Intresting to say the least, i agree with superjames i don`t understand the hire. Not because he is a bad coach, just not proven enough in my opinion. But who knows it could be a great hire

Anyone know how Kiffin is as a recruiter?

Glad this came out on the eve before the UK/UT game. I think this will be a HUGE distraction for UT and will hopefully give us a big advantage tomorrow so we can overcome 23 straight losses.

I see Lane Kiffin becoming the next Mike Shula, he has a great football mind, and great football roots, but I just dont think he is a Head coach.

I like the hire. The raiders didn't have a lot of talent while he was there and he couldn't even pick his staff. Despite all that the raiders were a team that competed and they showed that they were gettin better, not by leaps and bounds but they didn't quit on the guy and he was developing some of their younger players. I don't know much about how great of a recruiter he was I'm sure BK does though. If he can somehow get his players in there I think that he can get UT turned around quickly.

The monte kiffin and orgeron thing have been a rumor for a while wherever Lane ended up. That was thought to be a problem at Clemson because Monte blew the whistle on Danny Ford back in the 80s while Monte was at NC State.

I am not sure what to say about the hire because I didnt want him at Clemson. Most SC people have not/did not have many nice things to say about Lane.

I thought the same thing but Maybe Cincy would not give permission until after their season was over and Tenn. wanted a guy in there ASAP.

Agreed, our AD was not going to wait until after bowl season to try to get Leach or Kelly. This is a decision he had to make. He couldn't wait another month plus, and continue to watch the #6 rated class (at one time) jump ship. Kiffin was the OC at USC in 05-06 as well as the recruiting coordinator.

I wanted Butch Davis, but I'm happy with this. The AD wanted somebody young and energetic. Even if he's just here 3-4 years, hopefully he'll stockpile some talent for whoever is next. And IF Monte comes (which I don't think he will), it would be hard to recruit against him, he's a defensive genius and if anybody would make you successful in the League, it'd be him.
