WCW- Where the Big Boys Play

So this will be my universe. I’m bigger on writing than I am adding a razzle dazzle presentation. The story line here is this will take place on the very first Nitro. Below are the results for the last ppv Bash at the Beach, a day before the first Nitro airs. I’ll be using WWE2k22 and basically all my writing will be based off how the matches unfold, while I will take a little creative liberty for story telling purposes.

    CURRENT CHAMPIONS

    WCW WORLD CHAMPION
    Hulk Hogan

    TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS
    Harlem Heat

    UNITED STATES CHAMPION
    Ric Flair

    TELEVISION CHAMPION
    Ricky The Dragon Steamboat

    CRUISERWEIGHT CHAMPION
    Rey Mysterio

Barry Windham v. Tx tornado v. Jeff Jarrett v. One man gang

Winner of this match gets a title shot of their choice on the very first Nitro. This was the epitome of what good ole JR would call a slobber knocker. Matched concluded when Tx tornado subbed one man gang at same time windham pinned Jeff Jarrett, but ref only saw the pin. Windham wins in a controversy.

FACES OF FEAR v. Young Bucks

Solid action. What was suppose to be a squash match for Meng and Barbarian turned into anything but….. The Young Bucks were highly competitive in this match. The tag bout came to a conclusion when a frustrated Meng wouldn’t release the Tongan Death Grip well after the tap. Young Bucks win by DQ

    Eddie Guerrero v. Tajiri

Great match. The creative offense between the two was very fun to watch. Match concluded when Tajiri spit green mist, missing guerrero and hitting mr Fuji. Guerrero landed the three amigos but the frog splash was countered by tajiri. Tajiri rolled Guerrero up and the ref made the three count despite Eddie having his hand on the rope on the count of two.

    CRUISERWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
Jushin liger v. Rey Mysterio (c)

Another incredible match. So many high flying spots. Crowd seemed restless, but no idea why as these two were putting out pure art. Match finally ended after Jushin liger hit a second shooting star press.

    TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP
Hollywood Blondes v. Harlem Heat (c)

Entertaining tag action. Several near pin falls for both teams. However, the champions retained after nailing a Heat Seeker on Stunning Steve Austin.

    CHAMPIONSHIP V. CHAMPIONSHIP
US Champ Ric Flair v. TV Champion Ricky Steamboat

This was another flair/steamboat epic. The crowd finally woke up and were going nuts for these two. Fight finally ended when flair slapped on a figure four and arn anderson grabbed flairs arm for extra leverage. Dragon eventually tapped.

Bam Bam Bigelow v. Macho Man

This was a pin fall anywhere match. These guys fought in just about every corner pocket of the arena. Both bloody and battered, the match concluded when bam bam was laying on the floor outside the ring. Macho was gojng for a flying elbow, but DDP came out of nowhere and chair shot macho in the back. Macho fell off the turnbuckle and to the outside. Bam bam picked macho up and powerbombed his head onto the steel steps. Bam bam got the pin, and afterwards medics had to strap macho to a gurney and take him out the arena in an ambulance.

    WCW WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
Sid Vicious v. Hulk Hogan (c)

This was an okay match. Crowd loved it despite areas of little to nothing action wise. Ended up being a slow burn though as the ending really picked things up. Sid landed a powerbomb and was just about over the cage when hogan grabbed him by the boot and slowly but surely brought him back into the ring. Hogan reversed a second powerbomb attempt and landed a big boot followed by a leg drop. Hogan won in the cage with a pin

    MATCH OF THE NIGHT
    Ric Flair v. Ricky Steamboat

    SUB OF THE NIGHT
    Ric Flair

    PIN OF THE NIGHT
    Hulk Hogan

    First Nitro

    WCW Monday Nitro
    Atlanta, Georgia

Show starts off with Eric Bischoff, Ted Turner, JJ Dillonand The President of New Japan Wrestling Antonio Inoki in the ring. Also in the ring joining them is the World Champions for both companies Hulk Hogan and Kazuchika Okada.Bischoff announces that WCW is not only going to be on prime time television, but WCW will also be working hand in hand with New Japan Wrestling in the future. The vision is to give the fans all the fights they deserve to see. They go on about how the future for WCW is bright and with Champions like Hogan and Okada representing the companies it would be nonstop high quality entertainment. The celebration was cut short when Mr Fuji and The WWF World Champion Yokozuna came over the screen. Mr. Fujisaid he highly respects President Inoki, but to go in business with WCW would be foolish. He goes on to say their character is personified by the face of their company Hulk Hogan, who has been ducking Yokozuna for years. A coward. Whether it’s to WCW or a movie set Hogan is always running from the REAL champion.

goes to commercial as the cameras zoom in on a visibly pissed off Hulk Hogan.

One man gang w/ Ted Dibiasev. Jake Sallisaw

One man Gang absolutely decimated the local wrestler. Sallisaw, a replacement for a local karate master turned pro wrestler Ernest Miller. Rumor has it DiBiase paid off Miller because Money Inc viewed him as a real threat. When the match started not only did One Man Gang make quick work of his opponent, but the crowd cheered when he hit a corner splash followed up with doing the worm capped by a stiff elbow drop. He calls it The Initiation. The crowd ate it up. Maybe he does have personality.

When we come back Mean Gene is standing with Lex Luger. Lugersays what DDP and Bam Bam did to his good friend Macho at Bash at the Beach-was downright evil. He wants a fight. Luger says if they have the balls then tonight on Nitro theylll settle it in a tag match against himself and Sting.

