Man, those pesky playoffs are so controversial and difficult to run.

How does the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, and NCAA basketball ever manage to pull that off?
I write things on the Internet.

I loved this article that the site linked to: Would a College Football Playoff Be Fair?

It's by some economics professor and just crunches a bunch of statistics. Completely misses the point of why they actually play the games.

The Fairness Index measures the average ratio of the champion's regular season record to its team with the best regular season record.
That doesn't measure fairness in any way.

          Exactly.

Under that measurement, if we really want things to be fair, we should screw not only a playoff, but the BCS as well. Just give the championship to the team or teams with the best record! 100% fairness score.

this sentence in the welcome section amused me...

"By contrast, during the 11 years since the BCS was created, #1 has played #2 every year by BCS measurements"

            wow really? That is enlightening!

I am willing to bet we see a playoff by 2012.

That article was worse then the BCS. He pretty much said a playoff would be unfair lol, because if a team like Florida were to lose to say Oregon or whoever the last seeded team is it would be unfair to Florida because they proved they are the best team in the country and 1 game changes it all for them.

Right..so I guess the NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, every other pro and semi-pro sport, every other college sport, every high school sport, junior-high sport, pee-wee sport, church-league sport, etc etc etc..is unfair but the BCS is right.

LOL at his numbers he put in, and actually had the balls to say the BCS is more fair then any playoff. SMH.

So, college football isn't about exciting games and possible upsets? Interesting. I guess they figure it's more about style points.

Given the unique nature of college football and the history and traditions that are a part of the sport, the university presidents are simply not interested in a playoff or plus-one system. While the current system receives its fair share of criticism, you must agree that it is better than what we had before. Since we're a proud member of the BCS, I should tell you to visit www.PlayoffProblem.com to learn more! </td></tr></tbody></table>

Let's just forget that many other Collegiate sports have a playoff system, and the fact that other division levels of College Football have a playoff system.

It never ceases to amaze me how elite powers insult our intelligence.
