Nice goal in the World Cup

I can't believe you haven't received an offer from one of the top clubs.

Surprising me too...I guess they must think Matteo was just a one-hit wonder.

Re: Something in the Making: Lam Matteo (PES 2009)

An exhausting World Cup and even more transfer negotations between clubs such as Newcastle, West Brom and even NAC Breda, tore Matteo over the offseason.

        A done deal

Lam Matteo will return as a Cottager in 2015

Fulham have not arranged any other offseason transfers, Roy Hodgson was quoted as saying "Matteo is our only priority at this point", when the golden-boot winner announced he wished to "test out the market".

"It's something all players need to get out of their system," says Hodgson, "I understand he wanted to see what else was out there other than Fulham football. In the end, I think he made the right choice for his future."

The dissapointed arose when Matteo was rumored to be linked to moves to such clubs as Chelsea, Manchester Untied and even Barcelona.

"Just rumors it seems," says an indifferent Matteo, "I think my product went sour at the World Cup - but that's okay, I'm playing European football now".

That's right, after their 3rd place finish in the Premiership last year, the Cottagers will be taking their game in the Uefa Cup for the first time in the club's history.

"It's fantastic," gleams Hodgson, "The boys worked hard last year, and they are going to have to work even harder this year. I am glad we have everyone back to finish what we started."

          Hey Matt,

Gonna cover several topics in this post:
          - The maximum salary is 5000P.

          - Can't believe Netherlands got their *** kicked this hard at the World Cup. I even saw Drenthe make room for your shot. :P

          - How many weeks were left in the transfer window? Because the big teams usually make an offer very very late. Like 2 or even just 1 week before closure. Oh well... get 'em next year!

          - And you're not gonna play UEFA cup football (Or Europa League as of 09/10), you're actually gonna play qualifying group stage for the Champions League. Those start early... Like in week 2 or 3 even. If you manage to be in the top 2, you're playing Champions League. If you don't, it's UEFA Cup. So you'll be playing a loooooot of matches this season.

          - Lastly: congrats with the Golden Boot to Lam, and keep putting 'em in.

Congrats on Lam's first international goal, too bad it couldn't have helped the US into the group stage. Hard to believe bigger teams didn't come calling; perhaps Lam's attributes are holding him back?

Hey izu - thanks for the clarification about the UEFA, first time around - I wasn't how exact it was in BAL mode. Pretty crazy considering I've been playing this BAL for a while.

The goal was sweet -- as for the transfers, yes it was the last week, believe me, I was pretty upset. I mean seriously, Newcastle and West Brom? Meh, Blackburn seemed tempting - but then I remembered Fulham were going Euro this year, can't pass that up - that is where the big clubs will take notice hopefully.

It could be man. They aren't the greatest - I'll have to post them when I get home. I think it's also the European exposure - or lack there of during his career. Hopefully, like izu mentioned, the amount of games Matteo will be playing will start having teams take notice.

That or Matteo will break his ankle through fatigue.

Yeah, you better get your durability up! You are in for a long, tough season. Matteo has had injury problems before, but none last season. Lets hope that holds up!

A brief look at the calendar (left) and the current starting lineup in the match against Liverpool.

                  Whoa, more colors
Fulham prepare for more than one match a week in 2015

With the addition of the UEFA Champions League qualifying, the Cottagers now have more than one match a week, which also includes next week's start of the Premiership Cup - a competition the Cottagers have not made past the quarter finals (mostly from facing Manchester United).

With the new setup, and relatively familiar lineup, Roy Hodgson will have to be wise in utilizing the players based on fatigue level - instead of skill like he had done last year when Lam Matteo had not sit out a game since the January transfer window.

"It's not something we are used to obviously," Hodgson chuckled, "But those poor boys will be just fine with whatever setup I put forth".

Gabriel Agbonlahor opened up the scoring, but it was Lam Matteo who finished the match with a hat-trick.

Welcome home. It was one heck of a tough offseason for Matteo, and to see that things have finally gelled nicely here in the Cottage - well, it makes a grown man happy/teary. Today he let out all his frustration on the ball and smacked in some absolute stunning goals. Kudos to Giovinco and Paintsil for the great supply of crosses and through balls. Next week is Champions League qualifying against Valencia - wohoo - debut time! (Btw, anyone notice the new kits? ...MY Idea)

One question, how was your match rating only 6.5?

Yeah, I couldn't figure out what else to do with the kits - thinking about creating some UEFA ones as well, but meh

No joke, the rating scale is dumb in this game. Sometimes it's correct, but this should have been Matteo's highest yet.

Chances gone begging. Matteo had his chances to show he can play European football, but he didn't seem to take them as cool and collected as he usually does. I think he had some nerves brewing there, but hopefully he can regain his composure against Newcastle next week.

Wow great job Matt good to see Lam get this far. I saw how your transfer window turned out and I'm surprised you didn't get too many offers. How are your attributes look, are you concentrating on speed, dribbling, technique? I know that ratings have a big deal on what teams want you and also attributes so get those up and you should see some more teams coming for you next time. I have noticed tracking back to defend, and completing good passes improve your rating and of course scoring goals.

But im sure you know this season will be tough for you with more games to play, it took a hamper on my BAL player I know for sure. You won't have to worry about International play (Unfortunatley) because the Euros will be played in the summer, than the following year will be Gold Cup. But I wish you luck, glad you stayed with Fulham.