Eddie Guerrero and Malenko v. Tajiri and Great Muta

Great match. Perhaps a little too long, but some really top level wrestling. Things were going good until Eddie refused to leave the fight. He had opportunities to tag Malenko and chose to keep fighting. Malenko, frustrated… left the ring and walked to the back. Eventually the two on one became too much for Guerrero who succumbed to a Tajiri armbar.

It’s reported that Randy Savage is still in bad condition. Updates are limited, but it’s reported that Macho may have suffered a severe concussion. The announcers team wishes him a speedy recovery and promise to keep the viewers updated.

    Chris Jericho v. Marty Janetty

This is a solid match between two hot prospects. Janetty has just signed with WCW after his partner with the WWF turned on him on live tv. Prior to that he was one half of the hottest tag team in the WWF.While Chris Jericho has a pretty nice cult following himself, as he’s made a namein both Mexico and Japan. The match was actually pretty entertaining. The time limit was set at fifteen minutes, which ended up saving Janetty who was on the wrong end of a Lion Tamerright as time ran out. Both men showed respect after the match.

JJ Dillon comes out and says the four way that opened up Bash at the Beachended in controversy. The outcome is not fair to Texas Tornado who subbed his opponent at the same time Barry Windham pinned Jeff Jarrett. Tonight Windham and Texas Tornado will go one on one to see who gets the title shot of their choice.

    Jeff Jarrett v. Alex Wright

Jeff Jarrett who’s a former Intercontinental Champion for the WWF was matched up against a young prospect in Alex Wright. Watching the entrances for both men you would have sworn you were watching a dance competition. When the bell rang, Alex did more than hold his own, but the ring savvy and experience put Jarrett a step ahead. Who was able to dodge a top rope missile drop kick and slap on a figure four for the tap!

The announcers frantically bring us to the back where DDP and Bam Bam are attacking Sting.Security and WCW personnel were eventually able to break up the mugging. Sting looks in bad shape. The announcers promise to keep the fans updated.

Anderson & Benoit v. Hollywood Blondes

This match got a big pop from the crowd. Great back n forth that ended when Austin went for a clothesline and Benoit reversed it into a Crippler Cross Face.Huge win for The Horseman. The red hot Hollywood Blondes are on a skid.

It is announced that Lex Luger will have to pick a new partner as Sting will not be able to compete tonight. Next up we have

    Wrath v. Disco Inferno

This ended up being a major upset. Wrath was dominating pretty much the entire match, but kept avoiding the pin. He was enjoying making an example out of Disco. The match was interrupted with a blue smokey mist. The announcers commented on how much colder it just got in the arena. A bloodied Disco took advantage of the chaos and rolled Wrath up for the pin! Major upset!

Ric Flair comes out and cuts a promo as the Champ Champ. Flair goes on about how Steamboat is good wooooo, but not great woooooooo. Flair says while he loves being double champ, his focus is to win the world title. He hands the TV Title to potential Horsemanb]Curt Hennig. JJ Dillon comes out and says legally he can’t do much about Flair giving the title to his pal, but since Hennig is the TV Champ he has to defend the title tonight. And with drop the mic vibes JJ announces Hennigs opponent will be The Dragon. The crowd erupts.

    WCW Television Championship
Ricky Steamboat v. Curt Hennig (c)

Good match. The Dragon was a machine tonight. Hennig is always high class but it was clear the time off was playing a huge factor. Hennig always seemed half a second behind. The match ended before the time limit when Steamboat his a flying cross body for the 1-2-3. Steamboat celebrated with the crowd while a frustrated and defeated Hennig headed to the back.

Highlights from The Four Way match at Bash at the Beachplays. The replay of Tornado making One Man Gang tap, while Windham is pinning Jarret plays. What a mess. If that’s how exciting the first match was, imagine how great the rest of the ppv was. You can order the encore tonight for half the price! Up next in our co main event we get Barry Windham v. Texas Tornado to see who gets the guaranteed title shot of their choice.

    Barry Windham v. Texas Tornado

Windham who’s being scouted by The Four Horseman looked good. TX Tornado got a huge crowd pop from the fans who recognized him as Kerry von Erich. This was a great match, Tornado was throwing everything plus the kitchen sink, but a battle tested veteran like Windham was able to weather the storm. At some point it looked like Windham wrapped his knuckles with something and cold cocked Tornado who dropped like a sack of bricks. Windham immediately went for the pin and got the 1-2-3 for the win. Right or wrong, it looks like Barry Windham is guaranteed a title shot of his choosing.

When Nitro comes back from the break the announce team is recapping the evenings events. The atmosphere of this first Nitro feels like a pay per view. What an incredible live show and we haven’t even made it to the Main Event!

    *SELF HIGH FIVE*

DDP & Bam Bam v. Luger and ?

Bam Bam & DDP are in the ring when Luger comes out. He stays at the top of the ramp while the crowd waits in excitement to see who the mystery partner is?!!!

*HARD TIMES plays over the arena*

    It’s The Big Bossman!

DDP & Bam Bam v. Lex Luger and The Big Bossman

Great match. Bossman was a true equalizer. The match ended when DDP, escaped a Torture Rack, rolled out the ring and started to head to the back. He backed into Sting..who was also holding a baseball bat. Better the devil you know than the devil you don’t, this sent DDP back to the ring but he never took his eyes off Sting. DDP walked right into a Torture Rack where he inevitably tapped out. The show went off the air with Lugers hand being raised, while Bossman and Bam Bam continued to brawl throughout the crowd.

