Brandon Dean seems to be getting comfortable in a London Knights jersey. The 16 year old winger scored for the 3rd time in 2 games last night and led the Knights to a 4-2 victory over the Sudbury Wolves. The Knights remain undefeated to begin the season. They travel to Plymouth to play the Plymouth Whalers tomorrow.
