Re: Win/Loss prediction for your team

I've got VT winning at least 9 of their games, with tossups against Bama, BC, and GT. I think VT will beat BC and GT, so they'll get into the ACC CG. Bama is still up in the air for me.

Michigan State goes 10-2 with losses coming to Illinois, Iowa, Notre Dame, or Penn State. We have the talent to beat every team, but I don't see them going undefeated, especially against PSU.

While we lost the star player, we have plenty of solid young running backs behind a good O-Line, plus better young QB's.

LOL, ok. Like how you don't mention Michigan as one of the teams that can beat them. Funny how arrogant MSU fans have become after 9 wins and beating up on bad to mediocre teams. All of sudden Michigan is now an automatic win after beating them for the first time in seven tries.

MSU also could lose at Wisconsin and Northwestern could be a little dangerous as well. Also playing Minnesota on the road could be a challenge.

The fact that you even mentioned MSU and undefeated in the same post is laughable. Given they lost one of the best players in the nation who carried their offense and have two young qb's I think 10 wins is a stretch. Your basically saying there is only 4 games they could lose when in reality there actually 8 games that are not guaranteed wins or are toss ups.

I thin Michigan will be around 7-5, but the assertion that MSU will win 10 games is ridiculous IMO. They literally lucked into some wins last year (Bielema...cough) and were in the bottom half of the Big Ten in every statistical category except turnover margin. By State standards, last year was a good year, but I don't think history will repeat itself and I can only pray that Michigan pounds State just to put a stop to the former whiners who now think they are a power house.

While anything is possible, I realistically think those would be the games MSU would lose. Considering that Michigan won just 3 games last year, and State won 9, I'm pretty sure that gives the Spartans a shot in East Lansing on October the 3rd. Michigan State's defense is improved from last year and we are returning 17 starters, albeit, Ringer and Hoyer were huge for the offense. Cousins and Nichol have the potential to be just as good, if not better than Hoyer with the coaching staff at State.

As for Ringer, the best 2008 Spartan, he will be a challenge to replace. With two 4* running backs in the mix and a good offensive line, the running game won't be as good, but still above average.

On the undefeated note, which team do you believe is a lock to beat State?

^^^Penn State, you know that team that took them to the woodshed. Also I think you are sadly mistaken if you think Michigan won't be an improved team. I find it hard to believe that it won't be a good ballgame and that Michigan won't be capable of winning it.

I just don't see how MSU will be better without one of the best rb's in the nation and their veteran qb gone. They would have to be a better team than last year to win 10 games or more.

Overall I just think Spartan fans have become a little overconfident. 9 wins doesn't of all of sudden make you an elite team. I have now seen a couple MSU fans mention undefeated and MSU in the same sentence on here and other sites, that is the defination of overconfidence and adsurd.

Which is the same as saying they will lose more than 4 or Michigan will will win 8+ this year.

^^^I don't think that it is absurd to say MSU might lose 4 games considering there are 8 games on their schedule that are not automatic wins or could be tossups including that game against PSU. The previous Michigan State poster didn't even consider Wisconsin as a possible loss even though MSU only beat them at home by a last second FG. Wisconsin is hard to beat at home as well. They lost 4 last year and lost one of the better players in the whole country. I wouldn't expect 5 or more though. Talent wise though MSU is not up to that level yet to be talking about going undefeated.

Also 7-8 wins for UM is hardly out of the realm of possibility. 9 would certainly be a surprise though and I don't see it happening. Rodriguez won 9 in his second year with WVU. Saying they have a chance to win 8 games is hardly being overconfident or absurd even though I do see 7 as more likely. Certainly they have the talent to possibly win 8.

Bottom line is I wouldn't be comparing those two things to talking about MSU and going undefeated , they are completely reasonable while MSU going undefeated is not.

Do people even realize how important Ringer was to MSU last year? Without him they don't beat some of the teams they did. I just don't see them somehow being a better team without him. But I guess saying there is chance a team might finish with the same record when they lost one the best players in their history is absurd.

Like I said in my original post, I don't see the Spartans going 12-0. Like I also said in my previous post, anything is possible, just like the Appalachian State vs. Michigan. I'm not saying MSU will for sure beat every team I did not mention, it is simply a matter of my opinion.

I do realize Ringer was huge, actually, most important as I also mentioned earlier as well.

what did ringer do exactly other than carry the ball a ****load of times?

the spartans running game sucked last year mostly because the other team knew it was basically hand it to ringer

that offense can only get better