    MATCH OF THE NIGHT
Eddie Guerrero & Malenko v. Tajiri & The Great Muta

Bam Bam Bigelow v. La Parka

Bam bam dominated The lord of the chair. La Parka used the wrong strategy and tried to match bam bam strength for strength. Bam Bam Continued to beat up La Parka after the match and was about to use the chair in a gruesome way before The Big Bossman came down and made the save with his night stick in hand. Bam bam wanted no part and got out the ring. Both men hollered obscenities at each other as the show went to commercial.

      Spoiler

One man gang w/ Ted Dibiase v. Disco inferno

Surprisingly good match. Inferno put up a great fight, but One man ended up dominating in the end. After the match DiBiase kicked Disco out of the ring and made a challenge to anyone in the back. 20k to anyone in the back who can beat One Man Gang.

      Spoiler

Chris Jericho & Jannetty v. Faces of Fear

Major upset! Janety and Jericho had amazing chemistry. Using Ariel attacks and speed to get the upper hand over the obviously stronger opponent. Jericho hit a lion sault and got the pin on barbarian while meng was distracted fighting Janety on the outside. After the match Janety and Jericho escaped to the back before Meng and Barbarian could get ahold of them.

      Spoiler

      DDP v. Brooklyn Brawler

DDP wins pretty easy. Brawler was able to sneak in some offense on account of ddps cockiness, but overall DDP was too much and finished brawler with a diamond cutter.

      Spoiler

DDP is interviewed right after and called hogans film trash. Says hogan is making B flicks to avoid real fights. DDP thinks the world title should be vacated. Sting comes out and says he’s tired of DDPs mouth. Sting promises he’s going to shut DDP at Road Wild.

      MAIN EVENT

At one point Tornado even applied the Iron Claw to Sid, Sid overpower the move and immediately put Tornado in position for a powerbomb, which he executed violently.

      Spoiler

After the match. Sid grabbed a microphone. He said if Hogan isn’t going to be at Road Wild then he’ll settle for Hogan lite. Lex Luger.

        Monday Nitro
        Lafayette, LA

New Japan introduces their number one wrestler Okada. Anyone brave enough to challenge him tonight will be admired. Double J Jeff Jarrett answers the call. They have a stare down and then shake hands before separating.

        Tajiri & Muta v. Benoit & Anderson

Another good tag team test for The New Japan pair, as they went head to head with Benoit & Anderson of the prestigious Four Horsemen. Lots of back in forth action. Match ended when Benoit had Tajiri in a crippler cross face by the ropes. This allowed Muta to spit the green mist in Benoit eyes without the ref noticing. Tajiri took advantage and reversed the cross face into an armbar where Benoit eventually tapped. They go to commercial as Arn is checking on Benoit.

        Spoiler

Ric flair and Hennig come to the ramp where Mean Gene is waiting with a mic. Flair says he’s extremely disappointed in Hennig for dropping the ball against Steamboat. Hennig says it was ring rust and he’ll be back to perfect soon. Barry Windhams music hits. Barry says he earned a title shot for any title last week. And he’ll happily bring the tv title back to the horseman for a spot in the group. Flair says he might just have a deal woooooooo show me what you can do pal. Hennig walked to the back visibly pissed

One Man Gang w/ DiBiase v. Norman Smiley

When we return to the action we have One Man Gang in the ring with DiBiase. DiBiase says the four way match a week ago was a fluke. Nobody in the back has what it takes to beat his guy fair and square. Any comer is welcome. Fan favorite Norman Smiley answers the call. The match was rather quick as Norman found himself on the wrong side of a few power moves followed by The Initiation.

        Spoiler

Eddie runs into malenko in the back. Says it wasn’t cool that malenko left during the match. Malenko inquired why he cared because Guerrero didn’t even look his way for a tag. Eddie ask if malenko has a problem, the vibe was pins and needles when the Hollywood blondes walked up and started making fun of the two. When tension peaked, the two teams agreed to have a match later on nitro

        Hollywood Blondes v.Guerrero and Malenko

Awesome match. Hollywood blondes picked up a much needed win. After the match Eddie and malenko continued to express frustration with one another. This time Eddie heading to the locker rooms first.

        Spoiler

          Konnan v. Gangrel

Crowd was surprised to see WWFs Gangrel. As was Konnan. Surprisingly good technical match between the two. It ended when konnan was about to lock in the Tequila Sunrise when the lights started flickering from red to black. The keen eye could see glimpses of two figures pulling gangrel out. When the lights came on konnan and the ref were covered in blood.

          Spoiler

The Steiners v. Local talent (Gary Barlow & Steve Redd)

Steiners looked in top form as they quickly dismantled the local tag team. Match ended with a bulldog. After the match Mene Gean interviewed the pair. Scott Steiner said Harlem Heat is ducking them. They want their shot at road wild.

          Spoiler

          Wrath v. Disco inferno

Wrath avenges his loss with a pretty dominating showing. Inferno is still pretty impressive and if he can put it all together he could be a problem for anyone. Wrath grabbed a mic after and said whoever’s been responsible for the magic **** lately to come see him face to face.

