Senators Not Looking Like Best Team In The League

After the first two games of the first round Ottawa mush now head to Florida down 2-0 in the series to the Panthers. The Panthers took it straight at the Sens with an extremely aggressive game plane that they were not ready for. Panther got 3 quick goals in the first period of game one with a straight on attack and being the more physical team. The game ended 3-1

"We played them 5 times in the regular season and they always kinda rolled over to us so we were not expecting this. Just goes to show us that in the playoffs you need to adapt and figure out what wasn't working during the season." Weber told Reporters after the game.

Game 2 was much of the same as the Panthers scored the only 2 goals of the game in the first 5 minutes of the game. Panthers then kinda just played not to lose as they were more conservative.

"We need to turn it around and be the aggressive ones in there home. We are getting out shot and out hit in every game. If we can't turn that around and play with more passion we should just quit right now." Said Weber.

Senators Turn The Series Around

Game 3

Knowing that there season was slipping away they came out of the gates firing shot after shot and would out shoot Florida 19 to 4 in the first period. Ottawa found the back of the net 3 times in the first. Panthers would score a goal in both the second and third periods but it was not enough as Ottawa Won the game 3-2

Game 4 & Game 5

Ottawa showed why they were the best in the league with huge one sided victories in games 4 (5-1) and Game 5 (6-3). Again the team that was the more aggressive team in the first periods was the team that dominated and it has given Ottawa a 3-2 series Lead.

"This is the team we have been all year. We are aggressive, We will punch you in the mouth and then take your lunch money. We get scoring from every one from our first lines to our fourth. I would be surprised if with the momentum we have if we don't end this series in the next game." Karlsson told Reporters.

Its Over For the Panthers

Game 6 was a back and fourth game with Jagr putting the puck in the net first but Ottawas Semin would answer back with a goal of his own to end the first period. Period two was just a lot of hitting and a couple fights but no real shots that seemed like they would go in. Tie 1-1 going into the final period Jagr would find the net again 6 minutes into the period to give the panthers the lead and a chance to force game 7. With about 5 min left Karlsson drove in to score but quickly dished it back to Chara for a screaming one timer that probably would have broke the glass if he would have missed the net high. Tie 2-2 with 30 sec left Hoffman did the same as he was driving in on the left of the goal and dished it to Chara for another screaming one timer that found the net and gave Ottawa the series win.

If anyone gets in the way off his (Chara) slap shot there life will be in danger," Joked Karlsson after the game.

With the victory it sets up a battle of the two best teams in the Atlantic Division as the Senators face off with Tampa.

Recapping the Rest of the First Round

West
Dallas beat Colorado in 7 games
Minnesota dominated Chicago winning in 5 games

Sharks beat surprising Flames in 6 games
Kings and Predators went 7 games but in the end Kings took it.

East
Rangers beat heavy favored Penguins in game 7
Flyers took longer then most expected to win the series over the Islanders in 6 games

Lightning made quick work of Red Wings in an easy 5 games.
Senators turned it around to win last 4 games to win in 6 games.

Lightning Strike First

Game on was dominated by the Lightning as they won easily 4-0. Stamkos had all the goals as Senators had no answer for him. They really had not found an answer for him all year.

"Stamkos or should I say the Senator killer looked amazing again tonight against us. I think if you add this to the goals he scored against us in the 4 times we played early in the year he is at around 11 goals against us." Anderson Said.

Senators Get Close Win to even Series

Stamkos again scored for Tampa but he wasn't enough as Turris scored twice to get Ottawa the 2-1 Victory. First two periods didn't see any scoring but a really even game as both teams had 23 shots heading into the third. Turris opened up the scoring with a beautiful one-timer. As Hoffman has done all year he dished the pass to Turris who put it in the net. Stamkos quickly answered about a min later. "I thought this was going into overtime before Turris got a nice rebound that he put in the net. I don't know if we deserved that win but I will take it," Weber joked.

Stamkos and Bishop Again Kill Ottawa

Bishop put up a second shut out as he blanked the Senators for the second time in 3 games. Meanwhile scoring his 6th and 7th goals of the series gave Tampa the 3-0 victory and 2-1 series Lead. I don't know what to do about Stamkos. He is killing us and we can't seem to score against Tampa.

Senators On the Brink of Elimination

Tampa got yet another win to take a 3-1 series lead when Stamkos found the net to get the overtime win. The game ended 3-2 and pushes Ottawa one game from being knocked out of the playoffs. Senators scored the only 2 goals of the game heading into the third period. Then it all collapsed for Ottawa as they stopped doing what they had all game and focused to much attention on stopping Stamkos. With all the attention on Steven he was able to find his teammate Ondrej Palat for two late goals to force overtime. Ottawa tried to go back to playing defense like the first two periods but backed off a little two much on Stamkos and he scored on a breakaway goal three minutes into OT.

Senators FINALLY find Answer for Stamkos

For I believe the first time all season Stamkos did not score a goal in the game and Ottawa was able to get that balanced offence back as 4 different players scored goals. It was over by the end of the second period as Ottawa had a 4-1 lead going into the third. Hedman would get a late goal to make the final 4-2.

Injury In Game 6 Could turn series around

Ottawa scored a quick goal in the first minute of the game by Semin. Halfway through the first Stamkos was taking the pluck down the ice along the boards when he was slammed into the wall by CHARA. Stamkos not getting up and holding his shoulder he was helped off the ice and back to the locker room. "No i don't think it was a dirty hit or anything. It was just a bigger guy doing his job and unfortunately the force and the landing hurt my shoulder. I have no i'll will towards Chara. Its the risk we take when we suit up," Stamkos said after the game. He also said that it looks like his season is over as the initial reports has team doctor thinking its a fractured shoulder. After Stamkos injury it was all one sided as Ottawa would win the game 4-2 again.

Senators Storm Back from being down 3-1 to Win game 7

With no Stamkos the Lightning can't get any offense going and falling to the Senators 4-2 in game 7. The deciding factor on the series was when Stamkos got hurt and the Lightning couldn't get any offense going. Turris and Hoffman each scored two goals in the series clinching win.
