The Season Begins with QPR Getting a Decisive Win

Allen reminds everyone of his status as the best goal scorer in the BPL

The Queens Park Rangers kicked off their new Premier League campaign with a tremendous victory over a shell shocked Crystal Palace team at home. This game marked the debut of Theophile-Catherine at right back for the home side who was acquired via free transfer during last season's transfer window. His impact as a leader was felt immediately, as the talented Frenchman reminded fans of the days of their old French fullback Roussillon. The back line held strong, forcing turnovers and preventing any shots on goal from the opposition. Alvin Allen silenced the doubters that he would be rusty after missing a lot of the training sessions due to his unexplained hiatus. He scored both goals of the match, the first of which left the Crystal Palace defenders falling all over themselves with a great fake shot that got him inside before burying a left footed bomb into the corner. His impressive match up top garnered him Man of the Match honors as QPR gets their first win of the season in a big way.

A Sloppy Game in the Rain Gets Decided By Penalty Shot

Belenov gets a shutout in his first start for QPR

Aggression was the game plan for a Southampton team looking to get a win for their home fans. They did so by pushing their strong fullbacks, Chambers and Shaw, extremely far up the pitch. The tactic worked for them a sit put QPR on their heels early, forcing the midfield to gather themselves instead of pushing out on the attack like they were used to. With this strategy, a team needs to score less they open themselves to a counter opportunity. Southampton played with fire, and eventually as the rains fell and stamina wore down, their fullbacks and midfield seemed to have trouble getting back fast enough. QPR would take advantage as a counter opportunity caught Southampton with smaller numbers on the defense. Phillips would break free into the box and Wanymoa had no choice but to bring him down for the yellow card and penalty attempt. Allen would head to the spot and bury the gift into the top left corner for the only goal of the match. It was sloppy and full of turnovers, but QPR somehow manages to get the ugly win to move to 2-0-0 on the season.

Few Shots and Little Action See QPR Get the Three Points

Shelvey's late shot was off target

A muddy mess was made of Zvezda Stadium as the London rains continued to pour on pitch. The key became possession for both teams as the match got bogged down in the middle of the field. Tackles were prevalent and the turnovers that accompanied them, as neither team could seem to get an advantage over the other. Finally QPR would get some daylight, so to speak, as the left side duo of Hoilett and Allen pulled a nice 1-2 give and go to free Allen in space, using acceleration to get a step and fire home a wet bouncing ball into the corner of the net. Little chances were created for both teams after, but late on the match Shelvey would find himself on a sudden break through the middle of the field. Belenov would come out to meet him and Shelvey would send a slick ball off the post, saving the day for QPR for a frustrating ending for the Swansea star. QPR would win the day, and quietly Allen has garnered 4 goals on the season.

Another One Bites the Dust as QPR Gets Their Fourth Victory

The long through ball by Jeon set up the early goal

Aston Villa just have not been the same team since they sold Benteke to Tottenham last season, but the plucky bunch came to fight today as the undefeated Rangers came to visit them at home. Center forward Dost led his team in the attack as the Villans pressed forward early, cutting through Onuoha and the center of the defense. Luckily for them, Belenov came to play, parrying an early strike by Dost as he found himself free in the middle. With the early attack subverted, QPR went on the offensive. Jeon accepted a pass near the halfline and turned to see Allen running free. He sent forth a beautiful over the top ball that caught the striker in stride. One on one Allen couldn't be stopped and he easily put QPR up 1-0. It would be enough for the win as QPR moves to 4 wins on the season.

(in best falsetto voice) The CHAMPIONS!!!

Queens Park Rangers v. Real Madrid
                                Champions League Group Stage

Ronaldo was in form today with 2 goals

Who are the Queens Park Rangers? They used to be a club constantly on the edge of relegation, fighting each year to stay in the Premier League. And now, they find themselves in the Champions League after an excellent previous season. How good are they really? Their mettle would be tested against perennial Champions League title contenders Real Madrid. Led by arguably the best player in the world, Cristiano Ronaldo, the home team is balanced within all positions. The core of this group has been together for some time now, and many think this squad is destined to win the cup.
QPR would stay on their heels for the entire first half. One could tell that they were not used to sitting on the back foot, because all they were able to do was sit and try to hold formation as Real Madrid held onto the possession. Back and forth the ball went around the midfield, from Mordic, forward to Di Maria on the right, and then back to the middle to Juan Mata. Bale was streaking to the left and Juan Mata would find him as Theophile-Catherine would try to get in front. Bale would make a quick stutter and get free a step as the Real Madird midfield rushed into the box. The cross would come low in the air and quick across the face of the keeper, and who other than Cristiano Ronaldo would find it, sticking his head down and steering it into the back of the net for the first goal of the match in the 19’. The Real Madrid players would pat each other on the back without much of a celebration as if they expected to hand out a beating on the afternoon.
The match would continue with a quick turnover soon after by the Rangers right back to the always active Mordic coming forward. QPR would be caught a bit off guard by the speed of their build up as Real Madrid would come forward once again with numbers. Ronaldo would get it out wide, cutting in with a quick chop for which he is known for to the delight of the fans before giving to Bale at the top of the box. Ehmer would cover, and Bale would roll it across and back to Mordic who would take the quick one timed shot from about 25 out that was saved by Belenov to his right. But the slow reaction of the QPR defense allowed who other than the Ronaldo to poke in the rebound for an easy second goal. The most dangerous man on the pitch was unmarked coming back into the box which is unacceptable for the Premier League leaders.
The remainder of the match was uneventful as QPR would eventually find their footing in the second half, but it would be of little impact against a Real Madrid side bent on holding possession until the end of the match. The one good chance for QPR would be a shot from distance by Allen late on goal, but Muslera was in position and easily caught the chance, preventing the closing QPR players from any shot at a rebounded chance. Real Madrid would win easily, 2-0 as QPR would find themselves looking for answers with tough group play ahead.