          Spoiler

          Y2Js v. Natural Disasters

A little unfair, Jericho and Janetty have been partners for a week and they’re already facing one of the best teams in the world. Natural Disasters won with a little help from jimmy hart. The newly formed Y2Js were very impressive. A little more experience as a team and they’ll be right in the mix. Weight and strength eventually made the difference and earthquake won with a Tidal Wave

          Spoiler

Super Calo v. Alexander Wright v. Rey Mysterio v. Prince Iakeua v. Pscicosis v. Ultimo Dragon v. Juvy Guerrero v. Chavo Guerrero

Insane match. Spot after spot after
Spot. Dave Meltzer gave it a perfect five star. The match came down to Psicosis, Ultimo dragon and Juventud. Juvy was on the wrong end of some double teams but somehow roll pinned Ultimo. He finished Psicosis with a juvy driver and 450 splash.

            Monday Night Nitro
            Jacksonville, Florida

Show starts with JJ Dillon coming to the ring. He says next week there will be a huge announcement regarding Hogan. DDP and Bam Bam come out. They say they’re tired of hearing about hulk mania. They go on and say hulkamania is dead. JJ says they’re more entitled to their opinion but they should be preparing for their tag team match tonight against Bossman and sting! Crowd pops.

One man gang and Ted DiBiase come out and issue the same challenge. 20k to anyone who can pin One Man Gang. Hacksaw Jim Dugan (who gets a huge crowd reaction) comes out and says how bout one man gang fights someone his own size. One Man pumped up tells him to get his *** in the ring.

One Man Gang w/ DiBiase v. Hacksaw Jim Duggan

Violent match. Hacksaw had the upperhand until DiBiase started distracting the ref. He told the ref that they have a deal? As suspect as that sounds the match ended up outside the ring where the two went at it. Neither caring about the match going beyond the ten count. Inevitably Duggan was outnumbered by Money Inc and left unconscious.

            Spoiler

backstage The Y2Js ran into Benoit and Arn Anderson. They carried themselves like fanboys. To a visibly annoyed Benoit and Anderson the Y2Js compliments started to turn into more back handed compliments. Benoit put his thumb to his throat and signaled Y2Js were dead

Y2Js v. Benoit and Arn Anderson

Y2Js continue their streak with a major win over the four horsemen. Match ended with a double super kick. Aside from Flair, Horseman are on a slide. The frustration is all over their face.

            Spoiler

UPDATE- Randy Savage has been released from the hospital and is in home care. Great news!

We head to The Four Horsemans locker room where Hennig and Windham are in the back arguing their points to Flair. Double J walks up, and says he doesn’t know what these two slappys are arguing but that he’ll beat the dragon tonight, and devote the match to Flair

            Dean Malenko v. Tajiri

We’ve already had some borderline classics since New Japan has entered the picture. This match was high quality from the opening bell. Towards the end Eddie seemed to be trying to help, but when he distracted the ref another New Japan superstar Shinsuke Nakamara hit Malenko with a kinasha. Team New a Japan are crushing the competition. WCW is struggling and Eddie malenkos relationship is souring.

            Spoiler

            TELEVISION CHAMPIONSHIP
Jeff Jarrett v. Ricky Steamboat (c)

Before the match Jarrett tells Flair he’s going to get the job done. Match was insanely good. Jarrett looked to have the tv title in hand when he locked on a figure four. Steamboat reversed it with everything he had. It was a 50/50 match. Dragon hit jarrett with a flying cross body but flair pulled the ref out the ring. While disputing Arn Anderson went to punch Steamboat but hit Jarret. Steamboat drop kicked Anderson. out the ring then hit jarrett with another crossbody for the win

            Spoiler

Steiner Brothers v. The Hollywood Blonds

Before the match, the Tag Team Champs Harlem Heat came out to the commentators table. The match was pretty good. Steiners strategy was very amateur wrestling. Suplex galore. Austin and Pillmans approach was more brawling with some Ariel mixed in. Match concluded, when the Steiners landed a clean Frankensteiner on pillman for the win.

            Spoiler

The commentators remind the viewers that Hulk Hogan will be on next weeks Nitro with a major announcement.

DDP and Bigelow v. Sting and Big Bossman

Another good match between four of the industries titans. Match ended in a double count out when Bossman and Bam Bam once again fought through the arena while Sting caught DDP in a sharpshooter but it was outside the ring.

Eerie music plays, Demon and Vampiro make their way to the ring. Solid match, demon looked extremely impressive in his debut. However, konnan was able to tap demon with a tequila sunrise ….but once again lights went strobe. When they came back on konnan, la parka and the ref were covered in blood.

              Spoiler

              Wrath v. Alex Wright

Great match. Wright looked amazing in spots. This was suppose to be a wash but Wright held his own. After the match the arena filled with ice cold air and everything was a blueish hue. A voice from the over head said GLACIER IS COMING. Wrath look flustered but ready to fight.

              Spoiler

              Juvy v. Psicosis

Juvy put his number one contendership against Psicosis. This was an Ariel war. Eventually Juvy, who’s been on a hot streak secured the pin and his shot at Jushin liger at roadwild. Meltzer already has the match as a favorite to win match of the card.

              Spoiler

              Y2Js v. Natural Disasters

              Spoiler

Psycho Sid came out to commentate the match. Hugh Morris who’s making his tv debut but has a serious reputation in the WCW power plant. Some peg Morris as the next big contender. Luger back in action. Good match full of power slams by each. Morris looked extremely impressive landing a moonsault. Match ended with Lex Luger torture racking Hugh Morris but Psycho Sid tossed the ref out of the ring and kicked Luger in the gut. Sid push kicked Morris out of the ring, and then proceeded to powerbomb Luger. Show ended with him standing over Luger and laughing somewhat maniacally.

