    Rebuilding Broad Street(NHL15 PS4)

Posting this here and on DynastyNation so here goes.

I want to get this going so here goes. I've created Shayne Gostisbe(h)re (Stupid EA and it's 11 char limit) he is a 73 OFD with Med Top 4 Potential. I was going to make a few US prospects(Jack Eichel, mainly) but we cannot create prospects. Not a game killer, though it does suck.

    BAGM RULES
    - I have to follow the NTC/NMC the Flyers currently have, this is to prevent me from trading the crap contracts from day 1. Currently CAPGEEK.Com has the following players with NTC/NMC

    Lecavalier - NMC
Giroux - NMC(Though I have 0 interest in dealing him away)
    Simmonds - Modified NTC
    Umberger - Modified NTC
    Coburn - Modified NTC
    Grossmann - Modified NTC
    Luke Schenn - Modified NTC

*Those with modified I'm going with they have a 5-10 team list(For this Playoff teams) that I can trade to*

    - I have to make trades as far as possible(I've been able to swindle the CPU in test runs, though this was on normal difficulty)

    BAGM SETUP
    -25 Years
    -Trade Difficulty: Hard
    -Authentic Cap Penalties
    -Draft Pick Ownership: Authentic
    -Difficulty: All-Star
    -Sliders: Based off AlTito's Sliders(OS)
    -Waivers: On

    PHILADELPHIA FLYERS 2014-15 SEASON PREVIEW

    2013-14 record: 42-30-10

Acquisitions: Ryan White, Michael Del Zotto, Nick Schultz, Zack Stortini, Andrew Gordon, Blair Jones, R.J. Umberger

Departures: Adam Hall, Ben Holmstrom, Kris Newbury, Steve Downie, The McGinn, Scott Hartnell, Kimmo Timonen(Retired)

Boom, Bust and Bottom Line: The best, worst and most likely scenario

Boom: Once Claude Giroux got on track last season, the Flyers were mint. He had just seven points in the first 15 games – none of them goals – and the Flyers went 5-9-1. Beginning with his tally in a win over Edmonton, Giroux steered his troops to a 37-21-9 record the rest of the way.

Jakub Voracek and Wayne Simmonds both shattered their previous career-highs for points, and there’s no reason to believe they will falter in 2014-15. Sean Couturier and Matt Read continue to grow as two-way players who can take on tough defensive assignments (despite their relative youth) and drive possession in the right direction while also contributing heavily to an effective penalty kill. Read even ranked third in the NHL with four shorthanded goals. Look for Brayden Schenn to post career numbers if he can find a comfortable spot in the lineup after bouncing between wing and center to accomadate Vincent Lecavalier.

In net, Steve Mason was a rock when the Flyers needed him, especially early on when the offense sputtered. If he’s truly found his form again, Philadelphia can make a push for home-ice advantage, which they could have used in Round 1 against the Rangers.

Bust: The blueline went from metaphorically tragic to almost actually tragic this summer when Kimmo Timonen was treated in Finland for blood clots in his right leg and both lungs. He had to make the tough choice to hang up his skates and without Timonen, a lot of pressure will be put on Braydon Coburn and Mark Streit to keep the Flyers above water. Andrew MacDonald will be leaned on heavily and with the expectations building after he signed a huge contract he needs to prove that he is worth the cost.

To help them out, Philly brought in Michael Del Zotto, who had been shunned by the Nashville Predators, but he comes with question marks. Streit and Del Zotto will be the only offensive options from the back end unless rookie Shayne Gostisbehere lands a job. The Flyers also made a confounding trade with Columbus, acquiring R.J. Umberger for Scott Hartnell, losing a fan favorite and better scorer in the process.

If last season was another one-year wonder for Mason, the Flyers will be trouble. With the exception of Carolina, every team that finished below them in the Metro improved.

Bottom Line: A weak ‘D’ makes it tough for the Flyers to string together another hot run as they did last season. Timonen is the X-factor. Tomas Fleischmann has dealt with blood clots in Florida and is fine, yet Tomas Vokoun missed the entire regular season with Pittsburgh due to the same affliction. The Flyers were a below-average possession team, and the loss of Timonen and Hartnell hurts that metric even more. Don’t bet on another post-season appearance.

Prospect To Watch: Scott Laughton, the 20th overall pick from 2012, is coming off a 40-goal, 87-point season with the OHL’s Oshawa Generals and has a chance to make this team. There’s a possible opening at center for the 20-year-old to win with a good showing in camp. Laughton got a taste of professional life two years ago, when he spent five scoreless games with the Flyers, but managed to get three points in six games with the AHL’s Adirondack Phantoms. He’s grown as a player since then and was captain of Canada’s WJC team last winter.

