    The Devils Climbing To Greatness

Just days before the start off the 2013-2014 preseason the hockey world is shocked as long time general manager of the New Jersey Devils Lou Lamoriello announces he is stepping down at GM and names his replacement.

His replacement is a little confusing as he names former goaltender Martin Biron as his replacement.

    Quotes from Lou:

"After so many years wheeling and dealing it is time for me to step back and look towards the future of this franchise"

"Martin doesn't have any experience in the front office but I believe he has all the capabilities of being a great general manager in this league.

    Quotes from Martin:

"This team has the makings of a cup contender this year and I will not be afraid to make moves to help this team win now."

"Having no experience obviously means there will be a bit of a learning curve but there are a lot of great people in this organization to learn from."

"I will take the first little bit of the season to evaluate every player on the team and make changes where I see needed."

Devils Find the net plenty in season opener against Pens
Elias scores hat trick, ruutu and zajac 3 assists each

In what was a very back and forth game early, the Devils pulled away late and capped it off with Patrick Elias scoring an empty netter to complete the hat trick, as Brodeur picks up first win of the year. But some bad news as after the game news gets out that Tuomo Ruutu will miss the next game with concussion like symptoms, Tedenby draws into lineup.

Isles score early in 3rd and hold on to beat Devils
Tavares and Okposo both have big nights.

The atmosphere was great for the Devils home opener but the Devils fall to the Islanders 3-2 after a 3rd period goal by Kyle Okposo capping off a great offense night for the young forward. New Jersey loses Pelley to a broken leg expected out till christmas which gives Gionta his chance to play. Schneider not happy after losing his first start
