Kamara scores from an easy spot - Schweinsteiger is mauled by his fellow teammate after equalising.

    Fulham FC 1-1 Sunderland
A much needed point for both sides

    '27 Kamara

    Up and Down:
Matteo's up and down season continues as he failed to score for the 3rd match in a row since coming back from hamstring injury. I think he has some more goals left in this early season - but I would rather not wait for the end of the season to find out.

      No Accuracy:
Seven shots, yet only one on target? Something isn't right here - I called Matteo up the other day and he agreed with me on a superstitious level about 1. His boots got to go and 2. Shoot for the near post. All his shots that he missed were far post - naturally - but now he needs to mix it up. Let's see if Aston Villa will give way next week.

Are we seeing Willem II again?
You have to wonder if Fulham FC are becoming Matteo's Willem II. Where a team that started just absolutely fantastic - to absolutely pathetic. The defending in tonight's game against Villa was the worst I have seen...ever. They just let them walk all over the pitch with the ball. Matteo didn't help matters with his poor passing and even more poor, his shooting. He's trying to be too precise with his shots - aiming for bottom corners instead of just focusing on getting it on target first. Well, Fulham are going to be without the services of Matteo next week against his old side Hull City, due to yellow card accumulation.

            Scoring Drought.
When you realize you are on a scoring drought - you know it's going to be one of the hardest things to overcome. Lam Matteo needs to try to stop forcing himself upon the defense - it's not working. He needs to be a pest, but he also needs to wait for the chances to come through his teammates - and not try to do everything all at once. He's kind of slipped up lately, hopefully a cup tie will spark some much needed goals.

              Pure Frustration.
It isn't getting better for Lam Matteo, sent off for the first time in his professional career - Fulham FC have already announced that Matteo is not going to be considered for the next match against Newcastle. I am going to interview him tonight - and get it out to the public tomorrow. It's time to figure out what is wrong the young man these days.

                  Matteo back on the bench

Great timing right after the article published.

You have to love the timing, right after my article gets published and posted - Lam Matteo has been given the go ahead to play in the next match against Manchester City. And rightfuly so, the man has scored three goals in the last two training matches. Not only has he changed his shoes to some nike's (from adidas) he has changed his hair-style - safe to say the superstitious approach is still there, but hopefully he can transfer it onto the field, right?

                    Not just yet.
I think Mr. Hodgson is going to make Matteo sweat this stint out a bit, especially with the January transfer window quickly approaching. Matteo is going to have to wait two weeks though because he is not going to be available for the next match (Premiership Cup vs Man City, 2nd leg) due to his red card.

JP (Johnson Peoples): Lam, do you think you are going to start ever again for Fulham?

LM (Lam Matteo): Without a doubt. I think this is just a hiccup - and like I said in our last meet and greet, this is temporary - I will be back to form.

JP: Do you ever feel like your days are numbered with football/soccer in general? What if Fulham end your contract in January? Have you given thought to what you will do?

LM: What could I possibly do? Beg for my job back? No way. Roy (Hodgson) is a very deliberate head coach, he wouldn't listen to my squealing - and i wouldn't blame him. As for where I'll be, I don't care, I just want to play.

JP: Deep down - do you want to remain a Cottager?

LM: Yes. I wear my emotions on my sleeve, I love playing with that badge next to my heart. If I could play for Fulham for 20 more years - I'd gladly do so.

JP: So it's never been a money thing with you?

LM: Well, I have bills to pay - but I love this club. If the scenario presented in a beneficial manner, I don't think I would pass up the specifics.

                      JP: Specifics such as cash-money?

LM: That's what I'm getting at.

JP: Lastly, if there are any clubs out there for you in January - and they offer the "specifics" plus a starting spot...would you accept?

LM: We'll see come January, won't we Johnson?

JP: Thanks for your time - good luck, buddy.

                      LM: Always. Take care.

I don't want to jinx him, but Matteo is showing that twinkle in his eye again. His goal wasn't beautiful - but it was something he wouldn't trade for anything in this world. Let's just wait for some more proof of how good he really is going to be for the side when Everton come into Craven Cottage next week. After that is the January transfer window, mind you, if he keeps this up - Matteo won't be going anywhere.

It wasn't the best way for Matteo to go into the transfer window, but a 6.5 rating can't hurt. He had some chances - but their keeper made some good saves. After a four weeks rest, if he's still here, Matteo will be playing against West Brom.

                            • Negotiations - week 2 - Hull aren't giving up, now offering 1250 P. "Same answer, Tigers." -- REJECTED. Bottom of the table, West Bromwich Albion step up into the mix, offering 1130 P. "I like West Brom, but not as much as Fulham at the moment." -- REJECTED.

                            • Negotiations - week 3 - The same two clubs approach. Both are rejected before they have a chance to sit down. -- REJECTED

                            • Negotiations - week 4 - They just don't give up in the Premier League do they? Hull City and West Brom both denied for the last time. -- REJECTED

As a result of the rejections, Matteo remains a Cottager. Can he keep his form and eventually re-crack the starting eleven? He will probably have to in order to receive a renewal at the end of the year.

                              He's not worthy.
Coming in as a substitute to get the goal - Lam Matteo couldn't find the back of the net, but he found himself involved in plenty of the plays - specifically the game winner by Gabby. Agbonlahor scored as a result of Lam Matteo's 1-2 touch with Giovinco - the Italian then sent the ball into a wide open slot between the defenders for Gabby - who blasted the ball upper 90 into the roof of the net. Lam Matteo receives a 7.0 and Man of the Match? Okay, we'll take it. But he still needs to score. Maybe if he starts? Hmmmm...

                                Welcome back, Matteo
American striker regains form, set to start against West Ham

The news of Lam Matteo's journey back to the Fulham bench has been ongoing the moment he received the red card in the first leg of the Premiership Cup versus City. Now, almost three months later, the young man has found himself back in the starting eleven for Fulham.

"I had no doubt I would be here again," Matteo says, "It was only a matter of time. I've always believed good things will come to those who wait, but I won't deny that during my trials in the reserves I was fairly unsure of where to go from there."

From speculation to speculation, Lam Matteo was the subject of possible transfer to Hull City or West Bromwich Albion:

"Yeah, I didn't much care for either of those teams. I knew where I wanted to be, and that is right here in this squad - part of the tradition that shines so brightly here at Fulham football club."

Glad to have you back, Lam. Now go score some goals.

                                (10-4-6 - 34pts, 8th)

                                West Ham United
(4-4-1-1): Fabianski, Neill, Davenport, McCartney, Marek Cech, Dyer, Bowyer, Mark Noble, Faubert, Boa Morte, Ashton

Reaction: Judging by their current record, West Ham can score plenty of goals and quickly. The last time these two sides met, it went in favor of the Toppers 5 goals to Fulham's 2. Look for Dean Ashton and Faubert to play critical roles in the attack as Faubert has the playmaking ability and Ashton seems to score from every angle.

Fulham (4-4-2): Riou, Andreasen, Leijer, Hughes, Konchesky, Bullard, Cook, Seol Ki Hyeon, Lazaros, Agbonlahor, Lam Matteo

Reaction: Starting the second half of the season with a monumental win against a resilient West Brom side was just what Roy Hodgson and Fulham needed. However, they will be without the tall Norwegian, Hangeland, due to yellow card accumulation. On the bright side the team will have two strikers, Gabriel Agbonlahor and Lam Matteo, that are capable of turning something out of nothing.