THN’s Prediction for 2014-14: Fifth in the Metro Division

Matt Read's Late SHG Leads Flyers to 3-2 Victory

      --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
      Dynasty Date: Oct 8, 2014

The Philadelphia Flyers started their 2014/15 campaign in dramatic fashion with a 3-2 victory in Boston thanks to a shorthanded goal by Matt Read. With Luke Schenn in the box after a hooking call, Sean Couturier stripped Dennis Seidenberg of the puck and found Matt Read in the high slot, where Read fired a one-timer past Tuuka Rask's outstretched glove with 13 seconds left to give the Flyers their 1st win of the season.

The season opener for both teams was a spirited affair and both teams played with something to prove. The teams traded chances but the goalies were up to the challenge, until midway through the 2nd. Milan Lucic was sent to the box for running into Flyers goalie Steve Mason and the Flyers made the Bruins pay. Claude Giroux managed to dig the puck out of the corner and found a wide open Wayne Simmonds for an easy tap in and a 1-0 Flyers lead. Brad Marchand, who had fought Ryan White early in the first, managed to get his stick on the puck during a scrum in front to tie it late in the 2nd, but it wouldn't last long as Jake Voracek picked off a clearing attempt by Torey Krug and fired a laser over Rask's shoulder with a minute left in the 2nd.

After Brayden Schenn took an interference call and with the Flyers under a delayed call, Torey Krug managed to keep the puck onsides, much to the disagreement from Craig Berube, and fired a shot that deflected off Braydon Coburn and past Steve Mason that tied the game at 2-2. "The puck was clearly offsides. It's disappointing that the linesman missed the call, but thankfully it didn't cost us the game." Coach Craig Berube told the media during the post-game press conference.

4-Goal Third Period Leads to 2nd Straight Win for Flyers

Undisiplined play put the Flyers behind the 8-ball early as the New Jersey Devils shot out to a 2-0 lead on goals by Martin Havlat and Adam Henrique. The Flyers quickly upped the pressure and peppered Devils goalie Cory Schneider with shot after shot, but the young goalie kept the wall up until midway through the third period when Jake Voracek beat Schneider on a bad angled shot while the Flyers were on the powerplay. Flyers Captain Claude Giroux quickly tied the game on the ensuing face-off sending a laser over Schneider's shoulder. Devils' Ryan Clowe managed to deflect a puck past Ray Emery shortly after to regain the lead, but a few minutes later he was called on slashing call that allowed Vincent Lecavalier to score to tie the game up again. Newly appointed Assistant Captain Wayne Simmonds send the Philly faithful into a frenzy when he found the puck on his stick and quickly wired a shot under Schneider's glove after a clutch penalty kill by the Flyers. The 2-0-0 Flyers now await the Montreal Canadiens on the 11th.

Claude Giroux's 4-Goal Night Continues Flyers Run

It's rare for a player to score four goals, but that's what Claude Giroux did last night as he had a career night scoring four times including three straight as the Flyers(3-0-0) defeated the Montreal Canadiens(2-1-0) 5-1. "It's unbelieveable. I was just feeling it tonight, I must have done something to please the "Hockey Gods". Claude Giroux told the media. Wayne Simmonds started thing off for Philadelphia when he picked off an errant Alexei Emelin pass, skated in and roofed one past Carey Price. While on the powerplay Claude Giroux, using PK Subban as a screen fired a laser into the back of the net. But the young captain wasn't done, on the Flyers 2nd powerplay of the night, Giroux dug the puck out of the corner, avoided a hit and snuck his way into the slot for his 2nd goal. With the Flyers on a delayed call Giroux and Voracek executed a perfect give-and-go that fooled the Montreal D and chased Carey Price out of the net for the Hat Trick(AND NO HATS). Brendan Gallagher managed to bring Montreal to within 3, but it was too little too late. Giroux would then score his 4th of the night while on the penalty kill when Luke Schenn found him breaking between the Canadien defense after Schenn broke up a pass in the slot Giroux wouldn't miss as he buried past Peter Budaj with seconds left in the game.

