A very quiet game went to overtime where defenseman Andy Greene scored the game winner to give the Devils the 2-1 win over the Jackets. Iginla made his Devils debut, not getting a point but he finished a +1 and had 4 shots on net.

Devils lose in OT on Long Island
Okposo scores hat trick in 5-4 win

The Devils were down 2-1 going into the third and scored 3 in the third frame but gave up 2 to push the game to OT where Kyle Okpose scored the OT winner to complete the natural hat trick at home. A positive note for the Devils though as Jarome Iginla scored his first goal as a Devil.

Iginla scores 2nd as a Devil

Analysis:
After New Jersey acquired Jarome Iginla rumors rose about possibly seeing Ruutu getting dealt, after he was pushed to 3rd line minutes the rumors picked up even more. This deal looks early like a win for New Jersey as they acquire a solid defenseman, and a future 1st round pick, and get out from under the length of contract Ruutu has left aswell as free up a little cap space.

Analysis:
A move that seemed a little surprising at first but New Jersey traded young prospect Severson who a lot of scouts are high on, for another young defenseman that is a little further along in development Ryan Ellis. Clearly wanting to improve their Defensive play immediately only time will tell which D-man will be the better player.

After the trade with Nashville the Devils were forced to put Bryce Salvador on waivers where he was quickly scooped up by the Bruins.

Meszaros a minus 3 in Devils debut

Devils fans are not happy as they see their team let in 5 goals after what seemed like a trade deadline that improved the teams defensive squad. Fans can only hope this is just a small blip as the new team mates get use to each other.

Staal brothers combine for 4 points in 4-2 win

The Hurricanes seemed to own the puck as they spent a good majority of the game in the Devils end, putting 4 goals past Brodeur and get a great goaltending performance from Khudobin.

Rask plays great in win

The Bruins scored 3 goals in the first period then just shut the door to come away with the 3-0 win against the Devils in New Jersey. Iginla showed some passion as he tried to get the Devils going by fighting former teammate Mcquaid.

The Devils came back after being down 2-0 in the third to send the game to overtime but just didn't have enough in the tank as the Leafs managed to get the goal to leave New Jersey with the 2 points.

This game was over early as the Coyotes scored 5 straight goals and the Devils could only answer with one. Even a worse sign of how this team is going as fans started leaving the arena after the 2nd period. Devils need to do something to turn things around.

DEVILS MAKE THE PLAYOFFS!!!

After a season full of ups and downs, and looking late like they were going to miss the playoffs, the New Jersey Devils put together an impressive run to end the season and get into the playoffs. The Devils went 6-2 to end the season, and makes a lot of fans and some analysts wonder if this team is getting hot at the right time and if they could do some damage once the playoffs start.
