Re: Win/Loss prediction for your team

    NC State
    South Carolina - Win
    Murray State- Win
    Gardner Webb- Win
    Pittsburgh- Toss Up
    Wake Forest- Toss Up
    Duke- Win
    BC- Win
    Florida State- Loss
    Maryland- Win
    Clemson- Win
    Virginia Tech- Loss
    North Carolina - Toss up

It all depends on how healthy Russell Wilson can be. I can see 10-2 but I can also see 7-5. 8 home games really help though.

      I'm with you.

Expecting your team to "win every game" is like expecting your kid to get straight As in high school and get into Harvard when it was proven in middle school that he clearly wasn't at that level.

As for "affecting the team", that's just crap. If anything, expecting undefeated seasons is infinitely more likely to affect the team because it can easily lead to a firing. I've never heard of any problems arising from a team that won 3 more games than the fans expected.

Maryland will probably go 7-5 or something and get into a crappy bowl in yet another mediocre season.

Where did I justify being a blind homer? I justified being one period. And every person on this board is one. Any person who is a college football fan and is a fan of the university they went to is going to be one. It's human. People on message boards with holier than thou attitudes have given optimistic fanhood a negative rep. You either have to think your team is garbage or never brag about your school to not get the homer tag placed on you by the likes of you or Cebby. I love how I get the "huge homer" rep on this site for saying things like "if Alabama had held onto the lead against a top 10 team in the final couple of minutes, we would have beaten a piss poor Mississippi State and LA-Monroe the next week".
And bull**** on your "if every fan had your outlook" point. Yep, I'm sure the Michigan players and coaches obsessively follow the message boards thinking, "OH MY GOD this guy doesn't think we can win....we obviously can't!"
Bull****? So if a player has to play for a fanbase that doesn't think he and his team can win, it won't affect him? LOL. That's ridiculous. It's one thing when outsiders don't think you can win, but when your own fans don't think you can win, it has an impact. To think otherwise is insanely ignorant.

Realists in the middle don't have subscriptions to a recruiting website. Because 75% of what you read on team sites for Rivals or Scout is wishful thinking by the writers and fans.

Most of the time where I subscribe the writers tell it like it is, and the fans do the wishful thinking.

I seriously doubt that. All of the recruiting websites' articles are written a certain way to please the subscribers.

Well, in recruiting there is no reason to write a negative article on a recruit that a team isn't going to get because some other teams site is inevitably running a positive article on the same recruit. During the season it kind of depends, after we fell apart last year there really weren't that many positive articles.

During the season the articles normally revolve around the players, and we already established they can't help but to be positive.

I'm talking more along the lines of putting up a story that says..

                  "Top QB Picks Team A"

When said recruit is a 3 star or worse according to their own sites rankings.

It also cracks me up when comparing two articles on the same recruit from different team sites. For example, Team A's article will make it sound as though the recruit has Team A as the leader. While Team B's article will make it sound as though the recruit has no leaders and everyone is equal.

I'll take UNT at 3-9, and better than that if Dodge decides to rely on the running game.

And frankly, your team sucks if at any point you have to qualify a statement with "we would have beaten LA-Monroe" aside from "if they were on our schedule" or "if we had fielded a team"

Dude, flat out. You don't want your Texas Longhorns to play Florida. The only team that is going to beat Florida this season is Florida. They are just that deep and that good. I would love to see what would happen if Texas did play them, could be a Big 12 Championship added to Florida's National Championship as they would have taken out both Texas and Oklahoma in back to back seasons.

I hope some moron starts a thread like "USC is guaranteed to go undefeated this year", except inserts Florida's name.

Every time people hype of these teams they always fall on their face.