                Raleigh North Carolina

in the ring is Hulk Hogan followed by the world press, and agents. Hulk Hogan announces that he will be vacating the world title. He is still passionate about being the best in the business, but doesn’t want to hold up the division while he pursues other projects. The crowd is somewhat stunned. A mixture of boos and hogan chants go through the arena

Juvy & Psicosis v. Jushin Liger & Ultimo Dragon

Exceptional back n forth entertainment. Mexico v. Japan. Juvy had Ultimo beat until Liger made the save. The match went back n forth until Liger tapped Psicosis out with a Thunder Storm. Juvy and Liger will be one for the ages.

Malenko calls out Guerrero to a match at Road Wild. No animosity. Just a one on one match to settle some of their differences. Eddie agrees, even offers his hand but right before Malenko goes to shake Chavo Guerrero comes out of nowhere and attacks Malenko. Eddie acted surprised and looked more like an innocent bystander. Chavo grabbed a mic and said if Malenko wants Eddie he has to get through him first. Malenko accepts for a match and a ref is sent to the ring.

Dean Malenko v. Chavo Guerrero jr.

Good match. Chavo is a blue chipper for sure. Malenko was just too much in the end as he countered a three amigo into a clover leaf for the sub. After…. Eddie attacked Malenko from behind. Eddie and Chavo both hit frog splashes one after the other before the security could do much.

Flair, Anderson and Benoit make their way to the ring. Flair says Hennig, Windham and Jarrett all dropped the ball, and if you want the job done right you just have to do it yourself. Flair challenges steamboat to a two out of three falls for the US title at Road Wild. That is if he can get survive The Enforcer Arn Anderson tonight. In addition, he says at Road Wild,Hennig, Windham and Jarrett will have a triple threat match to see who’s the fourth member of The Horseman!

Hennig,Windham and Jeff Jarrett v. Muta,Tajiri and Shinsuke Nakamara

Great match. The Last Samurais won in a highly competitive match. The three Americans clearly had trouble trusting one another and this cost them in the end. Muta, Tajiri and now Nakamara have made quite the impression on the US. Meanwhile, the Americans seem tangled up and off their game.

                Rick Steiner v. Booker T

Scott Steiner and Stevie Ray both took to the booth. Real good singles action. Rick who’s known for his maniac start to matches was no different here. He mangled and strangled booker t for a good five minutes before Stevie ray pulled booker out for a reset. The second go around was much better for booker, but the match ended when Rick was able to hit a flying bulldog on booker t for the pin. If Rick can do it again on Sunday we will have new TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS!

                Spoiler

Arn Anderson v. Ricky Steamboat (c)

                Non Title

Awesome match. Enforcer did a number on Steamboat which one would think is the only point tonight. Doesn’t seem like The Horseman particularly care for the winner or loser as long as punishment is dished out. However, in pound for pound best wrestler fashion Steamboat hit a second flying cross body on Anderson for the pin. Steamboat and Flair at Road Wild will bring the house down. Guaranteed.

Psycho Sid, DDP and Bam Bam v. Sting, Luger and Bossman

Crazy match. Action everywhere. Bam bam and bossman were hurling haymakers. Luger and Sid were locked in a strength competition, and DDP and Sting were having a match of all matches. Action ended when ddp hit Luger with a diamond cutter just to walk right into a scorpion deathlock. Sid and bam bam were in the middle of double powerbombing bossman through a table while DDP was once again tapping out to sting. Looks like Sting has DDPs number. Luger and Sid, Bossman and BamBam all at Road Wild, Don’t miss it!

                  Sturgis, South Dakota

Show starts with The commentating team going over this evenings epic card. Free on tv will be The Road Wild undercard! The main event on the undercard is the highly anticipated triple threat match to see who retains the fourth spot with the legendary Four Hourseman!

                  Alex Wright v. Rey Mysterio

When the match went to the air Mysterio had a solid advantage, however, with smart strategy Alex Wright attempted to keep most of the match grounded. Match ended when Mysterio went for a 619 and it was countered into an Armbar for the tap. Very impressive win for the young upstart Alex Wright.

Konan, La parka and Tito Santana got in a street fight outside the arena with Gangrel, Demon and Vampiro. Once WCW staff got control and police arrived The New Brood was nowhere to be found.

Natural Disasters v. Faces of Fear

This match being on the undercard says everything about the strength of tonight’s ppv.
Faces of Fear turn their bad luck around and get a huge win over the natural disasters. Match ended with barbarian and earthquake fighting while Meng made typhoon tap with a Tongan grip. Tag division is deep, wins like this are crucial.

One man gang & Ted DiBiase v. Dugan and tx tornado— for 100k

Good back n forth. Commentators mention again how insane it is to have a match of this caliber on the undercard! Back to action…Tx tornado made DiBiase tap to the Texas claw made famous in the von Erich days. After the match tx tornado and Duggan were telling DiBiase to hand over the briefcase holding 100k. DiBiase fled the ring and from a safe distance told them the stipulation was they had to PIN one man gang! Then DiBiase laughed his way to the locker room.

When we come back from commercials Wrath is in the ring. Wrath states he isn’t leaving the ring until Glacier comes out and fights him. These two have history in the world of underground unsanctioned death matches. After a few moments the sound of ice cracking went throughout the stadium. A man who looks like Subzero made his way to the stage. Glacier!!??

