WWE 2K20 Universe - The Yes Era

Hey guys! I've been on and off of being active on this board for a few years, but seeing everyone posting these retro universes has gotten me interested in running one of my own, from one of my favorite recent eras of wrestling. Without further ado, I present the WWE post WrestleMania 30 in 2014!

I love this era because Daniel Bryan got me invested in wrestling again after a period where I largely didn't watch. I played the WWE games but didn't really enjoy them as much as I used to, and the TV product didn't really interest me as I was heading into middle school and started to have more hobbies outside of school that took up more of my time. However, I started getting more interested in the WWE when new talent such as the Shield and the Wyatt Family debuted, and the WWE began to rely more heavily on CM Punk and Daniel Bryan. Because of this, 8th grade me ate up the Authority angle like crazy. I hated HHH, Orton and Stephanie and sympathized with the faces who fought against them. This was also the point where I started reading wrestling news sites such as Lords of Pain, and I began to lose interest again when it broke that WWE planned to have Batista return and main event WrestleMania. The thought of WWE truly thinking of Daniel Bryan as a B+ player in reality broke my heart, and I didn't understand the point of having Batista come in and win the title just so he could take it to Guardians of the Galaxy events (although in all honesty with everything that has transpired since then it would be par for the course now).

However, the Yes Movement, Occupy RAW, and the public disapproval of the WWE's decisions such as the YES chants at basketball games and other sporting events caused the WWE to change their mind and allow Bryan to not only enter the match at WrestleMania but win it and become champion. My friends and I who talked about wrestling during first period Spanish 1 went crazy because we thought we had really changed the WWE machine and made them realize that they needed to listen to the fans. Yet again, however, we ended up being wrong.

Another reason I love writing about this era is the "what if" stories that can happen, most notably regarding what transpired soon after WrestleMania. Daniel Bryan's neck injuries mounted, and much like Steve Austin before him, he was forced to take time off of wrestling and relinquish the title. This led to WWE going back to the John Cena well and even allowing Brock Lesnar to be a part time champ, but an even bigger issue loomed; the overpush of Roman Reigns (which I won't get into as I realize I have written way too much and you will see how I would have handled his push in time.)

Sorry for the walls of text, but I wanted to give some context as to why I love this era and chose to cover it for this universe. In the next post I will show my changes to the WM30 results, the rosters for this universe, and the current champions.

Vickie Guerrero memorial??? Is that really what they named it that year? Lol.

      Loved Wyatt going over Cena.

Brock was the perfect choice to end Taker's stream imo, so I'm curious who you are thinking!

Welcome back, good to have you!

Did Cesaro pull double duty? Winning the tag titles AND the battle royal?

This was one of the last great eras of WWE I think. Post 2016 brand split Smackdown is up there too. I share your love of it.

That wasn't a women's battle royal at WM30, it was a 6-pack challenge I think, so that's definitely a rewrite. I hope you didn't kill off Vicky! Lol.

As Smoove said, it was actually a multi woman match that I changed to a battle royal, I thought it fit Vickie's crusade against AJ better and would have gotten her some heat to give herself a "memorial" alongside the Andre one.

Glad to be back, I've got some more time on my hands this semester so I want to get back to writing more!

Yes he did, I wanted to give the Real Americans the belts because the Usos didn't really do a whole lot for me at this point, but Cesaro eliminating Big Show is one of my all time favorite moments as a huge Cesaro fan so I had to keep it in there. The Real Americans were in the actual match at WM though, it was just that the Usos retained in real life.

Edit because I forgot a couple things:

I have a plan for the end of Taker's streak, while Brock made sense because of how physically dominant he is, I felt the rub was wasted and could have instantly legitimized someone as Taker's possible replacement.

I also felt Wyatt should have gone over Cena at WM and ultimately won the feud. Bray is one of my all time favorite characters and he should have been taken a lot more seriously than he was, and in large part it was due to losing to Cena twice.

Side note, I was nervous when I saw your NXT universe that it was going to be around this time period like 2013 ish and I thought I would have to focus solely on the main roster for this one. I'm still not sure if I want to do full weekly shows for NXT or just focus on Takeovers but I wanted to get the background info up while I decide on that this weekend.

Yep you're right about the women's match!

I agree on SD 2016, I loved that era too but honestly the only major turning point is what if Vince didn't put Road Dogg in charge of creative for SD after that, while this era has a lot of question marks that could have made both shows much different IMO (Bryan's injury, Reigns' push, etc)

Nice to see the "community" growing. Best of luck. Maybe you can also teach me a few things about what's been happening in the WWE over the last few years. I'll be doing my best to follow along.

Thanks man, hopefully I can do it justice and show how the era could have gone differently than it did.