Flyers Lose 1st Game of Season, 2-1

Wayne Simmonds Skates off the ice holding his face after a Corey Perry hit

Special Teams can usually make or break a team's chances of winning and that's exactly what happened last night. The Flyers squandered four powerplay including a 5-on-3 en route to a 2-1 loss to the Anaheim Ducks. Ducks Goalie John Gibson had an amazing game, stopping 29 shots to give the Ducks a chance at winning. "It was unreal. I saw the puck really well and the team really cleared the way for me." Gibson told the media. Corey Perry started things off for Anaheim with a fantastic tic-tac-toe passing play from Heatley and Getzlaf that just squeaked under Steve Mason's pad mid-way through the 1st. The Flyers tried to beat Gibson, but the young netminder refused to yield. Ryan Kesler gave his team a 2-0 lead after Ben Lovejoy knocked Andrew MacDonald off the puck and found Jakob Silverberg at the redline. Silverberg drew Mark Streit to him and managed to thread a pass to Ryan Kesler who shot it under Mason's glove. Jake Voracek brought the Flyers to within one with a deflection, but the Flyers couldn't solve Gibson after that. A scary moment for the Flyers as Wayne Simmonds left the ice after a brutal hit from Corey Perry. He did not return and reports are coming in that it is a facial injury and he is expected to be out for 1-2 weeks

Two Quick Goals Seal Flyers Fate

Ray Emery stretches out to rob Evgeni Malkin

Another tough loss at the hands of the Penguins along with another serious injury made last night a tough pill to swallow. The Flyers put up a tough fight, despite missing Wayne Simmonds and RJ Umberger, but were unable to beat their cross-state rivals last night. Two goals in the span of under a minute were all the Penguins needed to defeat the Flyers 2-1 at the CONSOL Energy Center. Brayden Schenn gave the Flyers a 1-0 lead on the powerplay after defenseman Mark Streit was destroying by Nick Spalings. Sean Couturier attempted to go after Spaling, but Rob Scuderi intervened. Ray Emery had an outstanding night as he made several spectacular saves, but in the end he couldn't make that 22nd save. Mark Streit is reported as having a Concussion and wil be out 5 Weeks

Mike Richards Sticks Dagger in Former Team, Kings Win 3-2

Mike Richards watches as his shot goes in the net late in the third period

One defensive lapse. That was the deciding factor in the Flyers taking the defending Stanley Cup Champs to overtime and losing a tough game. Former Flyers Captain Mike Richards sent the Philly Faithful home with a bad taste in their mouths when he managed to sneak into the slot with no one covering him and fired a shot past Steve Mason with 29 seconds left. The game started off in Philadelphia's favor when RJ Umberger worked his way into the slot and fired a wrister over Jones' glove. The Flyers held that lead until Tyler Toffoli capitalized on a bouncy puck at the blueline and managed to bat his own rebound out of the air and through Mason's legs. After Vincent Lecavalier was penalized for Goalie Interference Robyn Regehr snuck a shot through a maze of legs to give the Kings a 2-1 Lead with seconds remaining in the 2nd. Third period was all Flyers as they threw everything at the Kings to tie the game. An amazing shift by Wayne Simmonds and Sean Couturier resulted in a Couturier goal to tie the game and send the stadium into a frenzy. Sadly with 30 seconds left the Flyers defenseman both chased Jeff Carter leaving Richards wide open for an easy goal.

Couturier's OT Winner Ends Winless Streak

Sean Couturier Celebrates His GWG During Last Night's 5-4 OT Win

Sean Couturier may be finally realizing his offensive potential that most people saw during his junior years that led to him being an 8th Overall selection. He not only scored the overtime winner, but also registered his 1st career Hat Trick(In the regular season) to lead the Flyers to a 5-4 Victory over Edmonton. What looked to be a blowout in the making after the Flyers shot out to a 2-0 lead just 5 minutes in, turned into a back and forth tilt that had Flyers fans on the edge of their seats. Sean Couturier and Matt Read scored a mere 36 seconds apart before Boyd Gordon made it a 2-1 game at the 17:35 mark. 2nd Period turned out to be all Edmonton as Jordan Eberle and Taylor Hall would beat Steve Mason and give the Oilers a 3-2 lead. Flyers Captain Claude Giroux would start the 3rd period off with a bang as he fired a laser over Viktor Fasth's shoulder and into the goalkeeper's water bottle. Sean Couturier would net his 2nd of the night moments later and it looked like the Flyers were going to hold, but Nail Yakupov would manage to sneak out front of the goal and beat Mason 5-hole to tie it with under two minutes. Overtime was a back and forth affair before Sean Couturier would tale the puck and use Justin Schultz as a screen before beating Fasth just over his glove hand to win the game.