                  Wrath v. Glacier

Insane match. Stole the show so far. So many moves between traditional wrestling and martial arts. Match ended at a draw when the time ran out. That’s when the lights went out, when the lights came back on a man standing in a green demon like suit was in the ring. This unknown assailant and wrath continued an onslaught on Glacier. They left him in the ring mangled. Welcome to WCW Glacier.

Match concluded when Hennig landed a super perfect plex from the top turnbuckle on Jarrett, but Windham pulled hennigs leg out right as the time ran out. Match went to a draw. Still no clear answer on the Fourth Horseman!

                      WCW ROAD WILD
                      Sturgis, South Dakota

Welcome to WCW Road Wild! Tonight we see if Steamboat can avenge his Bash at the Beach loss to Ric Flair. The tag titles are on the lines as Harlem Heat goes up against The Steiner Brothers! Luger and Psycho Sid go one on one in a battle of two top three titans. So much going on tonight, I know we certainly can’t wait! Tonight we start you off with the red hot Last Samurais (Great Muta & Tajiri) v. The young, but ultra talented Y2Js!

                      Y2Js v. The Last Samurais

What a spectacular match. Janetty has spent a lot of time in Japan post WWF and it has really made a difference. Much more aggression in his offense. He has a perfect balance of high flying and strong style. To the
Match. Plenty of near finishes, but match ends when Tajiri accidentally roundhouse kicks Muta and Janetty out of the ring off the same kick. Flustered… Tajiri walked right into a lion tamer with less than a minute left!

                      Spoiler

We go to the back where Benoit cuts a promo on Steamboat with Flair and Anderson

                      TELEVISION CHAMPIONSHIP
Chris Benoit v. Ricky Steamboat (c)

Benoit with a major win over Steamboat! It was an intense back n forth but Benoit countered a cross body with a cripple cross facE. Chris Benoit is the new Televison champion. What a win for the Canadian crippler! Even crazier, Steamboat still has a two out of three falls match with Ric Flair in the main event

                      Spoiler

                      Dean Malenko v. Eddie Guerrero

Pretty solid match, but Malenko looked a bit more aggressive tonight and it may have made the difference. He made Guerrero tap with a cloverleaf at the 14 min mark. After the match Malenko extended his hand in good faith. Guerrero shook his hand and then grabbed him and hit the three amigos. This isn’t over with. Wtf Eddie

                      CRUISERWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
Juventud Guerrero v. Jushin Liger (c)

This card has been one solid match after another. And for the wrestling hardcore this would be one of the most looked forward to. Juvy who has been red hot, going against possibly the best cruiserwight and move inventor in the world p4p. Went back n forth, and back n forth. Both taking Ariel risk that would be rewarding and not so rewarding at times…..but tonight Juvy wouldn’t be denied. He took just about everything Liger had to dish out! But in a blink he hit the juvy driver and 450 splash for the milestone win! Is he pound for pound? Crowd loved this match

                      Spoiler

DDP v. Sting —— No Holds Barred

Sting dedicates this match to his friend Macho Man, and no pun but it was indeed a Savage match. Major implications. With Hogan out of the title picture who knows how important this match really is. DDP gave it everything. He Landed three diamond cutters throughout the match, and Sting kept kicking out. Match ended when sting did a stinger splash while holding a chair. Then went to the top turnbuckle and hit DDP with a macho man style flying elbow for the pin!

                      Spoiler

Bam Bam v. Big Bossman—- No Holds Barred

Brutal fight that started when Bigelow attacked Bossman on his way to the ring. Not much wrestling, much more brawling. Bossman got bloodied up, he obsessively tried to get the same from bam bam but Bigelow may not be human. Match ended when Bam Bam put a chair over Bossmans face and did a top rope flying headbutt. Both men were unconscious but Bam Bam laid on Bossman so the ref counted the pin. Bam Bam ended up bleeding afterall

                      Spoiler

                      TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP
The Steiners v. Harlem Heat (c)

Man this was a contest. Both teams had each other well scouted. It was strength and swag at it’s highest form in Harlem Heat going against strength and technique with The Steiners. With a minute left Harlem landed a heat seeker and got a pin! Replayed showed
Scott Steiners shoulder was up before three, but it did not change the verdict.

                      Spoiler

                      Lex Luger v. Psycho Sid

Great match between two of the top in the sport. Also, a fight between two of the most feared in the sport. Sid had ring control for the majority of the match. He matched Lugers strength and didn’t mind using a few dirty moves to keep the edge. Luger survived a choke slam and powerbomb. Sid was shocked and seemed to think the ref was to blame. Sid was just about to choke slam the ref when Luger recovered and ended up making Sid tap to a torture rack. Luger didn’t have much time to celebrate as someone in a Nixon mask attacked him with a chair. Repeated shots until security could intervene. Who was that!!? Sid seemed just as confused

Before the Main Event the announcers recap the show while the cameras pan in on a few celebrities who came out for the occasion. You had Jean Claude Van dam, Dennis Rodman and Steve Kerr, Funny man Chris Tucker, and Chicago Bears star Mongo McMichael! The biggest ovation went to fellow Bike enthusiast Jay Leno!