Re: WWE 2K20 Universe - The Yes Era

                    RAW Week 1

The Authority opens the show. Triple H announces that since Orton and Batista failed at WrestleMania, he'll have to take the title from Daniel Bryan himself in tonight's main event!

Orton and Batista are upset with this news, as Orton wants to cash in his rematch clause and Batista wants a one on one match with Bryan like he was promised for winning the Royal Rumble.

Triple H tells Orton he will get his rematch at Extreme Rules in an Extreme Rules Match, and Batista will get a shot later down the line. As for tonight, Orton and Batista better get ready, because they will have a shot at some different gold later tonight, as they will face the new Tag Team Champions, The Real Americans!

Triple H is interrupted by the music of the WWE Champion, Daniel Bryan!

Bryan says he just wanted to interrupt Evolution's love fest to make a big announcement that concerns the three of them. As the new champion, he has promised to use his platform to bring competition to WWE. Because of this, he is forfeiting the World Heavyweight Championship, and he wants to allow Batista to be in the first title match, against an opponent that has history with Bryan and Triple H. He's not here right now but he will be later tonight.

Triple H seems angered that Bryan is laying down the law but allows it to happen. The promo ends with Bryan's music hitting and Bryan laying the big gold belt on the ramp. Evolution exits and Triple H grabs the belt.

                    *Commercial*

Match #1: Erick Rowan/Luke Harper w/ Bray Wyatt vs. The Usos

Two teams in contention for the tag titles, as the former champs take on an up and coming team. Rowan and Harper dominate early keeping Jimmy in their corner. However, he is able to make it out and tag in Jey, who keeps the big men on their toes. The Usos go for a double splash on Harper but Bray Wyatt distracts the referee before they can cover. John Cena runs down and brawls with Wyatt, and Jimmy hits a suicide dive to take out Bray. However, Jey runs into a Discus Clothesline!

R-Truth and Xavier Woods are in the ring to hype up the New Orleans crowd. Truth raps and gets the crowd on their feet.

The Bulgarian Super Athlete Rusev and his manager Lana appear on the ramp!

Lana insults the American crowd, berating them for their awful taste in entertainment. Rusev will show the Americans who the premier athlete is!

Match #2: Rusev w/ Lana vs. Xavier Woods w/ R-Truth

Rusev enters the ring and Woods steps up to challenge him. This is a short squash as Woods tries some ineffective offense before running into the Machka Kick! Rusev applies The Accolade!

                    Spoiler

Match #3: The Real Americans vs. Randy Orton/Batista - WWE Tag Team Championship

This quickly devolves into a brawl, as Orton and Batista have no interest in the tag titles. They beat down on Cesaro and Swagger, take them to the outside, and beat them down well past the referee's 10 count.

                    No Contest

After the match, Orton and Batista continue their assault until Daniel Bryan runs down! Bryan hits a Running Knee on Orton, while Swagger and Cesaro recover. Cesaro drops Batista with a European Uppercut, and Swagger hits the Swagger Bomb!

Bryan brings out Batista's opponent for Extreme Rules...

Punk says on SmackDown we will find out where he has been and why he has come back to the WWE.

RVD is making a return after some time off. He makes quick work of Axel and drops Ryback with a spin kick when he tries to intervene. Van Dam goes up to the top and hits the Five Star Frog Splash!

                    Spoiler

AJ Lee comes out with Tamina.

She cuts a promo on winning Vickie Guerrero's invitational at WrestleMania and conquering the entire Divas division. It's going to take someone unexpected to halt her title reign.

                    Spoiler

Paige enters and says much like AJ, she has conquered the NXT division and wants a real challenge; to become the Undisputed Women's Champion at Extreme Rules! AJ accepts!

Main Event: Daniel Bryan vs. Triple H w/ The Authority

Evolution and Kane beat down Bryan before the match. Triple H makes Armstrong ring the bell. Triple H hits the Pedigree but turns around to a Spear from Roman Reigns! Armstrong calls for the bell!

                    No Contest

After the match, The Shield take out Evolution and Kane! Rollins with a Curb Stomp to Kane! Ambrose with Dirty Deeds on Batista! Reigns drops Orton with a Spear! They drag Triple H out of the ring and hit the Triple Powerbomb through an announce table! Meanwhile back in the ring, Bryan gets to his feet and hits Orton with a Running Knee!

Yeah I have some good ideas for him I think, he won't be the mega star he was a few years prior but he will still be a major player.

Just letting you guys know, I may not be able to post SD until after the weekend, I've been working a theater camp all week and then I'm planning on playing in the ESL tournament for MLB 20 and moving back into my apartment this weekend, so it may be Monday or later until I post again.