                      MAIN EVENT
                      UNITED STATES CHAMPIONSHIP
Ricky Steamboat v. Ric Flair (c)

This was a two out of three pin falls match for the United States Championship. Cards seemed stacked early on as Steamboat already had to do a mandatory title defense against Chris Benoit. Flair immediately went to work on everything Benoit was targeting. The first fall was when Flair reversed a Flying Cross body into a pin.1-0 Flair. It seemed to be in the bag, when out of the blue Steamboat got a pin out of a hurricurana! 1-1 even. This match had no time limit, and was approaching the hour mark. Dragon seemed like a walking dead man, while Flairs frustration continued to grow. Match concluded when it looked like The Dragon was going to shock the world and hit Flair with another flying cross body. But while Steamboat was on the top turnbuckle, Arn Anderson distracted the ref while MONGO MCMICHAEL hopped the barricade and slugged Steamboat in the side of the face with a right hand haymaker that was also dressed in the bears ‘85 Super Bowl Ring! Steamboat fel to the ground unconscious and Flair covered him for the win!! Horseman celebrated in the ring while police escorted Mongo McMichael out of the event! What a show!

The Fall or fall of Flair?

For the first time since the wrestling boom, Hulkamania is going on hiatus. With the biggest star in the sport out, the future is as mysterious as ever. Not only does Hogan leave an entire fan base basically homeless, but the most coveted title in the world is now vacated.

The NBA, which is facing a very similar situation, will be heading into the next season knowing its without Michael Jordan. For the first time ever the league is without a face. For the first time ever there is no idea who will win the championship. This is exactly the dilemma the WCW has in front of it. The unknown brings a certain element of excitement. The opportunist of the sport will be scratching and clawing for their chance to be the sports most revered champion.

Enter, The Nature Boy! He’s arguably been Hogans number 2 for almost a decade. Stars have come and went, but one permanent pillar in the main event picture has always been Flair. And Hogans departure could not have been at a better time. Ric Flair, The United States Champion and leader of The Four Horseman has been red hot. He’s all but settled his feud with another pound for pound great in Steamboat. This may be peak Flair believe it or not. And if anyone can carry the WCW torch why not the styling, profiling, limousine riding, jet flying, kiss stealing, wheelin n dealing son of a gun himself!

                            WHO ATTACKED THE TOTAL PACKAGE?

At Road Wild, in a strange turn of events, someone in a Richard Nixon mask attacked Luger immediately after he secured the win over Psycho Sid. A brief moment of celebration and triumph was eclipsed by repeated shots to the head courtesy of a steel chair. The mystery in all of this, is that nobody knows who it possibly could have been. In the locker room? The word is mum.

It’s safe to say Luger has his fair share of enemies, but when you review the suspects, none of them add up. DDP? He was getting medical attention post Sting match. Bam Bam, same, post Bossman. So who? The assailant didn’t attack Sid, but he also didn’t seem to care if Sid was there or not. Lugers not the only one who wants answers, WCW brass also wants information. JJ Dillon was quoted saying, “we can’t just have our talent attacked like that. It’s so dangerous, and as disgusting as the results were, thankfully they were not worse.”

As mentioned earlier, Hogans out for now. And just like Flair, Luger is another top rank title contender who could benefit from Hogans absence. With that said, I truly feel Luger needs clarity on this before he can be fully engaged in his pursuit towards a top tier legacy. Only time will tell, but for now…. Richard Nixon, really?

                            Monday Night Nitro in review

Finally, The WCW has a live prime time television show on Monday nights! And to make things even more entertaining, it goes head to head with The WWFs Monday Night Raw show. Already, in just four short weeks, WCW is holding its own with the rival company rating wise. My personal unbiased opinion? When you consider the inclusion of New Japan Wrestling, outside of Bret Hart, Undertaker and Shawn Michaels…. The best of the best compete in World Championship Wrestling.

So here we are, one month in the rearview mirror… the fans have had four shows to digest and get a clear idea what to expect. We’ve seen The Four Horseman and their search for their fourth member. We’ve seen the carnage of DDP and Bam Bam Bigelow. There’s been Steamboat taking on all comers while successfully defending the Television title. An incredibly stacked tag team division, and a cruiserweight division that provides the best, thrilling and action packed matches by far.

Room for improvement? Plenty. Does it beat doink the clown or another boring jets game on MNF? Absolutely. WCW is on the right track. My suggestion would be to continue to just let the talent do what they do best. Give them the wheel. Hogan or no Hogan- WCW will give Vince McMahon and his WWF a run for their money. It will be time to step up, or step back. I’d rate Nitros first month a solid 2 count.

WHO TO WATCH HEADING INTO FALL BRAWL

Disclaimer, this article is not a power ranking. The wrestlers mentioned below are on my watch list for all kinds of different reasons, the only consistent factor being when they are on tv, we don’t look away.

                            Juventud Guerrero

Juvy just may be the most exciting fighter in the most exciting division. At Road Wild he secured The Cruiserweight Championship. That’s a feat in itself, but his path and who he had to beat to get it is why he’s on this list. First he won one of the most exciting matches in WCW history by being the last man standing in a 8 man elimination match. Then, he put his #1 contender spot on the line by beating Psicosis in what Dave Metzler would call “pure passion, luchador wrestling in its most captivating form.” Then, there was Road Wild… a one on one match with the champion Jushin Liger. Liger is highly considered and a p4p great. And in another absolutely bringing the house down performance, Juvy secured the Cruiserweight championship along with the respect of anyone watching that night. I’d personally like to see a Juvy/Liger rematch at Fall Brawl.

                            Marty Janetty

Janettys story is pretty well known. At one point he was half of one of the best tag teams in the world. That partnership led to complete betrayal on live tv. He was embarrassed. Crushed. Janetty completed his contract with WWF and then went to New Japan. In Japan he learned an entirely new style,…Strong Style. He is now in WCW paired with another hot prospect who has his own occult following, Chris Jericho. They have all the energy of Janettys former team, with a thump to boot. These Dave’s have already beaten Goliath’s. The skies truly the limit.

                            TX Tornado

Kerry Von Erich is the most athletic brother out of the famous Von Erich’s. Hes like ultimate warrior, with a rattlesnake bite. He wants the biggest and baddest every time out! He’s had a few set backs since arriving to WCW, but has also had quite a few big wins. The crowd loves him, and after Road Wild he has now made One Man Gang tap twice to the Tx Claw. Falls not typically tornado weather, but this tornado belongs to the von Erich family, not Mother Nature.

                              WCW Monday Night Nitro
                              Hampton, Virginia

Show starts with JJ Dillon coming out to the ring. Dillon says WCW will crown a new World Champion at Fall Brawl. To be absolutely sure that the next champion is worthy of the belt, the champion will be the last man standing in a 16 man tournament! Seeding will be determined by power rankings. The brack is as seen below!

Eddie & Chavo v. Makenko & Rey Mysterio

Match of year candidate. So many jaw dropping moves. Ended when Eddie blocked a 619 but somehow managed to get tangled into a pin for the 1-2-3!

                              Spoiler

The Four Horsemen are now in the right. Flairs on the mic. Flair does not think Windham and Jarrett have what it takes to be a Horsemen. Flair says he watched them fumble the ball over and over and over…. The newest Fourth member of the Horsemen is a champion. Someone who knows what it takes to be the best in the world…… STEVE MONGO MCMICHAEL!! Flair calls Hennig out to the ring. Hennigs music hits and he walks to the horseman. Flair says Hennig, Arn is looking to move to a manager role, which leaves a fourth spot. Flair says if Hennig steps down in their match in the tourney then he can have the fourth spot. Hennig hesitates, then shakes his head No and hops out the ring. Crowd pops as Flair is yelling at the mic telling Hennig he’ll never be a Horseman! Benoit grabs the mic. If anyone thinks they have what it takes to get the belt from Benoit…. Come on and fight!

                              Television Championship
Chris Benoit (c) v. Prince Iaukea

Wow, Prince Iaukea looked amazing. Mike Tenet informed the viewers that Iaukea is trained by the Malenkos. Dean says Iaukea is a future champion guaranteed. And after this match he’s def on the map. He gave crippler quote a bit of different looks, and matched him in athleticism. Time rant out right as Crippler had a cross face locked in. After the match Jeff Jarret came from the crowd and slammed a guitar over Benoits head before being chased out the ring by Mongo McMichael and Arn Anderson.

                              #6 DDP v. #11 Okada

The IWJP champion has entered the tourney as a serious dark horse. DDP who’s probably just happy to not be facing Sting is always dangerous, you never know when The Diamond Cutter will connect. Match lived up to the hype. DDP hit a top rope Cutter, but Okada kicked out. Okada hit a rain maker but DDP kicked out. DDP eventually landed another Diamond Cutter but somehow someway Okada kicked out! Match finally ended when a bloodied up Okada hit a Rain Maker and followed it up with a Cobra Clutch for the tap.

Faces of Fear v. Hollywood Blondes

Prior to the match we joined Pillman and Austin in their locker rooms where it appeared there may be a little tension. Pillman says they haven’t been winning and somewhat alluded to it being the lack of chemistry. Pillman went on to say he loves Austin like a brother but things need to change. Their opponent? Faces of Fear who just picked up a huge win against The Natural Disasters at Road Wild. As for the match, it was definitely a dog fight. The match ended when Meng locked in the Tongan death grip on Austin. It may not be the case but it almost looked like Pillman could have broke the hold if he pushed for it. Another major win for Faces of Fear who are looking a lot more controlled since Mr Fuji has taken them under his wing. You may know Mr Fuji as WWFs World Champion Yokozunas manager. Are championships in the Faces of Fears future?

It’s announced next week on Nitro Liger and Juvy rematch for the Cruiserweight championship

                              Rick Martel v. Hugh Morris

We see the WCW debut of world class wrestler Rick the model Martel! But it’s no easy match. He’s going against power plant upstart Hugh Morris, who Kevin Sullivan says has all the tools to go far in the business. This was a thrilling match. Ended when Martel went for his bottle of Arrogance but Kevin Sullivan grabbed it first. Martel turned right into a move that Hugh Morris calls the Punchline for the pin. Martels debut has been spoiled!

Interview with Luger at his local gold gym

”Luger promises to find out who attacked him at Road Wild. He also promises to be the next world champion!”

                              #2 Ric Flair v. #15 Curt Hennig

Earlier in the night Flair alluded to giving Hennig a spot with the Horseman if he stepped down in this tourney match up. After tough consideration… Hennig said there’s just no way he can pass up his dreams to be WCW World Champion. Flair came to the ring accompanied by Arn Anderson. It was an amazing main event. Both men had almost guaranteed moments to victory. Flair kicked out of a perfect plex with a nano second left. He went for a second one but Arn Anderson grabbed his foot and yanked him down. Hennig rolled out the ring where he started throwing strong rights at Anderson. Flair attacked a distracted Hennig, and applied a Figure Four outside the ring. Hennig did tap but this was not a pin fall anywhere match. Only counts in the ring! When they finally made it back in the ring Flair blocked a Perfect Plex and almost got a roll up pin. With five seconds left in the match Flair locked on another Figure Four, but time ran out. In the event of a draw the decision goes to the highest seed. Flair and the Horseman celebrate as the show goes off the air.
